Words displayed in the color blue is a link to another article (page) that goes into more detail, or a relevant website. However, to keep from navigating from the current article that you're reading, such as this one, it's best to right-click on the link, and then left-click on either "Open (Link) in New Tab" or "Open (Link) in New Window", depending upon what web browser you are using.
Most of what's in these Guides can be found here on RuneScape Wiki, so why bother writing these Guides? Instead of having to follow one article to another article to yet, another article, etc., etc., most of the information is provided on a single page dedicated and devoted to a single aspect of RuneScape.

[edit] Runecrafting And Rune running
Please also refer to: Money making guide/Runecrafting
The great thing about the Runecrafting Skill is that anyone can make money from it, both F2P (Free-to-play) Players or P2P (Pay-to-play) Members, and whether you have Runecrafting Level 99 or just Level 1. Here's my Runecrafting and Rune running Guide, in more detail, on how to efficiently Runecraft and/or Rune running...
- Runecrafter - Either crafts the Runes themselves, or help others Runecraft Essence into Runes at a Runecrafting altar by using the Assist System.
- Rune Runner - Gathers Essence by either Mining it at a Rune Essence mine or purchasing Essence at the Grand Exchange, and then taking the Essence to a Runecrafting altar to have a Runecrafter help them Runecraft the Essence into Runes using the Assist System. They then either use these Runes to raise their Magic level or sell these Runes at the Grand Exchange for profit.
- NOTE TO RUNE RUNNERS: The best time for Rune Runners is when the Runecrafting altar isn't busy, and there's little or no wait for a Runecrafter to assist you Runecrafting Runes using the Assist System, which is usually during the day on weekdays. Also remember to form a straight line at busy Runecrafting altars on Rune running worlds! Most Runecrafters will make Rune Runners go to the back of the line if they see someone jump in front of someone else! If you see someone jump line, say something about it to the Runecrafter! If using a tabbed web browser, such as Internet Explorer 7+ or Mozilla Firefox, always keep a tab opened on the RuneScape's Hiscores page, at http://hiscore.runescape.com/, so that you can quickly check Runecrafters' Runecrafting level. Unfortunately, many Runecrafters may be dishonest about their Runecrafting level, especially on Air running and Nature running worlds. If you do find Runecrafters on these worlds with very high Runecrafting levels (at least Runecrafting Level 91+), ask them if you can add them to your Friends List for future reference. Here's the Runecrafting levels you want to look for in an honest Runecrafter:
- Air running World 16: At least Runecrafting Level 88 for crafting nine times the Air runes or Level 99 for crafting ten times the Air runes
- Mind running World 33: At least Runecrafting Level 84 for crafting seven times the Mind runes or Level 98 for crafting eight times the Mind runes
- Chaos running World 46: Runecrafting Level 74 for crafting double of the amount of Chaos runes
- Nature running World 36: Runecrafting Level 91 for crafting double of the amount of Nature runes
- NOTE TO RUNE RUNNERS: The best time for Rune Runners is when the Runecrafting altar isn't busy, and there's little or no wait for a Runecrafter to assist you Runecrafting Runes using the Assist System, which is usually during the day on weekdays. [edit] The Abyss
If you quickly scan through my Runecrafting and Rune running Guide, you'll notice that most of it has to do whether or not you're gonna use the Abyss for Runecrafting or Rune running. If you're a F2P (Free-to-play) Player, then this choice is fairly simple since only P2P (Pay-to-play) Members have access to the Abyss. So, just ignore anything you read that pertains to the Abyss. However, for P2P (Pay-to-play) Members, this is a choice that has mostly to do with your current Skills and Items, your goals, and how much you want to make money or level from the Runecrafting Skill. The Abyss can be a fairly dangerous place, especially for those with low Combat levels, and even more dangerous just getting there! Most of the recommended Items for using the Abyss aren't for the Abyssal Monsters down there, but the Revenants you may encounter along the way through the Wilderness! However, the time you save using the Abyss can greatly outweigh its risks. The average time running to and from the Bank in Edgeville is about 1 minute 30 seconds (also includes using an Amulet of glory to teleport back to Edgeville), which is usually much faster than running to most Runecrafting altars from the nearest Bank and back.
