Hello, my name is (obviously) Icy001 and I play RuneScape as Icy001 (click for hi-scores link). I am a level 96 F2P player and I have been playing on/off RuneScape since 2005. I joined the RuneScape Wiki in March 2008.

I have finished smelting all my runite ore into runite bars. Right now, I am marveling at the fact that runite ore prices have gone up quite a lot, but even more surprisingly, runite bars have gone up even more! I sometimes play Fist of Guthix and The Great Orb Project from time to time and try to get as many tokens as I can, as well as train other skills. I will also occassionally log on to PvP worlds to see what it is like.

Outside of RuneScape, I am also known for being a math geek. I have participated in the 2008 MATHCOUNTS National Competition and my team placed 4th out of 57. This year, my current goal is to make AIME and possibly USAMO. I have already taken the AIME, and I stand in an extremely desirable position for USAMO qualification.

Unlike most people, I don't sell my ores after each inventory. Whenever I mine runite, I make sure to smelt it and add it to my bank of runite bars.

[edit] New feature to Smithing

This borrows its idea from Runecrafting (namely, double runes) as well as the Blast Furnace. I propose that there be a certain level of smithing in which the number of coal required to smelt an ore is halved. For example, at 60 Smithing, you would only need 1 coal to smelt a Steel bar. And at 80 Smithing, you would only need 2 coal to smelt a Mithril bar. And at 95 Smithing, you would only need 3 coal to smelt an Adamantite bar.

Some of you may argue, "Well that makes Smithing easy to level up!" but then I say, "This is exactly like the Blast Furnace, except that the Blast Furnace doesn't need a level requirement!" In addition, the level requirements for these bonuses are quite high.

Also, this will enhance the enjoyable part of Smithing without becoming "bored" obtaining all the coal to smelt it, but you will still need a certain (high) level to reach that.

In a practical view, this also makes sense, as the more "skilled" you are as a smither, the more able you will be to separate the metal from the ore without requiring too much coal.

I think everybody by now knows that the skill of Magic is useless in free-to-play combat-wise. The HIGHEST spell, the one that does the most damage, the one that even level 99 mages are stuck with in F2P, is... Fire Blast. Such a disappointment. A max hit of 16? So it is basically futile to train magic beyond level 59? Basically, in F2P, the only option if you are to engage in PvP combat is melee. Ranged? A joke. The highest you can get is maple shortbow and adamant arrows. Ha. And GREEN dragonhide armour. Magic? The armor is so weak that even if a level 99 mage were fighting against a warrior, he would lose. The spells are so limited that it is practically useless in the world of F2P PvP combat.

• I think it is time to introduce the Wave spells to non-members. With the addition of TWO new spellbooks that are exclusively members-only, the inclusion of Wave spells will not only make the standard spellbook consistent, but will slightly enhance the advantages and variety of Magic in F2P. (Fear not, members, you will still get the features of ancient magicks and lunar magics, all exclusively for you! Honestly, do you even use the Wave spells anymore?) Please, if you do anything, make the Wave spells available to non-members.
• Teleother - Again, free players should also be able to take advantage of this tool.

At this point, you are saying, "But they require the use of runes that are members-only!" Easy solution: Make those runes (i.e. blood and soul) available to non-members. Magic has evolved so much for members over the years that the mere availability of blood and soul runes to non-members will still leave a vast majority of Magic functionality to members.

• Icy001 has never been level 59. He was level 58 when he did the Dragon Slayer quest and became level 60 afterward, as a result of the combat experience reward.
