Skippy has gone missing. Go and investigate what might have happened to him south-east of Rimmington.

Starting the case (only if access to Mogres has not been unlocked)[]

  • Warning
Starting this case will cause Skippy to go missing for up to a month. If you wish to access Mogres, needed for a few tasks and subquests, you will need to sober up Skippy before starting this case.

Investigating the Vial[]

  • Player: There's a vial of... Fishing explosive? Skippy spent his days chucking the stuff in the water. The vial is obviously intact. Skippy wasn't being threatened, or he'd have chucked the vial at his attacker.

Investigating the Boot[]

  • Player: There's a single shoe here. It looks like Skippy's. There are also three faint sets of footsteps next to it in the damp ground. They seem to head towards the water. One has shoes on, and heads away from the water. One, same
  • Player: shoes, heads towards the water. The third one shows bare feet heading towards the water. These seem to match in size the boot I found.

Investigating the Coin[]

  • Player: There's a single gold coin in the grass. It's not a normal coin.
    • If you have not yet started Player-owned Ports
      • Player: It features an unusual star-shaped design.
        • (Continues below)
    • If you have started Player-owned Ports
      • Player: It's a 'chime', the Wushanko currency.
        • (Continues below)
  • Player: It looks like it's been dropped there. There's no sign of scuffle, though. I don't know how Skippy would have gotten his hands on one of these, unless there was someone else at the scene.

After finding all the clues[]

  • If you have not yet started Player-owned Ports
    • Player: So, it looks like someone wearing shoes came from the water, possibly someone with access to a strange currency.
      • (Continues below)
  • If you have started Player-owned Ports
    • Player: So, it looks like someone wearing shoes came from the water, possibly someone with a connection to the Eastern lands.
      • (Continues below)
  • Player: They convinced Skippy to go with them, and left by water. Possibly by boat? I guess that's it.
Congratulations! Case complete!

Progress notes[]

  • Skippy has gone missing, check south-east of Rimmington for any unusual activity.
  • I've found one item relating to Skippy, perhaps there are more around.
  • I've found another clue relating to the whereabouts of Skippy, another clue should wrap this up.
  • I seem to have found all of the clues in the area. All the clues point to Skippy being led away, willingly, by boat.

The Eastern Mystery - Part 2[]

Ned's best rope has gone missing. Go and talk to Ned in Draynor Village to investigate.

Talking to Ned[]

First time[]

  • Talk about Meg's cases
    • Player: I've been informed your best rope has gone missing and you would like the matter investigated.
    • Ned: Ah, yes, Meg must have sent you! Here's the problem. I make and sell rope for a living. Now for your average adventurer, the wool rope I offer is enough.
    • Ned: However I also stock some stronger ship-grade rope that I store upstairs. My usual customers for this type of goods is sailors.
    • Ned: I last used some a couple of days ago, and it was fine. However this morning when I went to get some more, it had vanished!
    • Ned: I'm suspecting one of these suspicious individuals that keep loitering around.
  • About the Task System...
    • (Non-case dialogue)
  • Talk about something else.
    • (Non-case dialogue)

Before talking to any suspicious individuals[]

  • Talk about Meg's cases
    • Ned: How is it going, [lad/lass]?
    • Player: The investigation is progressing. I'll come back with my conclusions once I have found enough clues.
  • About the Task System...
    • (Non-case dialogue)
  • Talk about something else.
    • (Non-case dialogue)

Talking to the Suspicious outsider[]

    • Player: Hello. I'm here to investigate the disappearance of some of Ned's rope. Can I ask you a few questions?
    • Suspicious outsider: Err, I guess? It wasn't me!
    • Player: Some rope has vanished from Ned's upstairs within the last few days. Has there be[sic] any suspicious happenings to report?
    • Suspicious outsider: I did hear some unusual splashing and creaking a couple of times last night. A bit like someone rowing a boat. I thought no more of it until a bit later when I heard a branch cracking and some rustling coming from above.
    • Player: Oh?
    • Suspicious outsider: I think I saw some movement up the roof from the corner of my eye, but I might have imagined that. I was worried it might have been a vampyre... Someone in the house might have heard more.

Talking to Ned before talking to any Ned's wife[]

  • Talk about Meg's cases
    • Ned: How is it going, [lad/lass]?
    • Player: The investigation is progressing. I'll come back with my conclusions once I have found enough clues.
  • About the Task System...
    • (Non-case dialogue)
  • Talk about something else.
    • (Non-case dialogue)

Talking to Ned's wife[]

    • Player: Hello! Ned was just telling me how some of his best rope went missing.
    • Ned's wife Nothing looked out of place this morning, but the crate containing the rope that we store over there was empty!
    • Ned's wife I'm here all the time and I didn't see anything. It's a mystery to me! It must have happened at night while I was sleeping.
    • Player: I have some additional reports of some strange noises being heard last night in the vicinity of your house.
    • Ned's wife Sorry, I didn't see or hear anything. They would have had some gall to sneak in while I was sleeping in there, though! Terrifying if you think about it.
    • Ned's wife Instead, I had a lovely dream about sitting in a field, with a slight breeze rustling the wheat and trees around me.
    • Ned's wife Thinking about it, I had left the window on the landing a jar. But we're on the first floor! Unless they can fly, they wouldn't have been able to get in!