[edit] Note To F2P (Free-to-play) Players
Along with not able to use the Abyss mentioned above, unfortunately, when it comes to Runecrafting, Quests, Skills, and Items you can use to aid you in either Runecrafting and/or Rune running is quite limited. The choice F2P (Free-to-play) Players have are whether you want to make money from Mining Rune essence at a Rune Essence mine and then selling the Rune essence on the Grand Exchange, or to do Air running on World 16, and sell your Air runes on the Grand Exchange. Most of the Quests, Skills, and Items listed below are only available to P2P (Pay-to-play) Members. I'll label anything both available and beneficial to (Free-to-play) Players with "(F2P)" afterwards.

[edit] Rune running Worlds To Use
There's several worlds designated for Runecrafting specific Runes. They are:
- Air running: World 16 (only official Rune running world available to F2P (Free-to-play) Players, still very popular, and is most profitable if Runecrafters' levels are 99)
- Mind running: World 33 (also available to F2P (Free-to-play) Players, but is rarely ever used, and is no longer official)
- Chaos running: World 46 (also rarely ever used, and is no longer official)
- Nature running: World 36 (most profitable for P2P (Pay-to-play) Members Rune Runners if Runecrafters' levels are 91 or better)
- Law running: Worlds 66 and 99 (still used and although official, not nearly as popular as it used to be since Rune Runners make more profit from double-crafting Nature runes from level 94+ Runecrafters)
- Ourania Runecrafting Altar: World 70 (the more people running on this world, the less you'll get hurt!)
[edit] Strategies
The strategies for using the Abyss is somewhat different than when you're not. Also, having 28 Amulets of glory will allow you to teleport up to 112 times before you have to stop and recharge all of your Amulets of glory! Even if you only use a Small pouch, carrying 30 Pure essences at a time, allows you to make at least 3360 Runes at a time without having to stop and recharge all of your Amulets of glory!
- Everyone: Lightweight Items, including Weight-reducing equipment
- Using the Abyss: Protective gear, especially against the Magic Attack style of Revenants
- NOT using the Abyss: Prayer items that give Prayer bonuses for extending the time of Rapid Restore so you can Run (Energy) for longer periods of time.
[edit] Using The Abyss
Unless you will be using the Assist System for Air running or Law running, always use World 36 (Nature running World) to use the Abyss. This world is usually highly populated, thus increasing your chance of not getting hurt nearly as often, even if you're not Nature running.
- First, re-arrange your Bank account where your Pure essence, all Amulets of glory, Food, Potions, Summoning pouches, Summoning scrolls, and any other Items you may use are next to each other and are quickly accessible.
- Wear/wield your charged Amulet of glory, Boots of lightness, Dragonhide, Explorer's ring 3, Penance gloves, Rune pickaxe, all Pouch (Runecrafting)s, and Spotted cape/Spottier cape.
- Withdraw as many Essence as you can hold, click on each Pouch (Runecrafting) to fill them all, and then withdraw again so that your Inventory is full again.
- After you've entered the Abyss, head for the first gap to squeeze through or mine rocks (whichever you come to first).
- Keep a constant eye on your Hitpoints while in the Wilderness and the Outer Ring of the Abyss, on your Amulet of glory charges, and also if your Pouch (Runecrafting)s have degraded.
- After making your Runes, use your Amulet of glory at the Runecrafting altar to teleport back to Edgeville.
- Eat Food when needed, change out your uncharged Amulet of glory for a fully charged one, while banking.
- Visit the Dark mage (Abyss) in the center of the Abyss when any of your Pouch (Runecrafting) begin to degrade.
- When all of your Amulets of glorys' charges are used, remove all of them all from your Bank account (including wearing one of them), and either cast the Teleport to House spell or use your House teleport tablet to teleport to your Player-owned house. Run up to the Hero's Guild, recharge your Amulets of glory at the fountain in the cavern below, return back to your Player-owned house, and use the Amulet of glory Guild Trophy to teleport back to Edgeville
[edit] NOT Using The Abyss
- First, re-arrange your Bank account where your Pure essence and all Amulets of glory, Games necklaces, Ring of duellings, Potions, Summoning pouches, Summoning scrolls, and any other Items you may use are next to each other and quickly accessible.
- Wear/wield your Amulet of glory/Games necklace, Boots of lightness, Explorer's ring 3 (not allowed in Entrana)/Ring of duelling, Monk's robes, Penance gloves//Runecrafting gloves, Small pouch, and Spotted cape/Spottier cape.
- Withdraw as many Essence as you can hold, click on the Small Pouch to fill it, and then withdraw again so that your Inventory is full again.
- Turn on your Rapid Restore and your Run (Energy).
