Ah, thank you for finally joining the RuneScape Wiki! We have been limited to just a few of your images pulled from Wikipedia before they were deleted, but with your return we can finally have the full collection. So far, all I'm doing at the moment is returning old ones, and seeing as how this is a RuneScape Wiki, I assume fancruft would not be a problem.

I still have a few more that have certain issues. One is the High Alchemy Animation you requested a year ago lol (someone else apparently covered that, so I don't need to upload it unless you want some Skeletal Outfit or something). The other is the casting of Ancient Magicks, which I'm not sure what to do with. While it would not normally be an issue, the fact is: I'm holding a completely irrelevant weapon (D2H) while casting the Spells (which can be differentiated between Rush/Blitz and Burst/Barrage) O.O . I'll upload it and let you decide whether to keep 'em or not.

Later, assuming I have time, I'll go update some old ones (Kalphite Queen again gah) and also add a few new ones.

By the way, if you want to access all of the images I re-uploaded (doesn't include the ones that were my images uploaded by other people), they can all be found in the image of my favourite hat at the bottom lol:

Emote

Would it bother you if I added my agility emote in addition to yours? I don't have it yet, but when I do it will have a fairly high resolution. --Mura 05:01, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

It wouldn't bother me much at all (mainly because it isn't me in the animation lol).

However, I am not sure how the others would deal with it, as having two Agility Emotes side-by-side may seem repetitive to them.

You're welcome to visit my house when you get P2P back again. I might have house parties towards the end of the year again (while I work on my prayer at my alter).

As for the 20 room limit, I had to rearrange my house, loosing the top floor (so I did not have so many stairs rooms) and part of my dungeon because I wanted a second portal chamber and a costume room. Now they they have increased the limit, I might add a bit more to my dungeon again, but not until I'm working on construction again (probably in about 12 months time).  Amaurice ^talk 14:59, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Glad to hear, though I'd most likely be too busy with real life things to continue with P2P for the end of the year. Oh well, there's still plenty of time once things settle down.

I also suffered from the 20 room limit, but I manage to solve a way to get an actual house-like appearance and still kept both Teleport Chambers and the 2nd floor (still currently 8 rooms in my 2nd floor when I left it lol). The only sacrifice made was that I have a pitifully small dungeon, which is alright since I designed it where it'll make a very interesting place to fight (gateless Fire Pit FTW).

With the 10+ potential Rooms increase, my dungeon won't look like a basement anymore I hope. Not as large as yours with my priorities to the upper floors, but sufficient.

Either way, good luck with your plans on that. I'll be sure to decorate the Wikia with stuff involving that also.

Animated images

What tool do you use to capture the animated images in GIF format from Runescape? For example, if I wanted to capture an animation of the crafting skill cape. If necessary, I can edit using a combination of Microsoft GIF Animator (to access the frames) and Paint.Net for the actual editing. The problem is the capture. Any pointers would be appreciated. I use Camtasia (full name Camtasia Studio 3) to work with the process of creating the images.

I first use Camtasia Recorder to capture videos live in-game, which is saved into either the .CAMREC format or .AVI format (the one I picked).

I then use Camtasia Studio in the same package to crop the video to a certain length and use it to save as a .GIF file.

If you want to get the capture, just use the Camtasia Recorder portion of Camtasia Studio 3. Just know that you cannot capture it straight to the .GIF format, as it has to go through Camtasia Studio first before you enter it into Microsoft GIF Animator.

Alright, I've got the program, but can't make .gif's. Can you give me a quick pointer? masterGLASERAlalala_{That's "Glosser."}

You have to record a video clip of the scene first using Camtasia Recorder.

Afterwards, you import that video clip (File -> Import Media) into Camtasia Studio, drag it onto the timeline at the bottom, and go to File -> Produce Video As...

On the Production Wizard, click "Show more file formats..." if it hasn't been clicked already, and pick GIF animation file. Then keep on clicking "Next" and then "Finish".

That's the basics of making a .gif animation file out of a video ignoring any editing. That should give you a start and the rest should be figurable. Tarikochi 02:12, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

In order to link to an image, you just add a colon before the name of the image inside the link, like so:

[[:Image:Imagename.gif]]

So if I type [[:Image:Bowman hat.png|Link to this picture]], it will yield this:

I hadn't actually noticed that. Thanks for spotting that. I might still build the magic one when I can, just to see what it looks like.

Also having seen the image of the greater magic cage that you uploaded, I might replace my lesser one sometime. Although I won't replace it until after I get 99 prayer (probably about the end of this year). The reason is that when I do prayer I use my alter, and tend to allow others in the house too (so the house says loaded in the servers memory, so faster to teleport back to house). Sometimes people try to get into the house during the brief times I've teleported to Edgeville to restock on dragon bones, but this does not occur too often. If I had the greater magic cage, then too many people will be kicked out the house and want to get in (because of the option of kicking out the house).

