[edit] Quick chat

  • Recently, one of the problems with quick chat (above) was that muted players could not use quick chat to tell other players they were muted. The option "I can only use Quick Chat." was added, however it is available to all players, not only muted players.
  • On the first day of its release it was functional but once the user had chosen from the options it would just disconnect them from the server. This was true for only about 10 minutes, as a new system update was completed to make it work. It was reported that World 124 did not receive the update, but regardless, it no longer has this glitch.
  • Quick Chat allows the user to type without the first letter being capitalized, whereas in normal text it is impossible to have the first letter not capitalized. For example, if someone were to say "w00t", then it would appear as "W00t", whereas the Quick Chat feature lets the user use the former.
  • There were a number of unreleased, fairly unknown quest items or fake items listed if you clicked "trade/item" "trade". These included "9mm revolver," "Truffle," "Pretty girl," "Sphinx baby," "Mobile phone," "Firestarter," "No eggs," "Brass monkey," "Double helix," "Dwarf," "Enjifern," "Paintbrush," "Apricot cream pie," "Sine wave," "Three little kittens," "Seaweed in a box," "??? mixture," "Cape Fire," and "Spadeful of Coke." The joke items such as "9mm revolver" and "Pretty girl" were removed on 23 May. Some items such as "Apricot cream pie" still remain.  Many of these are possibly references to real world songs and other such things, such as brass monkey, possibly named after the song "brass monkey," a popular song by the Beastie Boys.
  • You can say that you want to buy a Cape of achievement, the Fire cape or other untradeable items. Although the items are not tradeable they are still in the engine. You can also say that you want to buy any Barrows equipment at 100, 75, 50, and 25, however they are only tradeable at unbroken or fully broken.
  • It was possible to refer to the glitch item 'null', but it was removed.
  • On the first day of its release, if someone searched clue scroll as an item, they received the message that there were too many results.
  • Player Moderator quick chat disappears when public chat is turned to "hide," "friends," or "off," without adding them to your ignore list.
  • The Quest As a First Resort... was spelt incorrectly in quick chat until 23 May. It was spelt "As a First Resourt".
  • You can't talk in worlds 86, 96, 160 and 161. You can only use Quick Chat.
  • When talking to a person on Funorb, the options seems limited. However, the enter shortcut still works, allowing you to send any phrase to a person playing Funorb.
  • One of the reasons quick chat was released was so muted players may talk without breaking rules. However saying phrases like "I like your item: long bone." may be used to break the rules, however these are not always used in a sexual manner, though it is very easy to tell when players are joking.
  • Even though they're considered player-slang, Jagex made players able to speak using emoticons,(:-D :-/ :-P) with Quick Chat.
  • When you are telling the surrounding players how much experience you need to get to the next level it only shows the difference between the level you're on and the next level. Example: If you are on level 57 and have 2,000 exp left to level 58 and tries to tell the surrounding players your needed experience it will show: I need 46826 experience to get to my next .... level.
  • The Quick Chat system is often used by players in PvP worlds, to discover another player's stats, because although players can say anything they want in the regular chat system, the Quick Chat tells the player's stats automatically. Most often it is used to determine the opponent's strength level.
  • When using the "I am smithing" prefix, and choosing blurite or "more...", there will be some fake items listed on there. (For example Blurite platebody)
  • When the quest Tale of the Muspah was released, players could refer to the quest Mysteries of the Mahjarrat, which does not exist.

[edit] Music

  • "Pinball Wizard" and "School's Out" are both titles of real songs by "The Who" and "Alice Cooper".
  • The song 'Distant Land' sounds a lot like parts of the 'Twin Peaks' songs.
  • Parts of the song 'Fire and Brimstone' sounds like part of 'Distant Land'.
  • 'Looking back' is almost identical to the original RuneScape theme.
  • 'Medieval' sounds very similar to 'Baroque'.
  • Parts of 'Magic Dance' are similar to 'Harmony'.
  • 'Dangerous road' resembles the boss theme of the Doom dragon from Golden Sun the Lost Age (only the near end part before the loop).
  • Parts of 'Bandos Battalion' are used in 'Goblin Village', 'Demise of the Dorgeshuun', and 'Dorgeshuun City'
  • All's Fairy in Love and War contains the same initial four chords as the Mortal Kombat Theme. Also, this song's name is based on the saying, "All's fair in love in war."
  • At the beginning of the song 'Norse Code', there is a section of flute music where the duration of each note depicts either a dot or dash in Morse Code that spells RUNESCAPE.[1]
  • The name of the song 'Where Eagles Lair' (unlocked during the Eagle's Peak Quest) is a pun of the film 'Where Eagle's Dare' [2].
  • The song "Little cave of horrors" is a pun on the song "little shop of horrors".
  • The song Intrepid is almost the same as the song Dark
