Valdez was an explorer back in the end of the Second age. He discovered the Staff of Armadyl, an artefact with a great power. His discovery of Staff of Armadyl lead to series of events and eventually to the fall of Zaros and beginning of the God Wars. Valdez is wandering around Glarial's Tomb and can only be seen while wearing a Ring of Visibility. As with all ghost NPCs, wearing a ghostspeak amulet is required to be able to communicate with him. He is the first ghost the player needs to talk to in the Ghostly robes (miniquest), and he will give the player the Ghostly robe top.

- After speaking to Valdez without an Amulet of ghostspeak, you will try to decipher his message. While questioning him, eventually the player will state, "All your base are belong to us."
