Yellow partyhats come from opening Christmas crackers. They are the fourth most expensive partyhat, going for over 300 Million coins on the street, as of autumn 2009. Many players kept them when they were dropped because it makes a player looks like they are a King/Queen due to the goldish colour and the crown shape. Since these items have been discontinued, they tend to be highly sought after by players attempting to show off their wealth, however, other than as a show of wealth, these are almost entirely useless. If a player dies, they will tend to lose whatever Partyhats that they are carrying - this is because you cannot sell them in a general store. Due to the Grand Exchange update, the value of yellow partyhats (and other rare items) have decreased, causing a loss of money for those investing their wealth in them. As of the slow rise in prices for partyhats, this particular hat has seen the largest increase of the set, making many think about what the price will level out at. In the week of May 12-18 its price increased an amazing 5%, putting it just barely under the Green Partyhat, and as of June 25th, the yellow partyhat has over taken the green partyhat in terms of value. Starting mid-June 2009, the partyhat's price started increasing. Therefore, it became almost impossible to buy a partyhat through the GE, since almost nobody sold for even the maximum price. To obtain the partyhat, players had to trade for other rising items on the forums and in world 2.

[edit] Spelling - partyhat or party hat

Each of the six (6) coloured party hats is a single word "partyhat" as that is how they are spelled in-game; for example, "yellow partyhat". However, for party hats in general, it is two words with a space between "party" and "hat," because that is how it is spelled when non-player characters talk about them.