- Keep a constant eye on your Prayer points and Amulet of glory charges, Games necklace charges, or Ring of duelling charges.
- After making your Runes, use your Amulet of glory, Games necklace, or Ring of duelling at the Runecrafting altar to teleport back to nearest town with a Bank, such as Draynor Village if you're Law running, or to the most convenient Bank Deposit Box. to
- When your Prayer points reaches in the single digits, run towards the nearest Altar, use a House teleport tablet, or cast Teleport to House spell to recharge.
- When all of your Amulets of glorys' charges are used, remove all of them all from your Bank account (including wearing one of them), and either cast the Teleport to House spell or use your House teleport tablet to teleport to your Player-owned house. Run up to the Hero's Guild, recharge your Amulets of glory at the fountain in the cavern below, return back to your Player-owned house, and use the Amulet of glory Guild Trophy to teleport back to the most convenient town.
Tip.It RuneScape Help has a great, detailed Getting Around Guide
[edit] Power levelling Runecrafting to Level 44
If you want to be self-sufficient and make Runes yourself, you don't start making any decent money until you can start making Nature runes at Runecrafting Level 44. Thus, getting to Level 44 can take a lot of time and patience, depending upon how much money you want to spend getting there. There's a few different methods for achieving Runecrafting Level 44...
- Mine Rune essence at a Rune Essence mine to make Elemental runes, Mind runes, and Body runes yourself to save money, but is much slower.
- Purchase Rune essence at the Grand Exchange to make Elemental runes, Mind runes, and Body runes to save time, but you'll lose money.
- Craft or buy Tiaras along with purchase Talismans at the Grand Exchange in lots of 14 for faster Runecrafting Experience, but you'll lose a lot of money. Rune Talismans are many times more expensive than their equivalent Rune Tiara.
- Use the Ourania Runecrafting Altar for faster Runecrafting Experience, but you'll probably lose money if you purchase your Pure essence at the Grand Exchange. Also, to access the nearest Bank without having to teleport elsewhere, you'll only want to trade 20 of either the cheapest Runes, which are Fire runes, or the least used Runes, such as Mind runes and Body runes. It's a very good idea to bring multiples of 20 Fire runes, Mind runes, or Body runes with you each time you start using this altar. The official Ourania Runecrafting Altar Runecrafting world is world 70
- I raised my Crafting, Mining, and Runecrafting levels by Mining about a hundred Silver ores at a time, and then Crafting those into Tiaras using a Tiara mould at a Furnace. I then Banked them all, and picked-up any and all Talismans I came across, including Drops by other Players. Once I had collected over 28 Air talismans along with many other Talismans, I would then Runecraft all of these Talismans and Tiaras into Rune Tiaras. Repeat this process until you reach the desired levels! A good place to find dropped Talismans is around the Guards in Falador.
- If you get bored "grinding", completing these quests also reward Runecrafting Experience, and these quests reward Experience in any Skill of your choosing.

[edit] Runecrafting Mini-Achievements
- Level 25 - Use Medium pouch (for holding six Essences)
- Level 27 - Runecrafting Cosmic runes (make very small profit if purchase Pure essence from the Grand Exchange)
- Level 44 - Runecrafting Nature runes (better profit compared to Runecrafting single Cosmic runes)
- Level 50 - Access to the Runecrafting Guild, and use Large pouch (for holding nine Essences)
- Level 54 - Runecrafting Law runes (better profit compared to Runecrafting single Nature runes)
- Level 59 - Runecrafting double the amount of Cosmic runes (profit is almost the same as Law runes)
- Level 65 - Death runes (Runecraft only for personal use or Runecrafting Experience, but NOT for profit!)
- Level 75 - Use Giant pouch (for holding twelve Essences)
- Level 77 - Blood runes (Runecraft only for personal use or Runecrafting Experience, but NOT for profit!)
- Level 90 - Soul runes can only be Runecrafted in the Ourania Runecrafting Altar as they do not yet have an Runecrafting altar of their own. However, images of the Soul talisman and Soul tiara have been leaked in the Knowledge Base, by making their URLs very easy to guess. This, coupled with the fact that there is a Soul rift in the Abyss (that cannot be used), this shows that this Rune will probably become craftable sometime in the future.
- Level 91 - Runecraft double the amount of Nature runes (this is when you really start making good profits from Runecrafting!)
- Level 99 - Wear Runecraft cape and Runecraft 10 times the amount of Air runes (Runecraft only for personal use, but NOT for profit!)
