[edit] Introduction:
I am sure that most able adventurers know of Sir Amik Varze, the "temporary" king of Falador and Asgarnia, and the leader of the White Knights. Some of you might wish to know his biography, so I personally interviewed him in the White Knight's Castle Court Yard, to write this brief biography of the one, the only, and the great, Sir Amik Varze of the White Knights... From now on, Amik will be speaking.
[edit] My Parents:
Neither I nor my parents were born in Falador. In fact, my parents were born and raised in completely different places. My father, Patrick Varze, was a popular miner from Port Khazard, because of the huge mine to the south-west. He lived there in the time when the port was still popular. Now days, it is barely populated. My Mother, Janie Jackson (her father was Grandpa Jack, who apparently didn't have a last name, so they called her Jack's son, or Jackson), was from Hemenster, where her parents taught her to fish. She eventually become a good fisherman, or perhaps I should say fisherwoman, even though most people wouldn't buy from her. You see, in those days, throughout the world (except Hemenster, Kandarin), woman weren't "allowed" to be fishermen. In search of fishing oppurtunities, she left the small fishing town, and headed to another, Port Khazard, where she would meet Murphy, who hadn't created his Fishing Trawler yet. With her help, Murphy raised enough money to buy a boat, and started that business with her. My father and my mother met eventually, and fell in love instantly. They lived together in the Port for a while, until they decided to move to Port Sarim, a booming port, with fishing industries, and near the Dwarven mines...
[edit] Before My Birth:
The same year that Patrick Varze and Janie Jackson arrived in Port Sarim, my brother was born. They named him Dezzick Varze-Jackson. Because of Port Sarim's popularity, my parents couldn't afford a home inside the city, so they moved into the nearby village of Rimmington. Also that year, my father, who wanted to start mining in Falador, accidentally stumbled upon a vast amount of metal, just north of Rimmington. After gathering all the men he could find, they dug a huge crater, filled with various ores and rocks. Patrick bought the area of land from the Government of Asgarnia, which didn't know of the hoard of ore. My father set up an industry, Rimmington-Varze Mining Industry, where all the citizens of the village worked from then on. He became an important businessman.
My mother, on the other hand, was the most able fisherwoman in or around Port Sarim, and was also better than all the other Fishermen. She helped destroy the stereotype that only men could fish. She, too, became an important person, and would go to Catherby every year with loads of fish. Soon they married in Falador, and she became Janie Varze (she wouldn't accept being called Mrs. Patrick Varze, which to her was another stereotype).
[edit] Growing up:
Finally, after they were in Asgarnia for seven years, I was born, Amik Varze of Rimmington. Since my parents were often gone, my brother Dezzick had to take care of me, with the help of a neighbour. Growing up was okay. My parents, on their spare time would teach me mining, and fishing, and me and my brother would tend the house while they were away. At first, my brother loved me, but as I grew older, my parents figured that he would become an able fisherman, or miner, and they spent most of their free time with me. He soon began to resent me. When my sister, Guinevere, was born that helped a bit. They spent more time with her, although my brother still held a bit of resentment. My brother, by this time, was becoming more of a fisherman than a miner. When my sister was older, she would want both of us to come play with her. It was the only time Daniel wouldn't mind being with me. When my brother was 18, he made it clear that he wasn't going to Tutorial Island University. Instead, he wanted to go to Musa Point, Karamja, to pitch in on the growing lobster fishing industries. I was 11, and my sister was 6. She too seemed to want to be a fisherwoman. This disappointed my father, who wanted one of his children to follow his foosteps. He looked to me for that, but I wouldn't give it to him. I felt like something more awaited me in life. I had read many stories of brave adventurers, and I looked up to Arrav, Wally, and the others. When I became of age, also, instead of doing either fishing or mining (which just ruined my father, I must unfortunately add), I decided to go Tutorial Island. I spent the next few years there, but soon would come an unfortunate time.
[edit] A series of Unfortunate Events:
In my second year at the University, Patrick Varze died from cancer, which came from all the harmful metallic dust he was breathing in every day. With no one to give his mine to, the Government of Asgarnia opened it up to the public, and now people from across the world came to mine, especially since it was so near to the newly founded Crafting Guild. My family was left with a great amount of money, but his deathly was a heavy blow. My brother, even though he had an opposite job, was sort of following in his footsteps. Dezzick built a wooden bridge that hovered over the water to make it easier for him and other fishermen to cage lobsters easily, and to have a better chance of harpooning sharks. It made him known among the fishers, and soon he set up his very own business.
My mother continued her fishing, and when Guinevere was 15, my mother decided to bring her with her to Catherby to trade fish. Unfortunately, there was a severe storm, so none of the sailors would bring them to Catherby. They had to go on foot. They left extra-early to get there on time. They went through Falador, but the roads to Taverley weren't built yet. The map my mother and sister had was old, and wasn't very detailed either, and they eventually got lost. They stumbled upon the Black Knight's castle, and were executed for trespassing. This was before King Vallence, and the war between the black and white knights was in full blow.