Btw, do you know if the fairy in the games room treasure hunt game will hide in the dungeon rooms too? It would be interesting to see what it's like trying to find the fairy in a busy dungeon! I'm thinking of adding 4 more dungeon rooms, which still should leave me with 3 more spare rooms for future room types (if I get to 99 construction).  Amaurice ^talk 10:00, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Trust me, having guests getting booted from the house via Greater Magic Cage is the least of your worries. You have yet to experience the horrors of Lever Huggers who do nothing but find amusement in TELEPORTING people around the world for hours, trimming the visitor count to a fraction. The "Expel" Option is actually least used on my Greater Cage in my parties.

I'm just thankful that Jagex FINALLY fixed it where it teleported people just for standing next to it (even without standing IN it). It is your decision whether to make the Greater Magic Cage or not, but I HIGHLY recommend against it until Jagex introduces Lever Control. As for me, the only good thing that thing did was allow me to grab an animation of it.

As for that Fairy Game, I really haven't experienced much with it (the only reason why I got it was because the Hangman game has been overdone and it SPAMs the chat). I'm not sure if it works in the dungeon, but I think I recall someone getting it in my Dungeon Stairs Room before (with the game being on the 2nd floor). Don't count my word on that one. I know for sure that second floor Fairy Hunt Game can bring you to first floor, and I think it is possible to get in the second floor also. Good luck in your plans at that either way. Just know the best motivation to get people to play that game in a crowded dungeon is the 50K in your Gilded Mahogany Chest they constantly beg you to start a game for :p.

The Level Huggers that teleport people around they world, are they using a feature of the greater magic cage (does not mention about teleporting elsewhere) or are they just doing things like teleport group or teleport other?

As for the games rooms, I'm thinking of having ones with treasure hunter and one for hangman. I used to have hangman before (when I had a second floor), and I also tried the treasure hunter game too (but I did not have a dungeon then). I'm thinking of just having the games and not the reward chests because when I had parties, I kept having people PM'ing me asking me to set up the games. Despite what the Knowledge Base says, teleporting people is a feature that's included in the Greater Cage, which was used by the Lever Huggers. The Greater Cage can teleport whoever that is in (used to be in and next to) the cage to a location that you have a Teleportal in your Portal Chamber to. I have six different Teleportals, so the Lever Huggers have six different Teleport destinations, heavily favoring either Yanille or Canifis.

And it would be nice for people to play for fun for once. Instead of trying to find profit in someone else's house.

Images with unnecessary animation?

Don't get me wrong, I prefer animated images, but there are some times where your animated images, such as a costume room, don't really need animation... Cool Spy0 05:23, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

The previous image of the Costume Room still had the "Walk here" option on it. As for the Games Room one, it wasn't very visible.

Also, it is impossible to get an entire room in a house without your character in it. And since my character is facing backwards, if I take a screenshot of a still Fire Cape, it would look off. I also rather not change outfits.

And having all the room-related ones animated would be nice for consistency.

Besides, I've made sure those animations do not use up an absurd amount of memory, and the quality still remains pretty decent, so I'm not sure if it isn't an issue anyways.

I know about unnecessary animations also, but some may like it more. Hyenaste comes to mind.

Special Attack Images

RE: Non-enchanted Bolts

It can cause confusion. If you look at Pearl bolts and Enchanted pearl bolts they look like clones, and this could confuse people that have seen both articles who forget what page they are on. Chiafriend12 20:11, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

To most people, they almost are clones anyways, as not many people even use the gem-tipped bolts without enchanting em right away. A consensus I could think of is just relocating the image on the non-enchanted versions so that the pages dont look like they repeat when going to the enchanted version. Although I know it's not your intent, you make it sound like you expect me not to grant permission, but despite that you plan on putting them up anyway. Anyone else could misinterpret this, and freak out. But it's cool, so don't worry :P

What do you plan on using the second animation for? I don't quite see the usefulness of my depressed sarcasm going up on the wiki. I really was sad by how much "omg I got nothing" and "give me 1 plzzzzz" I saw. My eyes even misted up at that soab group. Unless this has a good purpose, I would prefer you not put it up. About the animations

Can you tell me how you were able to record the animations without significant quality loss? It would be helpful if I knew. (Also, where exactly did you take the crossbow animations? How did you manage to not kill him?) Thanks. Doomedrusher^{|Talk||Contributions|} 13:59, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

The animations first started as .AVI video clips recorded straight from the game. Most people start with .CAMREC, but I prefer .AVI more, which may have some difference.

