It's more or less, always, a coincidence. Once penguins spawn at reset or when there is a system update, penguins are free to roam to the extents of their boundaries. The crate you saw on the fifth was actually the NW Ardy penguin that spawns near the Outpost! Even though penguins on all worlds spawn at the same place, a penguin on one world may stay around the Ardy area, while the same penguin on another world may go all the way to the Digsite or Oo'glog (not likely, but possible). I've been hearing more and more reports of penguins there, which confirms my suspicions. When they released the Gates and Guards surrounding the Starting Area, penguins can no longer get in or out of that area. So, penguins that spawn outside of the area are very likely to run into the Fally Farm area as it's in the center of things there. A penguin can will run against the barriers of the starter area and walk right into the Farm area where it's likely to be trapped if some doors and gates are open.
I'm sure you're you're wondering why the maps don't show the full roam range or similar. I've tried this before in the past with my very early Penguin Locations Videos, and you can't hardly see what they're showing if it's zoomed out too much, and if I zoomed in more, it'd take forever to make o.O I'm glad they help! I was fairly frustrated when I found I can no longer post links or embed the Locations Videos, as I, like many others, are visual learners. Sorry for the long explanation, and as a tip, DDL I found works so much quicker than having to type out "Distractions and Diversions Locations". Hope this helped! Then the crate must have left (if it's the same world) and another penguin, most likely being Burthorp, but possibly 4(?) others, went there instead. Since you couldn't spy it, it just means that you've spied that one before this/that week. Penguins cannot change costume during the week (with one exception during H'ween with the Pengkins).
