Bolts

Bolts are the ammunition used by crossbows. They are made using a combination of the Smithing and Fletching skills, the initial Bolts being made with the Smithing, and feathers being added with Fletching. Tips made from different gems can be added, and subsequently enchanted, adding possible effects when the bolt is shot Different types of bolts can be stored in a bolt pouch to conserve space. Bolts sometimes survive shots, so you can pick up your fired bolts.

[edit] Metal bolts

All metal bolts can be poisoned.

• Bronze bolts
• Blurite bolts
• Iron bolts
• Silver bolts
• Steel bolts
• Black bolts
• Mithril bolts
• Adamant bolts
• Runite bolts

Silver bolts can be poisoned however they are made using the Crafting skill unlike other metal bolts. They are also the only bolts that are effective against vampires and as such are the only way to poison vampires.

Gem-tipped bolts cannot be poisoned; however, they can be enchanted by casting one of the Enchant Crossbow Bolt spells. Adding gem tips also increases Ranged Strength of bolts slightly.

These bolts are created by casting one of the Enchant Crossbow Bolt spells on gem-tipped bolts.