I adjust the qualities of the .GIF file by working on the Advanced Options section after selecting .GIF file with the "Include Windows colors" and "Dithered color reduction" options. There are four different combination of those in the Optimized palette that produces different results.

The option that I think gives the least quality lost is if the "Dithered color reduction" option is the only one checked. However, doing this may give a horrible image result, so checking all four possible combinations would be the best way to tell which is the best one to use.

The Crossbow animations came from a temporary dungeon room in my house, so that we can have complete privacy in doing these. Also, I used accurate mode so that it'll go slow enough to be able to stop when the effect triggers. And he died several times doing it: I just keep the ones where he didn't die (which isn't that hard except for the Dragon's Breath and maybe the Life Leech ones). It did seem strange, as while I have no problems with people's sexual orientation, it is unusual for someone to be that open about it to an obvious spammer and started wishing that those people have the same sexual orientation.

Oh I was just playing along. I hate queers (well, not hate, but "strongly dislike" after having a guy at high school ask me to homecoming). I'm an excellent exception to the saying "imitation is the best form of flattery". But, since they didn't expect anyone to be gay (who would?) I wanted to see how they'd react. I love toying with these people, whether they're gold sellers (I spam them, and record conversations with them on msn :P), queers, or weirdos pretending to be girls for whatever reasons. hmm... ready for a story? Well, after they kicked me out of high school (school counselor decided I was suicidally depressed), they made me go see a shrink. Part of one of our sessions went like this:

him: I want you to get a girlfriend. It'll give your life a bit more meaning.

me: ok...

him: So imagine you go down the stairs and this really cute girl is there saying "omigosh you're so cute! What's your phone number?" What do you do?

me: Don't give her my number. She's obviously a ditz, and knowing the people in our town, probably a pothead too. I'd bet money she has the i.q. of a carrot.

him: Allright... how about you go down the stairs and this really HOT and smart girl sees you and says "Whoa, you were in honors biology with me! You were the cute guy! Let's exchange numbers!" What do you do?

me: I don't give her my number.

him: why?

me: Because there weren't any girls in honors bio who were both hot and cute, so she's obviously a poser. I was taught not to give my number to strangers, anyway.

him: Ok... suppose one of your friends who is hot and smart asks you out. What do you do?

me: Don't go out with her. Almost all high school relationships crash land, and the people never talk again. I see it happen all too much. I wouldn't want to trade a good friend for a short relationship. It's just not worth it.

him: allright.. Look, I know at your age, what with all the testosterone pumping through your body and such, you're still making decisions about your orientation...

It took me a second to figure out what he meant. I did NOT see that one coming.

me: I'M NOT GAY!!!!!!

him: It's your choice! I'm not getting in the way, do what you like.

me: (screaming) I'M NOT GAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

him: There's no need to get angry! It's perfectly acceptable!

me: (considering jumping out the window to prove my point) I'M NOT GAY DAMNIT!!!!!!!!

The timer beeps, and the session is over. A furious teenage boy walks out, and a confused counselor sits behind, scribbling notes on his book.

Events Page

With your permission, I have began working on an Events page. This page will be used to suppliment the forums, and to allow all wikians to post their own events that they are hosting. Hopefully this will allow wikians to "get together" in game easier and allow new users to see firsthand the strong communtiy that we have at the Wiki. Also, this will try and bring the community together by building friendships in game. When complete, we can discuss it being linked on the main page to draw new wikians towards it. Ogre hunting hats

I am pretty sure that you can obtain a second copy of your Chompy Hat if you drop it and ask for another from Rantz. That's how I have over 20 Chompy Hats, and I just replenish when it goes down to 0.

Although it is possible to obtain as many as long as you have the inventory space and the patience to drop and ask for another, it may be harder to pull off for a higher-level hat due to requiring the lower hats in your inventory before you can reach that hat. Look again. It was always in the Human and Account articles. If you want to see if an image is used, check the [[:Image:Runescape_personal_casualoutfit-chikoritapro.gif#filelinks|bottom]] of the image, not the "What links here" page, as that's only counting if the image is actually linked [[:Image:Runescape personal casualoutfit-chikoritapro-male.gif|like this]], not if it is being used as an image. There is pretty much no image whatsoever in the entire wiki that is ever linked like that in mainspace, however.

