Don't forget that you're awesome Edit

Just wanted to drop by and tell you that I really admire your work on WP and elsewhere. Reading through your arbcom case was painful. I hope RS can provide you with a welcome distraction, as it often has for me. Keep on doing your thing. Dungeoneering-icon Gangsterls Thieving-icon talk 07:34, April 11, 2013 (UTC)

Thanks - supportive comments such as this are very helpful. RS has received a little more attention recently. Rich Farmbrough, 10:03 20 April 2013 (UTC).

Quick question Edit

Eh, why did you create Wixked hood? Is it really that common a misspelling? Ancient talisman Oil4burgers TalkRunecrafter hat y 15:18, May 7, 2013 (UTC)

Good question. It appears to be approximately twice as common as a starborn diamond, maybe a little more so. Rich Farmbrough, 15:28 7 May 2013 (UTC).

Pot to flask wanted page Edit

User:Rich Farmbrough/Sandbox/pot2flask was causing a redlink to Exchange:(4). I was unable to figure out why (I assume it's something to do with it's /core subpage), so I've simply added nowiki tags to prevent the wanted page. Feel free to un-nowiki it when the wanted page is fixed.

Thanks, Cåm 09:21, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

NP. It's the call of a parameter with no default value. The other wiki tends to put default values, which is a reasonable solution in this case (but a bad one there for performance reasons) - however includeonly tags work just as well. Rich Farmbrough, 15:31 12 May 2013 (UTC).
Much appreciated :) (completely forgot you were one of those old school wiki'ers who reply on the same talk page). Cåm 21:40, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
Hi again. Another six wanted pages appeared due to User:Rich Farmbrough/Sandbox. I have fixed them, but broken intended purpose of the page, for which I apologise.
The problem appears to be due to the naming of the potions. The correct name for a Super attack potion is super attack, however, this is different for a super ranging potion (note the use of potion in the page title). The wanted pages were for the Exchange pages for the potions that needed the potion suffix. Due to the way the templates have been set up for the page, they assume the same name for both flask and potion. So super ranged (4) becomes super ranged flask (6), rather than super ranged potion (4) becoming super ranged flask (6). A possible workaround I can think of is to add a parameter to specify if potion is part of the items name, say |potion=true which would append potion to the argument of the first parameter, whilst more or less the same syntax. Your thoughts? Cåm 23:23, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
Actually it's a little smarter than that: it finds out if the potion suffix is required by doing an "#ifexist:" - coding a separate parameter for whether or not "potion" is required breaks encapsulation - every page needs to know the correct names of the potions. A reasonable solution would be to provide apparatus by a template called "Potion name" - but I fear that I would be castigated for creating a template that is only called by user pages. (There seems a short-sightedness on various wikis about creating tools before they are used - for fear of having to "maintain" them.) Rich Farmbrough, 03:32 14 May 2013 (UTC).
...Or you could just create the template in your userspace. Signature5.pngSignature5Last.png 04:01, May 14, 2013 (UTC)
Which would somewhat defeat the point of creating a shared, encapsulated resource. Rich Farmbrough, 13:44 14 May 2013 (UTC).

Just a heads-upEdit

It was decided to delete all but a few examples of chatbox images. Implicit in that is that no more should be uploaded. Zamorak staff AnselaJonla Slayer-icon 00:56, May 15, 2013 (UTC)

<Shakes head sadly> Rich Farmbrough, 01:17 15 May 2013 (UTC).
Be sad all you want, but don't add snarky comments to articles. Signature5.pngSignature5Last.png 01:30, May 15, 2013 (UTC)

Just so you knowEdit

High Risk Wilderness warning
The warning received when choosing a High Risk world
Images focusing on text within the chatbox (an NPC speaking, a warning, etc.) should not be uploaded. Instead, translate the chatbox's message into the content of the article. - RS:IMG
A little emphasis on "warning", if you didn't notice "warning" in bold. -- Spined helm SpineTalkIlluminated book of balance 01:34, May 15, 2013 (UTC)
The salient point is the visual representation of the warning, as contrasted to a text warning or the image on the lobby log in. In most cases, this is not important, here it is. I would not have bothered to create an image if I hadn't thought it worthwhile. Rich Farmbrough, 01:45 15 May 2013 (UTC).
You mean two skulls? How mundane... It's not so special or indescribable that it desperately requires an image that goes against consensus. If you really care that much, do an RfU. MolManRch Frmbrgh 01:48, May 15, 2013 (UTC)
Er.. no I don't mean that. It's not that image. And it's the functionality - what happens when you hit a High Risk world that is important, people want to know what warning they will get when they hit that world before they loose their prized pixels. And no I am not minded to engage in bureaucracy, to retain one minor image in one minor article. I would have thought UCS would cover this, but if not, that's fine, it is simply a piece of learning that it is not possible to share on this wiki. No big deal. Rich Farmbrough, 02:08 15 May 2013 (UTC).

Spaces Edit

Please don't add unnecessary spaces to articles. Only one space should come after a period, and there should be no space between an asterisk and a sentence in Trivia points. Signature5.pngSignature5Last.png 19:32, May 23, 2013 (UTC)

Have you checked your en.wiki mail lately? 203.81.67.127 03:14, May 24, 2013 (UTC)

Ascension crossbow gemwEdit

Was this a mistake? Suppa chuppa T C CVRC 17:31, June 4, 2013 (UTC)

This is script based, therefore there's some kind of bug. Rich Farmbrough, 17:48 4 June 2013 (UTC).
Possibly the GEDB isn't properly set up yet. Rich Farmbrough, 17:50 4 June 2013 (UTC).
It appears not to be that. Rich Farmbrough, 17:51 4 June 2013 (UTC).

Was that using the (new) script? MolManRch Frmbrgh 17:22, June 5, 2013 (UTC)

Yes. Interestingly it has not updated the Exchange page itself. Rich Farmbrough, 17:31 5 June 2013 (UTC).
That's why I asked, I'll bug Joey about fixing that when he comes back. MolManRch Frmbrgh 17:32, June 5, 2013 (UTC)
Works for main-hand, now. :) Rich Farmbrough, 17:34 5 June 2013 (UTC).
I saw; weird. I guess I'll have him take a look if more happens, your first edit might have just had a fluke. MolManRch Frmbrgh 17:35, June 5, 2013 (UTC)
