Misthalin
Edit
Why did you change the referencing templates I had put in? MattTalk 04:04, March 5, 2011 (UTC)
- Also, [http://www.runescape.com/kbase/guid/history_of_the_world_of_runescape#the_second_age the game guide suggests that any civilization was formed during the Second Age.] Is that reference adequate? MattTalk 04:09, March 5, 2011 (UTC)
- I changed the template because no-one could see them (there was a red error message). The references you had were reliable. And just fyi, the problem is the often accepted part, it is already said nothing is known. Smithing 18:06, March 5, 2011 (UTC)
Anyway, when someone sends you a message on your talk page, if you respond on their talk page with a section like "Re:Misthalin" they get notified when you respond straight away, and when they respond, you get notified straight away. It's useful, because it makes conversation happen faster. Some people hate doing that, though. MattTalk 23:42, March 5, 2011 (UTC)

- The guide is often just insane when it is being worked on, so much wrong info or bad info or non relevant info is added. It is a far different thing than a "completed" work. The warning is justified and necessary.--Degenret01 03:30, March 29, 2011 (UTC)
- In this case the dispute tag makes no sense unless there is actually a dispute. Corrections are being made constantly, hour by hour, on new guides. People should be aware of that. And no, it does not tell us admins not to delete it, we already know better. --Degenret01 08:22, March 29, 2011 (UTC)

Featured images discussion
Edit
Since Suppa isn't here I'll field this one. The discussion was not closed prematurely. It had been two days since the last new person came to offer a support/oppose, and the discussion at that time was just a long back-and-forth between you and Cook. Furthermore, we don't count votes and rely on a consensus system. Even by the measures of "rough consensus," 70% is needed, which was not attained. --King LiquidheliumTalk 16:55, May 1, 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, the last person with a support/oppose was Psycho Robot, who opposed, so the "trend support" thing doesn't quite work. Second, if you look at the discussion, there was very little new stuff. New commentators were very sparse. I had to scroll up just to find the last support/oppose comment from the bottom of the page, and I had to scroll up another page length to find the second to last support/oppose. That means the discussion is more or less dead, and that further discussion would be unlikely to result in any difference of opinion. --King LiquidheliumTalk 02:14, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

Hey, don't worry, I'm not ignoring your question. I'll answer you properly in a bit. Suppa chuppa T C CVRC 23:30, May 1, 2011 (UTC)
- First, we don't go by democracy, so the number of supporters/opposers is irrelevant for the most part. In any cases, your percentages were off. Additionally, the result of the previous thread had to be taken into account, and by the time it was closed, discussion had been exhausted. Suppa chuppa T C CVRC 23:49, May 1, 2011 (UTC)
- It had been a few days since the last real comment when I closed the thread, and I see nothing in the way of a "shift of opinion". I understand that you may be disheartened by my decision in closing the thread, but it was clear that although some users wanted to see the restrictions removed, others wished that they remain in place. Although it may seem to you that the supporters made stronger arguments than those in opposition, I disagree. There were valid points made by both parties and it was fairly clear that there was no consensus on the issue. Suppa chuppa T C CVRC 07:40, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

Shake Hands Emote Image
Edit
I am removing the image on the Shake Hands Emote page because the image is essentially also achieving the effect of publicly advertising a clan which has "trolled" the Roleplaying community for some time now. I have no doubts that this image was left by one of their members. If this image were to be replaced with one that did not show any advertisements for said, or any, clan, I would have no reason to delete it and therefore would not.
I hope my continued deletion of the image hasn't created too much of an issue.

