A world event is a giant event shared across every world via an instanced area introduced with the release of RuneScape 3. The outcome of a world event is decided by player actions and the result will shape the world. According to Jagex, there will be 3-10 world events in total.[1]

World Event 1: The Battle of Lumbridge[]

22 July 20132 October 2013

After the death of Guthix, Zamorak and Saradomin returned to Gielinor and wrought havoc in Lumbridge. Players were able to side with either Zamorak or Saradomin, and gather Divine tears in order to support their chosen god. As the gods attacked each other with magic, a huge battle raged at their feet in the crater created upon Zamorak's return. Followers from each faction gathered divine tears to help fuel their chosen god and lead him to victory. As players deposited tears, they earned renown within their faction, exchangeable for rewards from the quartermaster.

Ultimately, Saradominist forces gathered more tears than Zamorak's by a fair margin, enabling Saradomin to overpower Zamorak. However, before Saradomin could strike a fatal blow, Moia came to Zamorak's aid and teleported away with him. With victory in hand, Saradomin departed shortly afterwards.

World Event 2: The Bird and the Beast[]

11 December 201321 January 2014

Armadyl and Bandos returned to Gielinor, each were on one side of Falador city. Players were able to side with either Bandos or Armadyl, and assisted in creating buildings, divining energy wisps, where they fought off enemy caravans for holding energy and defended their own caravans. As players did this, they earned renown with their side, which was exchanged for rewards from their respective quartermaster. It lasted for approximately six weeks and ended with the death of Bandos. His remains still remain east of the entrance to Goblin Village as a prayer replenishing altar.

World Event 3: Tuska Comes[]

1 June 20156 July 2015

As mentioned in RuneFest 2014, the third world event involves the goddess Tuska, rampaging her way towards Gielinor. Players fight her and her followers, but may not be able to defeat her. Players side with one of four factions (Saradomin, Zamorak, Armadyl, or The Godless) trying to kill her. Its original release date was the third week of May, but was moved back to 1 June 2015. The event concluded on 6 July 2015, with Vorago killing her on behalf of the Godless.
