[edit] Usernames
This is my editorial. Ever since I saw Am-says, I requested authority to make a second part.
The first thing most RuneScape players see about another RuneScape player is their name or their amour/clothes. Some usernames are reflections of themselves, such as Bones112 (not real) or Skiller487 (also not real). I prefer names like those. :-)
While some names are random, some are just (mistaked as) random. For example: Maxboison Maxboison probably meant something, but not many people know (some believe it means MaxPoison). Names like Excl are (mistaked) to be random. (Excl is like Excel just so you know.)
[edit] Making a username
When I was beginning to play RuneScape in 2007, I could not think of a username. My friend instead made it for me. It was (of course) Youdead00. Even though people liked it, I hated it. eventually, your name is natural. Some people liked it, some people didn't, but it was a cool name.
If you want to make a username with your name, you can try it. I suggest numbers at the end, because its less popular. Some unpopular names are: Norman, Taigon, Easlie, Georgia, Lennie, Lannie, Leia, (possibly) Lucas, Dwane, Milo, Otis, Cloe and (possibly) Dorothy. It depends on your name, really.
If your want ot make a cool name, like a Yu-Gi-Oh! card, a Pokemon, a movie, a super-hero, or a person, try something similiar to these:
KingkongMan77
DeceptionMan54
Autobot34
Ra Wrath200
GroudonMon195
SpiderCanman13
Darkrai Dream
PikaPower
BatCatJack
If you want a cool username, try these: (Notice: These usernames can be real so they might not work)
Killer Kat23
Maxhit100
Or Maxoutman2
Really, usernames are no big deal. However, I wouldn't suggest doing strange usernames (like Barneylover). After a while, it becomes easier for you to think of usernames. I have helped several people for making usernames. I think your username should reflect yourself, but in a cool way. It shouldn't be hard to forget, and to hard to type. Don't make it super stupid or strange and ask for opinions.
[edit] The Life of a Macroer
Have you ever seen a bot? Bots are gamers too lazy to play RuneScape. A Bot is just a stupid jerk trying to zoom through the Hiscores of other players that actually played. A macroer is a person seeking fame on RuneScape and being rich. A macroer is like a fake superhero that has no guts to actually do the work! they just sit back, do something else, and come back 12 hours later to see their stats! It's just plain lazy! I mean, real work can be hard, but computer work? A macroer is just a person not wanting to bother with skilling. Thankfully, Jagex created Random Events. Sadly, some real players disliked this for they were attacked most of the time. Jagex then banned about 90% of all macroers and retired annoying Random Events.
I don't tolerate macroers at all. Thanks to Jagex, the macroer population has gone down 90% (I think). RuneScape players now know the cost of AFKing. Most players are skilling by themselves, and life is normal. Bots are no longer invading RuneScape. Jagex has banned almost all of them that they won't ever return. Jagex has destroyed Macroing, scamming, and other hackers. However, Mods Beware! There may be more in the shadows!
Warning to Moderators!(This isn't part of the Article, but if you want it to be, notify me on my talk!) Okay.... that was stupid..
Although macroers are mostly banned, they can still come back! It happened in 1943!
Now, back to my editorial.....

[edit] New editorial
And now, I will make a water cooler/editorial for the RSWNP.
Is RuneScape Safe for Kids?
I'm not sure you've noticed this, but more and more kids under
10 years old and over 4 years old are joining RuneScape. Occaisonally, I find a player saying: im six. I don't like
kids barely able to spell being on RuneScape. There is a lot of
bad stuff in RuneScape that can be a bad example. Funorb is safe, but RuneScape may not be safe. There is some swearing that I really don't like, there is a lot of killing, that may be strange, and other stuff. Also, there is people trying to kidnap people on RuneScape and steal identities. Recovery questions, Reporting Abuse, and censoring is helping a lot, but some words aren't censored because the user covers some of the word(like R*u*neSca*p*e). Jagex is doing a great job, but Jagex may not be suitable for 6 year olds. I'm saying that people
shouldn't play RuneScape at a young age, but wait until they're
about 11 or 13. That is the best time to play RuneScape. However, people sometimes get too addictive to video games.
It isn't good to be playing RuneScape all day, every day.
The main reason I was typing that you shouldn't play RuneScape too much was because people at a younger age get more addictive. And playing video games all day, eating fast food, isn't the best diet in the world. Whenever I play RuneScape, I almost never play over 1 hour. So if you're younger, you might be a video game addict. The Stronghold of Player Safety (SOPS) is a great place to learn about Reporting Abuse, and (of course) player safety. Jagex doesen't want younger players having their identities stolen. I suggest Funorb if you find it fun. There is no chatting in [almost] all the games.
Only one NPC so far has ever sworn. I don't like that, and I'm glad that is only for members. I would protect my account the best I can (recovery questions, bank pin, ect.) . But also stay healthy. Little kids might become addictve the younger they are
(Some can't read, and they have Nintendo DS Lites). So, IS
RuneScape safe for kids? Well, it depends. I suggest ages 10 and up.
[edit] Grand Exchange. Good or bad?
(Preview) The Grand Exchange has been the center of money-making for 1-2 years now. However, is it good or bad?(End preview)
Ever since the update of the Grand Exchange, RuneScape players, rich and poor, have been trading there. The grand Exchange has crashed many people's trading methods to nothing. If you indorse the RuneScape Wiki Post Wiki newspaper, there is an article about the eras of trading. Note that the earliest methods of money-making was buying an item for 100 coins, and selling it in a different region for 200 or more coins. When the Grand Exchange was released, the hard work was erased, and was replaced by simply trading uncooked, or logs on the G.E. market. The money is simply tossed around and maybe even destroyed from the game by buying some buckets or bowls, or willow logs from the General Store. The following example will show you what I mean.
Example 1: Players but maple logs for fletching, then sell maple bows, which are bought and sold after leveling, then are destroyed by High Alchemy, which will generate coins, but destroys the maple bow, thus starting the process all over again.
This process may take a long time, but it is how it may work (maybe the ranger will keep his bow). Here is another example if you are unsure.
Example 2: A player sells logs on the Grand Exchange which are bought by a player. The player the lights logs he bought. Then, he takes the ashes, and sells them. Members buy them for Herblore experience, then making Serum 207, and maybe doing it over and over for a long time. Eventually, the user will stop, and stop buying ashes.
This example may not happen, but it can. There is other ways to make money with out the GE, but I won't list them as there are many that don't exist. There are many ways a player would make his money, and one of them is scavenging.
Scavengers are as you know, people that search for items on the ground. There are also misers, which are about the same thing. A scavenger is a person that trains, but when he/she (maybe a girl) comes across a pile of bones, logs, or ore, he/she may take the items and sell them for no effort. I, however am a "Scavenger" myself.
So, coming the end of my editorial, as I am tired because I have been typing for a long time now, here is the main question: Was the Grand Exchange a good idea? The answer is: YES! However, in a different perspective, NO. It depends on your opinion, not someone elses. Thank you for reading this, and have a good day.
Sincerly,