Hey (: So I've noticed you doing a lot of references and sources lately. If you want, I noticed the Seren article has no references or sources whatsoever. Not only does it need them just for the article, but also for Category:Serenists. Apparently unintelligent animals follow Seren but we have no proof of this. <.< So before I clean up that category, if you have any references that you could put on her article, that'd be great. (:

RE:Cook's Assistant
Edit
Hey again Smith. Regarding the Cook's Assistant - I really feel that this user's revision of the page is preferable to your own, which includes messier language and incorrect grammar. Using "He tells you" instead of "He says" is neater and more official, in my opinion at least. The word 'you' is used five more times in the anon's version, but these are well spaced out in the page, and I disagree that it makes the page seem repetitive. I'm going to revert back to the anonymous contributor's version now, and if possible subsitute some you's for a superior word. If you have further reason to debate these changes, please let me know on my talk page before reverting to your own version again. Thanks, Ronan Talk 11:20, August 8, 2011 (UTC)
First off, using "He says" is like using "He walked" instead of "He strolled" etc. It's simply better language to use "He tells you".
I see what you mean about the pot, but I was trying to get rid of a "you" to compromise for the one added in the above section, as you found them repetitive. That will be added back presently.
Your point on obtaining the super large egg section is taken. This phrasing isn't really relevant, and I merely intended to introduce a point of view - it could be either north of the castle or south-east of the Mill Lane Mill, depending on how one was looking at it, but if you feel "and" is a more suitable alternative, then I'll support it.
As for the extra fine "kind" and "flour", I don't really think either of them are suitable choice, and that sentence should be rephrased into something like "Talk to Millie Miller about making extra fine flour before climbing to the top floor, as otherwise she will not convert it," because, as you say, the word flour is used rather too much.
Finally, I wasn't aware of any changes made to the "Required" section. When I revised the page, I reverted it back to this version, and looking at the page's history log I see that more requirements were added during that time. I didn't scroll that far down the page, so I wasn't aware of the changes. I'll add them back now.
Thanks, Ronan Talk 14:49, August 8, 2011 (UTC)
To be honest, none of the issues you've brought up are that big of a deal, and as such each of the minor issues are as important as each other. Using tells is just a better choice of word.
As for the use of "it is advised" (Thank you for supplying me with a dictionary definition, by the way). I can't really see why you have a problem with this. You're completely right, I am telling the reader what I think he/she should do. Why on earth wouldn't I? It would be easier to take the pot from the table while the player is right beside it. If, however, they choose not to this for whatever reason, or happen to skip that section, they can then buy both of the items from a general store. What possible reason do we have not to give the readers another way of getting these items, should they so desire? If, for whatever reason, they don't like one option, all they have to do is go with the other. I can't see why you'd have an issue with this either.
"Talk to Millie Miller about making extra fine flour from your normal flour before climbing to the top floor, as otherwise she will not convert it." Again, this is simply one's point of view. Players are incapable of making extra fine flour, and as such it is to be assumed that the flour that the player makes is normal, thus requiring the assistance of the NPC to make it extra fine. If you truly disapprove of this, then by all means feel free to word it yourself.
"As otherwise she will not convert it" Once again, I don't understand where you see fault in this sentence. If you fail to talk to her before operating the hopper, the flour will not be converted. If you so wish, we can say "Talk to Millie Miller about making extra fine flour from your normal flour before climbing to the top. She will then convert it." This, however, does nothing for anyone apart from making the sentence worse. I trust that anyone doing the quest would have sufficient mental capabilities to understand that if she is not spoken to, she will not convert the flour, therefore if she is spoken to, she will. Really, it isn't all that complex.
If you find faults with anything else on the page, just let me know, but in all honesty I wouldn't describe three extremely minor issues as "too many problems". Thanks, Ronan Talk 08:51, August 9, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for changing that, I had no idea I'd left "the these" on the page. I now have a few issues myself though, such as the removal of "it is advised". I don't know how you expect me to supply a "source" to explain why it would be easier to take the pot while it's no more than a couple of squares away. Jagex don't tend to supply us with such trivial information, and quest guides would be far less useful if they didn't supply us with advice now and then. I noticed you used "you should" in the extra fine flour section yourself , which is basically the same as using "it is advised", therefore I don't see why it had to be removed from "Obtaining the ingredients". Replacing it with "you can" is relatively similar to our above discrepancy regarding "tells" and "says". A player "can" also travel to Piscatoris to get a pot, but it would be advised to simply take it from the kitchen. I must remain adamant that this is restored. Moving on, though, I must congratulate you on fixing up the extra fine flour section, I would never have thought of replacing "it" with "realigning millstones," but I don't think "kind" is the right word either.
The last minor thing I'd like to change is the "Required" section. It's quite unclear, and could easily come across to the newer players attempting this quest that they must complete Recipe for Disaster before Cook's Assistant, as opposed to vice versa. "Required to Complete" is clearer, and should be restored. Thanks for all your co-operation throughout, and if you think any other aspect of the article needs tweaking, please let me know. Thanks again, Ronan Talk 11:19, August 11, 2011 (UTC)
I realise that I've probably composed the entire contents of your next archive in the space of a few days, so I'd like to get these discrepancies ironed out as soon as possible and be done with them. I'll start, again, with the use of advised.
SalsRealm and Tip.It, while prestigious fansites, are not official sources, and as neither of them make any mention of the pot on the table whatsoever, I would be inclined to believe that the writers of the walkthroughs simply did not realise it was there. I am forced to reiterate what I have stated many times above - It would be simpler, quicker, and less expensive to take the pot while it is right beside your character. New players attempting this quest mightn't even have 3 coins to rub together, and they mightn't know where the general store is either. I cannot understand why this is so hard to understand. Neither of the above websites' guides are law, and just because they have left something out, it doesn't mean that we have to as well. It is advised is the correct phrasing to use in this circumstance.
The use of "you should" in the extra fine flour section is perfectly acceptable, I was merely using it as an example.
To wrap things up, I believe we should stick with the title of "Required to complete", and just add another section underneath it, titled "Other" and add in that it is one of the requirements to purchase a Lumbridge Painting.
I hope that clears everything up! Thanks, Ronan Talk 12:41, August 12, 2011 (UTC)
Ok, that sounds good. Nice working with you!