[edit] Note To Runecrafters
Please read these tips of advice...
[edit] Runecrafters Level 50+
If you are a Runecrafter with a Runecrafting Level of 50+ and getting bored of Runecrafting, visit the Runecrafting Guild and try playing The Great Orb Project. It's a fun way of gaining Runecrafting Experience, and maybe even make a little money in the process, too!
[edit] Runecrafters Level 94+
- Once you have achieved the coveted Runecrafting Level 94, you can either continue to make money by Nature running Pure essence and Runecrafting your own Nature runes, or you can concentrate on Runecrafting Experience by hanging-out at the Nature running World 36 Nature altar and help others Runecraft their Nature runes using the Assist System. You get the Runecrafting Experience, and the Nature rune Runners get the double of the amount of Nature runes from their Pure essence. Most of the time, this is the fastest way of getting Runecrafting Experience from level 94 to 99. You may also want to familiarize yourself with Quick Chat. For example, to quickly alert Nature rune Runners that you're assisting and also of your Runecrafting Level, press these keyboard keys in the following sequence:
- Enter
- G
- E
- G
- 6
- F11 (to instantly repeat Steps 1 - 5 above)
Also, you can publicly say "Open 2x". Most Nature rune Runners will know what this means, but newbies may not.
- For most Runecrafters, the best times to assist Nature rune Runners is on the weekends, especially at night. Try to schedule the best times for you to do this to get the fastest Runecrafting Experience possible. During your slow times, either do both the Nature running and Runecrafting yourself, gather Items, or work on other Skills and Quests.
- If the Runecraft cape sounds really good to you, you may want to do little things to encourage Nature running. If a "Rune running newbie" asks about how to do Nature running, please don't hesitate to answer any questions or offer friendly advice! The more people who know how to efficiently do Nature running, the more "customers" you'll have at the Nature altar.
- There's already a big demand for Runecrafters with Level 94+, but to increase that demand, I recommend to occasionally make some Nature tiaras. You'll lose some money, but gain Runecrafting Experience in the long run by providing a better and cheaper method for Nature rune Runners who aren't using the Abyss for Nature running. Nature talismans are more expensive than Nature tiaras, and they also use an extra slot in their Inventory. Either craft or buy Tiaras and buy Nature talismans at the Grand Exchange in lots of 14, then make Nature tiaras, and then sell these Nature tiaras at the lowest market price at the Grand Exchange. Yes, you'll some lose money, but you may have at least 14 more "customers" who will be asking for your Runecrafting assistance at the Nature altar. If you made 14 Nature tiaras each week, then you could have a possibility of 56 new "customers" each month.
- Selling Pure essence at the lowest market price either at the Grand Exchange or at the Bank at Edgeville on Nature running World 36 may also help improve "business", but you're taking a big gamble if the Nature rune Runners will ask you for assistance versus someone else's. Perhaps you could strike a deal with a few trusted Nature rune Runners to only ask for your assistance in exchange for selling them Pure essence at the lowest market price, or perhaps even lower if you're having a really difficult time finding enough people to assist at a constant rate.
- Another way to encourage Nature rune Runners to request your Runecrafting assistance is to bring 26 to 28 fully charged Amulets of glory with you, and offer to trade their uncharged Amulet of glorys for your charged Amulet of glorys. Once you have ran out of charged Amulet of glorys, Teleport to House in Taverley, recharge your uncharged Amulet of glorys at the Heroes' Guild, and then teleport back to Edgeville using your Guild Trophy, and then travel through the Abyss back to the Nature altar. This way, Nature rune Runners don't have to stop to recharge or buy their Amulet of glorys, and hopefully they'll remember the free service.
- There may be times when the Nature rune Runners may outnumber you one to ten! When this happens, you have to maintain strict order! Make everyone form a straight line, and if anyone breaks line, make them go to the back of the line or simply don't assist them! You're providing a service not many other Players can, but also remember that these Nature rune Runners also provide you with a very fast 30,000 Runecrafting Experience per day.
- If you want to earn more than 30,000 Runecrafting Experience per day, Runecraft at least 54 Nature runes yourself, and offer to trade Nature rune Runners your Nature runes for Pure essence, and then Runecraft the Pure essence back into Nature runes, and repeat. Always remember to double the amount of Nature runes you trade to Nature rune Runners to the Pure essence they trade to you. This will greatly depend upon anyone using any Pouch (Runecrafting) or not. This method is very similar to the "old days" before the Assist System existed.
