Go ahead with the comparison tool. I was actually wondering when that was going to be implemented.
But, please don't pack any of the JS and CSS pages. Personally, I don't see how much lag we can reduce with the packer, and IMO, it only inconveniences other editors as the packer makes text harder to read. az talk 10:26, September 14, 2009 (UTC)
- Remove a page hit on our servers? I think one of the reason the Hilite script was separated into another page was that it would be easier to manage scripts that way. See Wikipedia's MediaWiki:Common.js. They separated their scripts based on functionality, and I thought we should do the same. Instead of combining everything into one page, we should "divide" the scripts based on how they function. I think, that way, the scripts only load when required. See also Functional breakdown by size, and some of the other archived MediaWiki:Common.js talk pages.
- For example, "scripts specific for editing" (wgAction == "edit"), "scripts for specific namespaces" (wgCanonicalNamespace == "namespace"), "scripts for specific pages" (wgPageName == "pagename"), etc. az talk 13:42, September 14, 2009 (UTC)
- I know, we need to identify where the Hilite script will be required, and adjust common.js accordingly. (Usually, highlights are only required in diffs, logs, in the watchlist and recentchanges.) Item Compare is now installed on this wiki by default. Please remove compare.js from your local JavaScript file.
This message started showing up, is it wiki wide or is it local depending on whether or not you have removed the script from your file? If it is the latter, where would I go to make sure I am up to date? I already checked Special:MyPage/monobook.js because thats the skin I am using and have removed the compare entry. Thanks.

Hi. I tried to create my own User:Oli4burggraa/templates.js page so that I could edit it (I wanted it to automatically say {{Signatures/Oli4burggraa}} instead of ~~~~). I then went to User:Oli4burggraa/monaco.js and changed importScript('User:Quarenon/templates.js'); into importScript('User:Oli4burggraa/templates.js');.
However, after I did this (and cleared my cache), it turned out the whole template toolbar didn't work anymore!

- Wikia does not have it listed as a supported extension, and I'm a bit leery about letting users include any data from the RuneScape site, due to the extra load and possible use of RuneScape content without copyright notice. Hey Quarenon, I was just about to complain about the page preview script not working on the Recent Changes page, despite working everywhere else, and then it started working when I clicked on your "Leave a new message" link. I think the script was afraid of getting in trouble for not working =P. I added several of the scripts here recently and they are all now working perfectly! - Wait, never mind the never mind. As soon as I said it was working again, guess what? It stopped working. I think it has something to do with the auto-update. Maybe I CAN find a use for the vandalism watch script I was working on... if I use a JS setInterval to refresh the entire page and load it through AJAX like in your calculator script, the links might still preview, and that would make vandalism watching much easier. - Yeah that's what I was thinking. Earlier I had been working on a script that loaded the recent changes page. This script was on my local computer, but it successfully loaded the Recent Changes page and modified the code so that links instead caused Javascript to load the page via the same method. I was hoping to eventually accomplish an automatic load of the differences so I could spot vandalism more easily, but then I found your link to the popup script. Hey Quarenon, I asked The Last Username Left some HTML/jscript questions and he told me you were Da man for the job, so here are my questions:
1 - I'm making a website with a table and I want to make a few javascript functions to add rows and columns, although, the delete column button doesn't work, It works to add some but doesn't work to remove any. Here's what it looks like (yes, I did make sure my onClick call was correct, I make mistakes there alot.

I was thinking of using appendChild before the createCell(row.insertCell... row and adding a minus one right next to the 'row' thing but it doesn't work, know what to do?
3 - Is there a way to createElement("<input type='text' name='rowXcolY'>"). What I mean by that, is add an input box where it's name would be different depending on it's location in the table.

Well, for number 1, thanks, it works now! I copied it with the exact same code and it didn't work, so I tried removing it and when I put it back it worked. Oh, nvm, I think the problem was I forgot the parentheses when I called the function... silly me.
As for number 3, I think I understand What to do know, thanks, I just do a set attribute thingy that I didn't know about (I suck at JScript)
For number two, sorry if I wasn't crystal clear, I want to add in cell 1, the number of the row and in the rest of the cell, input boxes, like this:

[edit] QBot Hiscore Autoupdate not working
I have the hiscore autoupdate template on my userpage. QBot had been updating my hiscores every second day as it was supposed to, but stopped after October 1st. On Wikipedia, they have a neat little Status template, but it requires you to add several scripts to your .js, and simply copying it doesn't work. Do you think you could design a script where if the user/IP is listed in the CVU and you edit thier talk page that hasn't been created it automatically puts in "{{subst:No Vandal}}~~~~", sort of like a mix between your autoCVU and Autowelcome scripts? It would be a quite convenient, say, in the recent changes you see possible vandalism, you click "dif" (or if it's really obvious just the rollback button next to the revision if you have that OTHER script), see it's vandalism, click "rollback", click the little link that says "report", then after you have saved the page, when you click the talk page link for the vandal, it already has the No Vandal template. Then maybe have a "Recent Changes patroller pack" containing all the scripts

[edit] New script idea (that is actually worthwhile)
