From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape
Sorry this is going to be basic... but for now, that's all it's going to be.
I've been playing Runescape almost since its inception. I play far less now than I used to... but that's the reality of being an adult. I have all the normal adult responsibilities that adults have... and my time is limited by all those activities.
Some general factoids about me are that I'm a college graduate, I have played video games since I was in the 5th grade and I own several computers. My level of time spent playing RS per day goes anywhere from 0-12 hours per day... though I rarely ever spend more than a few hours a day playing anymore. Yes, I have put in a few 12-16 hour marathon days... but that hasn't happened for a few years.
As for my character on RS... lets say... I'm ranked in the top 10K easy... and I own "some" level 99 skills. In some of those skills, I'm ranked close to the top of the pile (and maybe even at the top in one - Ha!). I've completed all the quests... and usually do every new quest when it comes out. I've pretty much been everywhere there is to go all over the RS map... though I haven't visited many places in so long, the odds are high that they will look different to me from the last time due to updates.
As a player... I try to train efficiently when I do actually train... and I've been known to spend a lot of time figuring out the best ways to do just that. ROFL... the sad part of that is... I actually train LESS efficiently than I could because I waste so much time recording facts that allow me to write guides and correct idiots that think they know what they're talking about. Whoops!
Speaking of guides and idiots... that's one of my greatest pet peeves about RS. There is so much bad information out there... it isn't even funny. You will find that even on the official RS forums... but what can you expect from a bunch of kids? They're prone to do nothing more than repeat what others tell them whether it's correct or not. They also tend to not do things scientifically... which means the information they often give out is bad from second one since they just don't know any better. What works for me is not what you think... it's what you can PROVE that counts. Of course what you can prove... can also be proven by anyone else that does what you do or in some cases, what you DID.
Anyway... I stumbled across the Runescape Wiki... and eventually I decided that I might input a few things here and there over time... who knows. It's all about what time I have and whether or not I'm up to it. Hopefully, if I do choose to input more information... I'll also learn the ropes far more than I have.
Thanks for reading... The Possum
PS If you wish to contact me off-Wiki... feel free to do so.
The current general purpose E-mail address I use is:
wootunes@yahoo.com
though I'll eventually ditch it for another one when the spam level gets too high. Please input "RS Wiki" into the header... so I make sure I look at the message. Sometimes... I just erase what looks to be like spam messages, that's why it's impotant :-)
PSS No... I'd rather not speak casually to anyone in-game on RS unless I have a really good reason to. I already have friends there... and I've found that if I get too "popular", those relationships suffer which is the last thing I want to happen. Answering questions also really cuts into my game play... so I rarely do it anymore. My best advice to give if you need help is to:
A) Figure out stuff for yourself. B) Read the official RS forums... because they sometimes do have good info on them in spite of all the garbage! C) Read some of the better fansites such as Rune Tips and RuneMonkey (though there are a few other decent ones too). D) Consult with your current friends to see what they do... you never know, one of them might have thought up something nobody else knows about that just rocks! E) Consult with other players that are already training a skill that you want to train or are training... when you stumble across them in-game. They just might be willing to impart some friendly info or tips if you're nice to them.
