Hello, and welcome to my small corner of the web! I'm Elkayen, also known on Runescape as Elkayen. I've been playing off and on for about 3 years now, and have been enjoying it all the time. I've been a member for about a year now, and after some level grinding, I've been questing like crazy.

I'm never really in one location, so you'll be lucky to find me. You can usually find me in world 104 (home world), world 60 (for Great Orb Project), or world 77 (if I'm there, I'm playing Shades of Mort'ton, most likely).

Other hobbies include programming, computers, the Internets in general, reading, writing, art, biking, socializing, and pondering the great questions of our time.

Other video games I play include Halo 3 (XBL Gamertag: dsweenLKN), Halo PC (name: White Tiger), BF2 (currently not working, so unlikely), and TF2.

Online, I read Gizmodo, Ars Technica, Slashdot (rarely), and Kotaku blogwise; I interact on Bungie.net and sometimes the Runescape forum; and I read the following webcomics:

I got introduced to Runescape in 2005, when I created an account on my friend's computer. I got through the tutorial and wandered around, but I didn't play again for almost a year. When my family got DSL in 2006, I remembered that I still had that old Runescape account. I logged in again and started to play and quest. I was quite the newb, however; I lost the emerald from Pirate's Treasure to a scammer, and I nearly lost my account to another. Luckily, I had just set my recovery questions, so I was able to retrieve my account. I got through most of the F2P quests within those first couple months, did a little level grinding, then promptly got a little bored. I eventually got my brother and my father interested. My brother quit after a couple months, but my dad's been playing ever since. Somehow, he tolerates the level grinding; apparantly the secret is to watch TV while playing. Genius, I guess. He's almost level 100 now, but I'm slowly gaining.

I finally got membership May 2007, and I've never looked back. I did a lot of the easy P2P quests, then got bored again when I realized I had to level grind. As sort of a birthday gift this year, my dad took my character and went through some more powerleveling (when I asked him, he said he wanted to relive how fun it was to blow through those early levels; I suspected as much). I've been going on a questing streak recently, and it's been quite fun. Recently, I've been slowly questing, so I can maximize the quests I have left for Tears of Guthix. Extremely recently, I've been trying to do some of the tougher quests, such as the Legends Quest and Recipe for Disaster.

My favorite minigames include Shades of Mort'ton, Trouble Brewing, The Great Orb Project, and the Agility Arena. I've just completed Lunar Diplomacy, and I'm currently grinding and making money through Miscellania.

Well, that was quite a mouthful, and I doubt anyone will read through all of it (if so, congrats), so I'll end this section.

In case you're wondering, my name comes from my very first online username. It was on a Bionicle message board (I loved it then, and I still do, though I guess to a lesser extent; nerd I am, nerd I be), and I was going for Lehvak Kal (an enemy at the time), but I didn't put in a real email address. I tried again, but did Lehvak Kal Nuva (Nuva was a word for a more powerful hero; long story), or LKN for short. Elkayen is those letters with the sounds spelled out (L="El"; K="kay"; N="en"). I'm glad I messed up with my name, or I'd have been Elkay!

Sadly for me, I live in Long Beach, MS. It's a smallish town, less than 20,000 people. Not much to do, but the larger cities of Gulfport and Biloxi are just to the east. I'm pretty much halfway in between Mobile, AL, and New Orleans, LA. Crazy. Before anybody asks, yeah, we got hit by Katrina, no, it wasn't bad for us, and no, we're not done rebuilding. Glad that's out of the way.

[edit] Recent Adventures

I've just completed Monkey Madness, and I freed Awowogei in Recipe for Disaster. I now have only one more subquest: freeing Sir Amik Varze. I've also done a lot of questing in the elven lands of Tirannwn, completing Regicide, Roving Elves, and Catapult Construction in the same day.

Next, I think I'll do Legends Quest to get into the Legends Guild. I've been meaning to do it for a while now, but I haven't ever gotten around to it. After that, I think Horror from the Deep, then I'll go after the conclusion of RFD. Then, I dunno, Defender of Varrock and some of those small quests I've put off.

I've gotten all my melee stats above 60, so I can now use Dragon equipment! My next goals are 65, so I can wield 3rd age equipment (like I'll ever be able to afford it). I'm currently found training range on Lunar Isle (Suqahs are about the easiest beasts I can kill that drop level 3 clue scrolls).

Another successful day of questing has left me with the Legends Quest, Horror from the Deep, and Recipe for Disaster completed! Now, I can wield the dragon square shield, complete god books, and Barrows gloves! WOOOOOOOOOO PARTY

I finally unlocked the Air Guitar emote after unlocking all music tracks that didn't require quests! I have also been killing jellies and green dragons for clues scrolls, which have been earning me a good wage. Getting my firemaking up allowed me to get the Ring of fire, so I now have a boost for future training. I have also killed a couple of shades, getting me shade robes, completing my random event clothing set. Finally, I have gained access to all guilds, and have been killing cyclopes for defenders!

Well, sorry about the lack of updates. I got kind of tired of playing for a while, so I let my dad level my account for a while. As you can see, he's done a lot of work since then. I've upgraded my house, done a few more achievements, and have generally tried to get into the swing of things again. I might try questing again, if I feel like really getting back into RS.

I'm planning on hosting a house party at level 62 construction or so. By that point, I'll have put in my throne room, and all of my above-ground construction will be complete. I may postpone until 68 or 69, because I'll have put in my oubliette at 68, and my gilded altar at 69. We'll see.

I am getting closer and closer to 62 construction; I'm 60 now. I'm having fun watching myself get closer and closer. If you have any tips, feel free to drop me a line.

UPDATE: Well, that didn't happen really. I'm now at 69 construction, and have put in my throne room, oubliette, second quest hall, and menagerie. I've also upgraded a lot of rooms, including putting in a gilded altar! If I decide on a party, I'll post stuffs here.

Anyone know how best to get a Shade random event? I've been trying but have been unsuccessful. If you have any suggestions, post on my talk page.

OH HEY ANOTHER UPDATE: Never mind. Turns out I got a couple shades in a row soon after I wrote that. Thus, no more random event clothing left. But thanks for the tips!