This was even worse than when Patrick died. For this time, they could have been saved, and it was both of them at the same moment. I was affected deeply, and I left the University in the middle of my studies, and went to the monks of Entrana to help me.
My brother was affected even more so. He stopped fishing, since every time he looked into the water and saw a fish, all he could think about was Janie and Guinevere Varze. He took up mining instead, and went all over. He went to the Kharid mines, and as his father would have liked, he went to the Khazard mines. He couldn't bear to mine in Rimmington, either.
[edit] Falador:
I had spent a couple years on Entrana, when I decided to step back into the real world. My brother still didn't like me, and we rarely talked. I found myself in Port Sarim, and oddly, I felt that I would be honoring my family more if I did what I wanted to in the first place: I wanted to become an adventurer.
But I didn't want to become just any adventurer. I decided that I would avenge my mother and sister. I would destroy the Black Knights. So, I turned to their enemies, the White Knights. Since I had been on Entrana, I didn't know that the war was slowly calming down. The White Knight's didn't need any more warriors, and wouldn't take any new ones, unless they were extremely special. I knew that I couldn't beg my way in, so I adventu...um, I adventurized... Liwolf, is that a word? No? Okay, but you know what I mean. Just, cut that out for me, later. Anyway, back to the story. I became a true adventurer. I witheld my desire for revenge on the Black Knights, and I went helping everyone, and killing everything I could find. I traveled all the kingdoms, and I even adventured deep into Fremennik and Kharidian Territory, which in those times were almost unheard of. Morytania was only a myth. I killed desert creatures, and barbarian ghosts, I slayed dragons, and trapped demons, I maged warriors, slayed rangers, ranged mages, and so on. My name slowly became known in higher places. The next time I talked to the White Knights, they gladly took me in as a page.
I slowly rose through the ranks, becoming a noble, and then an adept. King Vallence was in rule of Asgarnia, and hadn't sided with either the White or Black Knights. When he started his campaign to create peace between the two enemies, and to get both of us to help eachother for greater good. I hated him and his idea. Actually, I honestly believed, and I still do, that he was Guthixian, because of his need for balance. Me, though, I wanted the Black Knights dead.
One evening, when I was off-duty, I stumbled into Vallence's Palace, and listened in on his Speach for Peace. After listening to him for an hour, I changed my mind. I realized that the fate of Asgarnia was more important than my vengeance. I knew that my parents would want me to help the greater good instead of creating revenge when it wouldn't bring my family back anyway. I started to come to all of his speaches, and sometimes I would make appearances, and being a White Knight, people listened to me. They were surprised to hear a White Knight who wanted an alliance between the two groups. Vallence grew to like me, and he promoted me to Master. Soon, I was his second-in-command. After we created the alliance, I had Black Knights working under me, and with me. We struggled to fix Asgarnia's problems. We built the Port Sarim Jail, imprisoning all the pirates, mugglers, out-of-control goblins and thieves we could find. Crime slowly came down. We created better ties with the Dwarves, Goblins, and Druids. The army was growing. The Black Knights didn't work in Falador, even if it was the capital, because it was always white, but the peace was strong. Until Vallance disappeared.
After Vallance disappeared, I became commander-in-chief. I spent as many resources as I could to find him. I don't know what happened to him. It could be the Black Knights, by Saradomin, maybe even the Tempal Knights. Some people think it was the White Knights. If it was, I had nothing to do with it. He was my friend. After I took command, the Black Knights started battles again, and Asgarnia was once more at war.
[edit] Conclusion and Present:
My brother still hates me, especially with my high rank in the world. After all, I do rule temporarily, one of Gielinor's strongest nations. Luckily, for him, he has a pretty good job, too. After mining for a while in Kharid, he came to Lumbridge on a vacation. The Lumbridge Tutor told him of a job at Tutorial Island. The Mining Instructor had retired, and they needed a new one. Dezzick Varze-Jackson jumped at the job immediately. I am sure that most of you have met him. Yes, that's right, Liwolf. Yes, the Mining Instructor at TUI is my brother. Why didn't he tell you? He hates me, remember, he doesn't want to be associated with me no matter who I am. Actually, I've been trying to become friends with him again, but he hasn't responded to my letters. No, I'm sure Postie Pete got them to the island.
Anyhow, Asgarnia and the Black Knight's are at a stalemate right now. I don't think that we can have an alliance until I find Vallence, if he's still alive. That's my whole tale, for now. I'll still be around for a long time... I am Sir Amik Varze, the Ruler of Falador, Asgarnia, and the White Knights. Long Live Gielinor.
