I've suddenly got a ton more going on in my life (hence my recent inactivity) and I don't think I'm going to be able to contribute quite as much as I could a couple weeks ago. I'm pretty sure it's etiquette in this case to request de-opping, so here I am doing so. Hello! Yes, I bet you remember me, and before you do anything rash, I just wanted to come and formally apologize for my shenanigans back about a week and a half ago, with the proxies and such. I was trying to be a showman, and I guess I failed pretty hard. Well, all that matters is I'm here (debuted as I said I would, 8/7/2008). So yeah, just wanted to apologize and hope all is forgiven. Skill is a very very very very nice editor. He makes lots of contributions, and know lots of things about stuff. He has helped move decision processes along, and even got some things going, like making a VfD for User of the Month. He said something people about being mean and superior in it, so I think he knows what he's talking about. vote 4 skill

[edit] Transparency Problems

Hi, I dont know weather or not you are the right person to tell this too but... I currently own the site vindemi.com. I am also a user on runescape. How would your wiki like to move into my server? For example, it will go from runescape.wikia.com to runescape.vindemi.com. The good thing about moving to my server is: All bureaucrats on the site will have access to the server so they can add extensions, add custom skins, and do other things. My site has unlimited disk space and broadband space. Unlike this site, on the new runescape site would have limited advertisement....look at vindemi.com to see how it would look like. Oh yea and there are extensions on MW that would make moving the site easy. For example, there is an extension where the computer will import all the users from this site to the new site. And MW has this tool that will import pages from this site to the new one. Tell me what you and your colleagues think about it so I can set it up. I've noticed that you used {{REVISIONTIMESTAMP}} for classifying the Exchange pages into categories. This value could be inaccurate, as the pages may be revised by vandals without the price being updated.

I have now created a working Template:DateDiff (Template:DATEDIFF was deleted by Christine on 4 July 2008), which can used to calculate the difference between 2 different dates. I have taken the liberty to display the number of days since the last price update (on a particular Exchange page), based on the {{{DATE}}} value. This will also alert the "price updater" not to only update the price, but the dates too.

I need a clarification: which was messy? Template:DateDiff or the code in Template:ExchangeItem? The DateDiff caused problems in the large GEMW pages (Pre-expand size too large). az ^talk 15:12, 11 September 2008 (UTC)

I didn't use DateDiff and {{#time: }} works. All Exchange articles and GEMW pages now display the "Number of days since the last update". Transcluding the DateDiff template seemed to have caused the "Pre-expand" problem. I'm leaving the category classifications as it is, since I don't get the logic of the expression (too many {{{{s and }}}}s). I was thinking, do we actually need that many sub-categories? Hmm... I was looking through the sub-categories, and would like to make some changes to the current coding:

Do away with "1 day" and "3 days", since almost all Exchange items come under these categories, and serves no purpose. We don't have the resources or the manpower to update all the pages every single day.
Sub-categorise should be based on: "1 week" and "1 month"
The category name should be shortened: "Needs price updates" ("GE articles needing price updates" is a mouthful.)

This expression: {{#switch: {{#expr: ({{#time:z|{{CURRENTTIMESTAMP}}}}-{{#time:z|{{{Date}}}}}+365*({{#time:Y|{{CURRENTTIMESTAMP}}}}-{{#time:Y|{{{Date}}}}})+3)/7 round 0 }}|0=Today|1=Within 1 week|2|3|4=Within 1 month|More than 1 month}}

returns "Today" - if the "date" is the same as today
returns "Within 1 week" for Days 1-7 (Week 1)
returns "Within 1 month" for Days 8-28 (Week 2, 3 and 4)
returns "More than 1 month" for Days 29+ (Week 5+)

I'm very glad to see that my template has been considered to be useful. The comment you have left on the template, "removing experience per yew grove", confuses me though because I can't find any discussion on the Yew Grove or anywhere else. I'm not disagreeing with your change, merely interested to see what has been said about the template... I will try to change the template (in my sandbox) a bit more: I think the word "approximately" can be removed (using an if statement) when the level is 2,000,000. What do you think? I would like to propose some additions to Mediawiki:Common.js.

For the Custom Edit buttons, to speed up loading time:

For the AJAX auto-refresh feature, add the Special:Log.

[edit] AJAX Watch - Mediawiki:Common.js

This line: if (ajaxPages.indexOf(wgPageName)!=-1) addOnloadHook(preloadAJAXRC); in Mediawiki:Common.js appears to add Auto-refresh to articles such as Watch and Log (Log without the "s"). This is because "Watch" and "Log" triggers the OnloadHook as the "indexOf" is not "-1".

Can this line be revised to match "wgPageName" against individual items within "ajaxPages"? (ajaxPages="Special:RecentChanges,Special:Watchlist,Special:Log";).

Possible solution:

Split the string based on commas, and add them into an array.
Loop through the array to check if "wgPageName" matches.

This way the code will only add Auto-refresh to specific pages, rather than pages such as "Watch", "Log", and who knows what else. az ^talk 15:06, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

You'll probably know that there are no active admins or beaurocrats on the Wiki, and I am easily the most active user there. There has been alot of vandalsim recently, and someone needs to be able to deal with it. Basically, I'm asking you to make me an sysop. I would go through the correct procedure on the Community Portal, but the Wiki is almost dead; nothing would happen.
