[edit] Current market
Hey Amaurice, any ideas on why items such as bandos armour, godswords, and dragonfire shields went drastically up in price? I was planning on buying bandos armour but cant afford it now because of the raises in price.

Hey Amaurice if possible, I'd like to get a screenshot of your menagerie in your player owned house if possible, with your dragon. Since you do have 99 construction, I was going to use it for a video im making of summoning familiars.
Let me know when a good time is for you

[edit] A little request
- Good day to you. I am currently training a new F2P account, I just need some guides about how to merchant and largen the 1 million gained in like, 23 days after creating this account. (sorry for boasting myself) Another question is, if I use multiple accounts to buy the same item in mass and sell them at higher price, will it be against the rules? Thanks.

10:51, September 8, 2009 (UTC)
- Although I know trading between one's accounts is illegal, the problem I have mentioned is using another account's resource, to cause the market price of an item to change as desired, and in return both accounts can gain more coins, which is considered an unfair advantage because the market price is pushed with a larger force, not the market price used as a tool to transfer coins to another account. In other words, this mechanism works like a merchanting clan, except the members are all controlled by one person.

[edit] Profitable High Alchemy
Thanks for the changes you've done to the GEMW page on the high alchemy calculator. It looks fairly attractive, even if it is a bit different looking from the other GEMW pages. That isn't necessarily a bad thing either, considering the topic.
As for my creation of the {{Natprice}} template, it was precisely the circular references that caused me to go in that direction. The template parser had a fit when I tried to directly access the Nature rune price directly from the normal exchange item template. I don't see that we have to keep this updated so frequently as the normal nature rune exchange item, although if you could throw it into your bot, it would be appreciated, but don't kill yourself over it. My question here is mainly one of where to stick the documentation that other wiki users could update this template as well from time to time, but put that information in a place that isn't going to cause vandalism of this template either. I could simply raise the protection level, but I think that is using a sledgehammer to fix a minor problem.
Anyway, thanks for all that you do with this little project. I consider the GEMW to be amazing if for nothing else that it sort of pushed Jagex into creating the GE Database on the official Runescape pages, and they sort of copied some of the ideas that we have here on this wiki. All I can say is to keep it up, and let's try to find some more creative uses for this information. --Robert Horning 13:07, September 26, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Assistance
Hi Amaurice, I need some assistance in an area that you're more experienced with. Please take a look at the Graphical improvements article. [edit] Champion Scrolls
Hey Amaurice, it's been awhile. You know how your trying to beat all the Champions? And how you spent so long trying to get the Lesser Demon Champion? Well, i had Lesser Demons for a assignment, and like the 10-15th kil i got a challenge scroll >:D so, I fill my inventory with good pots and sharks and ALOT of runes, but I ended up only using 1 prayer pot :|. The Lesser Demon "Champion" was actually kind of a pushover. Well, I guess i should summarize this as, "haha I got the lesser demon champ and you dont >:P" lol cya round

[edit] Adam Smith Clan
Earlier you had expressed interest in participating with the new merchanting clan that I was going to set up. I appreciate your support and input on the topic, and I'd like to see you join us in discussing the organization of this clan on the clan discussion page. Your voice is important, and any contributions that you may make right now will significantly impact how this clan can be organized and what it is that we will be doing.
Remember, this isn't going to be a traditional manipulation clan or something that may hurt other players, but it will be something that is going to make us all quite a bit of money. It is an experiment in a number of ways, and something that can be of a service to the greater Runescape community.
I hope to see your involvement with this clan in the future --Robert Horning 16:50, October 26, 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Re: SmackBot
More bots the merrier.
I write in PHP for how easy it is to write. I run the bots from command line, although the bots are also designed to work from websites.
I have never used Java successfully, but I can try. I am also planning to write a update bot in PHP, although I want access to the source of GEBot and SmackBot first so I have tested regexes and a structure to base my bot on. This issue shows why we need access to source code and backup bots, so have us run multiple bots may be a good idea. -

Hey Amaurice, I see you are updating all the Exchange prices right now. I have a small request to make, which is that you set all your edits as minor (in your Preferences), as it is difficult to find vandalism with your edits in the RecentChanges. Thanks! C.ChiamTalk 08:22, November 4, 2009 (UTC)

