I did get coal from these cockroaches before. However, it is not very common as I got coal only about 3 times when I trained from 92-96 strength and each time I only get 1 or 2 as opposed to mithril ores, which I always get. Rune445566 02:11, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

11. While Steve and LeRoy are fishing 1 mile from shore, their boat springs a leak, and water comes in at a constant rate of 10 gallons per minute. The boat will sink if it takes in more than 30 gallons of water. Steve starts rowing toward the shore at a constant rate of 4 miles per hour while LeRoy bails water out of the boat. What is the slowest rate, in gallons per minute, at which LeRoy can bail if they are to reach the shore without sinking?

First of all, how long will it take them to reach the shore? At 4 m/h, that means that they could do 1 mile in 15 minutes.
In 15 minutes, 10*15 or 150 gallons of water would enter the boat.
Now, the boat cannot have more than 30 gallons of water.
Therefore, in 15 minutes, they will need to pump out 150-30 or 120 gallons of water.
120 gallons/15 minutes == 8 gallons per minute

18. A right triangle has perimeter 32 and area 20. What is the length of its hypotenuse?

Let's say the two legs are a and b, and the hypotenuse is c. Note that the question does NOT ask for the lengths of a and b–that would be impossible to solve.
So we know that a + b + c == 32
And that a * b == 40
We can also say that
(a+b)^2 == a^2 +2ab + b^2
(a+b)^2 == 2*40 + c^2 (pythagorean formula)
(a+b)^2 == 80 + c^2
a+b == sqrt (80+c^2)
therefore
c + sqrt (80+c^2) == 32
sqrt(80+c^2) == 32-c
80+c^2 == 1024 -64c + c^2
64c == 944
c = 59/4

Hi

I've noticed your insanely high Magic/Smithng level for a F2P'er (Nice work btw), and i ... need your help :[]
My Magic level is 79, and my smithing is 74 ... I want 85 in both, but i have no clue how to do so. When i'm done with merchanting and mining, i should have about 12M. Any advice? Frede 11:42, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