Champ count verification
Edit
Hi, I changed my rs username to Ipso Facto awhile back and made a new user page for that name
I also had not accessed my old page "Ludus Erus" in awhile. I noticed that my champions challenge
count was reset to 1 when I clicked the link.
I now have 12 champions done and would like to know if there is a cc ingame that I can
quick chat my champ count to verify it ;)
Apologies if I made this comment in the wrong format orsomething ;) Ipso Facto 01:22, August 14, 2011 (UTC)
re champ count
Edit
sorry I was vauge, by clicking the link I meant the link at bottom where it has member groups I belong to ie: members who have completed a champions challenge.
I had been listed as having completed 9 on that list, as Ludus Erus but when I checked tonight it had
Ludus Erus as having only completed 1. (I have removed that profile now with a note about my namechange)
I found the ingame cc but it was empty. I was asking for a way to verify as I thought it was needed
as anyone can claim they have done any amount since RS does not have an official list.
The only way being to meet a player ingame whilst having a banner carrier out or quick chatting my champ count.
I understand I was mistaken now so no biggie, thanks for your response though :) Ipso Facto 02:54, August 14, 2011 (UTC)

re: Carnivorous Chinchompa vandalism reversion
Edit
Why would disabling Carnivorous chinchompa bots be irrelevant to the page about hunting carnivorous chinchompas? Look through the revision history bro, half the original section was removed by an anonymous vandal, and then the rest was removed because it wasn't useful to simply say that bots existed.
Basically, if a new player wanted to know about hunting them, it would be immensely useful for them to know that they don't have to feel outclassed by a piece of software. I only noticed this section had gone missing when a guy from my CC started complaining that he couldn't hunt carnivorous chinchompas because of the bots.
true enough, identification of bots isn't entirely pertinent to the article. I suppose I originally added that part because it didn't seem to make sense to simply say "if it's crowded with bots, this is how to deal with them". I did consider adding a separate article for dealing with the bots, but figured the problem was so widespread that it was just as relevant as any other information on hunting strategy - if not moreso because the bots preclude the hunting strategy being implemented at all.
