[edit] Items

[edit] Safety gloves

If you look closely at the gloves, you'll notice that the design and look is about the same as the fighting boots.

The safety gloves design is obviously based much upon the gloves that are part of the three sets of fremennik armour, particularly the spined gloves. However, they have a different look that tends to match the fighting boots, as said above.

[edit] Broad arrows

  • When slayer was first released, Broad arrows were 6 coins each, and tradeable. Many players took advantage of this, so Jagex increased the price and made them untradeable.

[edit] Broad-tipped bolts

  • When these were released, they did not require a Slayer level to use. Many players took advantage of this, since they were cheaper than Mithril bolts, while at the same time were as powerful as Adamant bolts. This was fixed in a later update, and they now require 55 Slayer to use.

[edit] Spinning plate

  • They came out on April first, 2005.
  • Initially, the plate would break when it fell to the ground and would be "a broken plate"
  • The broken plates were removed the following day.
  • Spinning plates, having a picture of a dragon, are also called Dragon Plates, which is a deliberate pun referencing the previously non-existing Dragon Platebody. A similar pun was repeated with Dragon Kites in April 2008.

[edit] Iron sickle

Some months ago, an update made Gunnhild stop selling Iron Sickles. Players that would still (for random reasons) have this in their bank were able to trade them. This generated a new discontinued item at which many people began trying to buy them for cheap, while others that had them were trying to sell for over a million coins. Jagex later posted on the forums that players were able to buy them again, as they did not want another rare to be generated.

[edit] Lobster

  • Back in RSC, the colouration of the lobster was actually the wrong way around. Raw lobsters were a bright red colour when caught, and turned a deep brown when cooked. It wasn't until the implementation of the "RS2" upgrade that it was fixed.
  • Players have been known to sell a "rare black lobster" for outrageous prices in the past. This was just a worthless burnt lobster. The term "rare black lobster" is now used as a term making fun of new player's gullibility.
  • There is a scam in which players are tricked into trading their inventory for some lobsters.

[edit] Dragon Boots

During the early hours after the release of the boots, players found that they were not a very rare drop. Many higher level players were able to get several pairs per trip.

[edit] Team Capes

  • If you take all the first letters from the wilderness cape merchants' names it will spell the word "Wilderness".
  • On the first day the team capes were released, there was a grey team cape, this however was very similar to the legends cape, so was later replaced with the pink team capes.
  • Some Team cape traders were replaced (all of them now being in areas accessible to F2P users).
  • Team capes are one of the few items that used to be members only, but later became available to free players.

[edit] Rapier

  • The examine info for a Rapier, "The very butcher of a silk button", is a quote from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

[edit] Herring

  • When used on tree, it will say "This is not the mightiest tree in the forest". And when it is used on Grand Tree, it will say "It can't be done", both are Monty Python References.

[edit] Suqah Tooth

  • The examine text of the suqah tooth (The tooth, the whole tooth, and nothing but the tooth.) mimics a famous saying that goes The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
