[edit] Brimhaven Agility Arena
When players dodge the darts in the darts obstacle, a cut scene appears in which the character dodges the darts in slow motion. This could be a reference to the Science Fiction Film The Matrix.
[edit] Rogue's Den
- Brian O'Richard is a play on the actor's name Richard O'Brien who used to host a popular UK TV program The Crystal Maze.
- On world 77 it seems to be the most popular cooking spot, including the most random events happening there.
[edit] Castle Wars
- Castle Wars has had many bugs regarding some aspects of the game remaining active once players had left the game. These include, but are not limited to:
- Players remaining as imps, sheep or bunnies after leaving the waiting area.
- Players still holding their team standard after a game.
- Players having an "attack" option on other players outside of Castle Wars, despite not being able to attack anyone.
- Players appearing as if still in the 'dead' position.
- Players remaining poisoned after leaving the game.
- Castle Wars games do not have random events. Players used to use Castle Wars as a random-free area in which to cast High Level Alchemy on large numbers of items without being attacked. Because of this, Jagex banned non-combat items from the game and made it impossible to cast alchemy spells on items in the battlefield. Jagex also made it impossible to bring any non-combat items into the waiting rooms. Now players may only bring potions, weapons, runes, and armour into Castle Wars.
- The bandage table was once located on the ground floor alongside the other tool tables. This was moved to the team's spawn room due to the fact that opposing players could effectively camp the enemy's castle with an unlimited health source.
- For a short time, male players that entered Castle Wars would appear to be missing their head. This was soon fixed.
- At an earlier time, it was possible to leave the game with equipment for the next game, this was soon changed. Players were also able to log out with materials and have them in the waiting room, this also is no longer possible.
- When you log out in the game, if you remained logged out for more than two minutes, you will appear in the waiting room once you log in. If you log out in the waiting room, no matter the time, you will be moved to the lobby.
- At one time the red and blue decorative armour was equivalent to Mithril. This degraded Mithril before the update, which made decorative armour equivalent to steel.
- Because of the player having to sacrifice the helmet and cape slot to wear their team colours, the set effects of the Barrows equipment is not active during games of Castle Wars.
- Previously, if you had HP level 99, drank a Saradomin Brew, and had the wall in the tunnels collapsed on you, you could be hit for more than 100 HP of damage. The most damage that can be done in one hit, excluding the Anger Weapons used in A Soul's Bane, which can hit up to 200, a full Dharok's set which can hit up to 110, with potions and the prayer piety, and the Keris which can hit up to 168 on Kalphite Bugs.
- A while back, team members would appear as green dots on the minimap. It was later changed to blue to avoid confusion with friends
[edit] Pest Control
- After the second Pest Control update, the music was accidentally changed from "Pest Control "to "Chef Surprize" (from Recipe for Disaster). It was later fixed.
[edit] Clan Wars
- There was a glitchy space both in the North-west and North-east and Southern areas of Clan Wars. It allowed you to "drop" into the floor. Mysteriously, players could attack while under the ground. In addition, if you dropped an item in one of the glitched spaces, you could not pick it back up again. This has been fixed as of January 29th, 2008.
- Some players may have an "attack" option on other players outside of Clan Wars, despite not being able to attack anyone. This is especially likely to occur in a crowded world or if the clan wars challenge arena is crowded
- There is a glitch in the text that says "Your clan has been defeated in battle", when your clan won the battle. The cause of this is unknown and has a very low rate of occurrence.
- Sometimes the numbers of players remaining will be incorrect.
[edit] Blast Furnace
- Since the Grand Exchange update, Ordan was first selling ore at the maximum market price, which was much more expensive than previously. After complaints from players over this, he is now selling them at the normal market price. Ever since this update, Ordan's ore prices are the same whatever the number of ores in stock, which is quite interesting.
- Every 15 seconds Ordan's shop is restocked by a dwarf that enters the room and gives a large number (around 30) of one random type of ore to Ordan. Once there is 100 ore of one kind in stock, the surplus is sent to another unknown storage area...
[edit] Vinesweeper
- Vinesweeper is very similar to the familiar casual game minesweeper. The pun is typical for RuneScape.
- The house in the farm is similar to that of the Hobbit holes in The Lord of the Rings.
- The main NPCs bear the names "Winkin" (the Mrs. and absent Mr.) and Farmer "Blinkin". This is a reference to a bedtime poem about three fishermen named Wynken, Blynken, and Nod who sail into the sky in a wooden shoe. The poem alludes to a sleeping child and, specifically, the world of dreams. "Now Winkin' and Blinkin' are two little eyes and Nod is a little one's head. And the wooden shoe that sailed the skies is a wee one's trundle bed." Full text at Home of Love - Nursery Rhymes.
- When you examine the portal is says: Gnome sweet Gnome?, a pun on Home! Sweet Home!? (examine of the house portals)
- The Tale of Peter Rabbit is a children's book about a rabbit sneaking into Mr. McGregor's garden and eating as many vegetables as he can before being chased around. He is also in another book The Tale of Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle (name similiar to Mrs. Winkin).