The images are personal in name only, and only one is actually used in Userspace, alongside nine other mainspace articles. Removing either would damage a couple mainspace articles for sure. Tarikochi 16:24, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

King Black Dragon

I'd just like to say that my edit to the King Black Dragon article was a mistake. I saw that Stinkowing said that Dragon chains weren't dropped by them, and I was simultaneously reading the drops for drops for the Kalphite Queen (that also has the Image:Runescape equipment armours dragon.gif|Runescape equipment armours dragon.gif animation). I saw that the Kalphite Queen's caption said that the Dragon chain and D2h, and the KBD article said that that monster did not. I guess I got confused, and removed the image because I got information from two different pages mixed up.

Image Contract

Smelting animation

Hope this doesn't bug you too much, but is it okay if you can make an animation of yourself using a furnace? I haven't found one in your category, or anywhere else on the wiki, and I can't make animations. I was thinking of putting it on the Smithing article. Sure. I'm a bit busy at the moment along with being F2P (which makes a big difference due to the larger amount of players per location to get in the way of animations) and having a huge list of things to create and upload, but I have gotten someone else to do it at the moment. Blast furnace

Hi again. Your blast furnace image says not to use it until a better one comes. I'm looking for a blast furnace image or animation to put on the Smithing article (want to get it of featured quality). I know it's hard (yes, impossible) to make one while not a member, but is it okay if you can find a friend to do it, or can I use the temporary one? Thanks again :). The first one isn't violating anything (isn't claiming to create those images nor being the person in them). The second one is just a very poor attempt at impersonating me. Either way, it doesn't concern me, as it is virtually impossible to impersonate me.

Participation in video request

I'm planning on making a music video of the "Zezima Song". Since you have a party hat and full dragon (or at least did), could you play the role of Zezima and just stand somewhere for a few seconds and make a confused "=|?" face? Nope, I still have the armour and Party Hat. However, for accuracy purposes, I know for sure that Zezima almost never wears them. Instead, he normally wears (as far as I remember) Bunny Ears, Scythe (which I don't have and can never have), Gilded Platebody and Gilded Platelegs, a Fire Cape, and probably an Amulet of Fury and Cooking Gauntlets. The rest I forgot. If he had to wear a Party Hat, it would be Blue, if I can recall correctly.

As for makeover, I believe he has brown wild-hair (forgot the name, but it may have changed after update), slightly dark skin, and especially, male.

It would be much better and easier to find someone with the Bunny Ears, Scythe, and Fire Cape and get them Gilded Armour. If you can't and if I'm avaliable, I guess I can participate when I'm avaliable in RuneScape again. Tarikochi 14:28, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

What went wrong?! ARGH!!!

I've been stalking around the wiki and I've noticed alot of the images are animated and made by you, as I've been making gifs for quite some time I was amazed out how clean you're animations were, so I tried my hand at my first Runescape animation. Now you and I have different methods of getting the animations going, I use a website called Lunapic and the way I get the pictures is by using the Print scr button, after that I copy and paste into MS: Paint and kill it with the dividing tool or whatever I please.

Now then... You see that monstrosity? I've tried making it five times over and it came out the same way problem being I never freaking moved the camera in RuneScape so it's just like they have some protection against it or something! I was hoping you could tell me what wen wrong...  :P If not that's perfectly fine too. - Bassium!

That issue with the screen shifting despite not moving the camera is what I termed "dodge," which occurs every once in a while in random intervals while playing on the game screen. It was first designed to deter macros ever since RuneScape Classic, and it has remained despite it hardly working, only being a nuisance to animators. Such an example of dodge is seen as follow:

There is no real way to avoid it besides preparing for it to occur and finishing up the animation before it occurs again. With your current method of making animated images via taking screenshots however, it would be difficult to near impossible to avoid dodge, and it would be much easier just recording it.

Ancient Mace special animation

Saradomin Sword animation

I understand that I might be asking for too much, but the special attack has two different animations: When it does zero damage due to the monster being dead, or if you miss, it's the one you took. When it deals damage, it is a different animation. If you have the time, could you please upload that as well? Thanks. (It doesn't work on miscellanian guards since if you kill them, the special does zero, and if you miss, the special doesn't activate.)

Now that I compared mine to an animation on another site, I just noticed that mistake. Unfortunately, I was not aware there were two different appearances of the Special Attack before my P2P ran out again.

I would have gladly (and immediately) took care of the problem if I still have P2P. However, that is not the case and it has to wait for the next time I attain P2P again, which will be a very long time (months away). When I do get to the animation though, it definitely won't be the usual Skraeling for the other animation, lol.

For now, I suggest asking other animators, possibly J-g, as he seems to be budding in this. When you find someone to make the animation, suggest to them to use either another standstill player, preferably not in the Duel Arena, or the Guards in Burthorpe (if they are skilled enough to edit out the part where they attack back).