- I updated the Exchange pages with AzBot, and managed to update almost all of the pages. You actually updated some of the items which AzBot updated a few hours ago...
Anyway, don't worry about updating the Exchange pages until you get your bot account approved, and start using AmauriceBot... As Calebchiam said, your edits are filling up the RecentChanges at the moment.
az talk 09:34, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
- Actually all of them have been updated to the current prices... only the items in Category:Needs price update/7 days are currently out-of-date. az talk 09:52, November 4, 2009 (UTC)
- But just because the price changes frequently, it doesn't warrant an update every 2-3 hours... or 2-3 times daily. SmackBot uses a minimum duration before updating an item, regardless of the price change, but I'm not sure what is the minimum is. 6 hours, I think? Try asking the owner. You should set a minimum duration as well. az talk 10:20, November 4, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Hard limits, floor/ceiling prices, and whatnot
Do you have an algorithm to detect these hard limits in Exchange prices? Or do you base it by observing the graphs? I have the data for all of the prices of Exchange items from 1 January 2009 till 31 October 2009, and I would like to know if it is possible for me to develop the junk/anti-junk item list from my database. az talk 09:34, November 4, 2009 (UTC)

Hi, long time no see. Lol. I know your busy but I just found the new adveturer's log. I was shocked at the time I have played, it said I had played for 132 days 8 hours, which is a lot, (at least 4 and a half month straight). I know you have a very high amount of rating and xp within the game and a lot of 99s, I thought I would ask how long you have played as a comparison, I hope you don't find this intrusive and of course you don't have to tell me, but seeing how long someone who has played for the length of time you have and has such achievments as yours would be a great basis for comparison.

[edit] Java Bot
I noticed your proposal on the Yew Grove to have AmauriceBot run GE updates. I see that AmauriceBot runs on Java. Would there happen to be any classes provided to make wiki editing easier, and if not, could you help me with it? I am aware that there are libraries for PHP, but I am not familiar with PHP. I am planning on developping a bot to create charm drop log subpages, and was hoping I would not have to learn a new programming language to do it. If you could help me out, that would be great. tLUL Talk - Contribs

- Yeah, the edit tokens were what I anticipated I would have trouble coding for. Your classes greatly simplify creating bots in Java. If I were to create a derived work, how should I format the copyright notice? I tend to use the full GPL notice at the beginning of the file, like this:

- Would that be an appropriate way to provide the copyright notice?

[edit] House filler
I've recently been using the POH Room template to plan out my house, and I tried using the "None" room, but it occupy the space of a whole room, and I think I have tracked down why - using "none" or "filler" uses the image File:House filler.png, but you scaled it down from 100x100px to 100x20px. Why did you do this? I've thought about it for a while and I'm unable to figure out why that was done! So I figured I'd ask, what am I missing? And more importantly, how can I get that all-important 100x100px spacer? Should I upload a new image?

[edit] Trouble with regexes
Hi Amaurice!
I'm a-l-m-o-s-t done with tLULbot; the only thing it is still having trouble with is pages where charms are listed as a drop, but no charm template is found.
Would you be able to help me with a regex for inserting {{/Charm log}} at the end of the drop section containing charms. Here are all the regexes I have been using so far (I have tried many different versions of the last one, but the result is always the same):
private Pattern m_dropCharmPattern = Pattern.compile("===?[^=]*[(drop)||(charm)][^=]*===?[^(==)]*charm", Pattern.CASE_INSENSITIVE);
private Pattern m_charmLogPattern = Pattern.compile("\\{\\{(template:)?charm[ _]table[^}]*}}", Pattern.CASE_INSENSITIVE);
private Pattern m_dropCharmEndPattern = Pattern.compile("===?[^=$]*[(drop)||(charm)][^=$]*===?[^=]*[(gold charm)||(green charm)||(crimson charm)||(blue charm)]+[^=]*==", Pattern.CASE_INSENSITIVE);
match = m_dropCharmEndPattern.matcher(text);
if (match.find())
out.println(monsters.get(i) + ": " + text.substring(0, match.end() - 2) + "{{/Charm log}}\n\n" + text.substring(match.end() - 2));
The first two perform their jobs admirably. The last one hasn't been working at all. Look at where it decided to insert it on the Abyssal guardian page:
...armour, so you shouldn't have to worry about it.

01:35, December 4, 2009 (UTC)
- Of course, a single pipe. I had even been using single pipes in my other regexes! I'm not sure where I got the double pipe idea from (most likely from Java itself, or any of the other C-like languages I have been using). Thanks for pointing that out! Hopefully this part of the code will now work as intended. I will also be checking the 96 affected pages (listed at User:TLULbot/Testing) after I run the bot just in case there are any errors.