Talking to Ned before investigating the tree[]

  • Talk about Meg's cases
    • Ned: How is it going, [lad/lass]?
    • Player: The investigation is progressing. I'll come back with my conclusions once I have found enough clues.
  • About the Task System...
    • (Non-case dialogue)
  • Talk about something else.
    • (Non-case dialogue)

Investigating the tree[]

    • Player: This tree leads straight to the roof of the house. Someone nimble might have climbed it. There are a few broken twigs on the ground, as well as some straw. This looks like the kind of straw they use for building rooves[sic].
    • Player: Oh, what's this?
    • You find some dark fibres stuck in the bark of the tree.
    • Player: Aha. I should report to Ned.

Reporting back to Ned[]

  • Talk about Meg's cases
    • Player: I've done my investigation and I think I know what happened. The culprit came by boat. Maybe it's the same boat that lead to Skippy vanishing. They sneaked up to the tree, climbed it, moved onto the roof, crept though[sic]
    • Player: the opened window, stole the rope, and went back the way they came while your wife was asleep upstairs.
    • Player: I've got a few fibres from their clothing, too. I will find them and bring them to justice.
    • Ned: Thank you, [lad/lass]!
  • About the Task System...
    • (Non-case dialogue)
  • Talk about something else.
    • (Non-case dialogue)
Congratulations! Case complete!

Progress notes[]

  • Talk to Ned in Draynor village to find out what the matter is.
  • Talk to one of the suspicious individuals around Ned's house to see if they know of anything.
  • Talk to Ned's wife, upstairs in Ned's house.
  • Investigate the outside of the house leading up to the landing window.
  • I found some fibres in the tree outside of Ned's house. I should return to Ned.
  • Some unknown entity arrived by rowing boat, climbed the tree and sneaked in Ned's house while his wife was upstairs to steal his best rope. The identity of the culprit is unknown, but may be related to Skippy's disappearance.

The Eastern Mystery - Part 3[]

Luthas's banana plantation has been targeted by thieves. Go and talk to Luthas on Karamja to investigate.

Talking to Luthas[]

First time[]

  • Before accepting job from Luthas:
    • Luthas: Hello I'm Luthas, I run the banana plantation here.
      • Talk about Meg's cases
        • Player: I've been sent to investigate the theft of some bananas?
        • Luthas: Ah, jolly good! I woke up this morning to find that almost half of my banana trees had been harvested, but there was no bananas in my crates.
        • Luthas: That's a lot of goods vanishing in one go! That many bananas would feed a lot of people!
        • Player: I'll go in the plantation and have a look. We will catch the thieves.
      • Could you offer me employment on your plantation?
        • (Non-case dialogue)
      • That customs officer is annoying isn't she?
        • (Non-case dialogue)
  • After accepting job from Luthas:
    • Luthas: Have you completed your task yet?
      • Talk about Meg's cases
        • (Same as above)
      • What did I have to do again?
        • (Non-case dialogue)
      • No, the crate isn't full yet.
        • (Non-case dialogue)
      • So where are these bananas going to be delivered to?
        • (Non-case dialogue)
      • That customs officer is annoying isn't she?
        • (Non-case dialogue)
  • After finishign Luthas' job
    • Player: I've filled a crate with bananas.
    • Luthas: Well done, here's your payment.
    • Luthas hands you 30 coins.
      • Talk about Meg's cases
        • (Same as above)
      • Will you pay me for another crate full?
        • (Non-case dialogue)
      • Thank you, I'll be on my way
        • (Non-case dialogue)
      • So where are these bananas going to be delivered to?
        • (Non-case dialogue)
      • That customs officer is annoying isn't she?
        • (Non-case dialogue)

Before searching the jetty[]

  • Luthas: Hello I'm Luthas, I run the banana plantation here.
    • Talk about Meg's cases
      • Luthas: How goes the search?
      • Player: I've yet to find any significant clue. I will return to the plantation now.
    • Could you offer me employment on your plantation?
      • (Non-case dialogue)
    • That customs officer is annoying isn't she?
      • (Non-case dialogue)

Searching a Banana Tree[]

  • Player: It seems the harvested banana trees are the ones closest to the shore. I wonder if there's any clues to be found there.

Investigating the Jetty[]

  • Player: So, all the harvested banana trees are the ones closest to the shore. The jungle plants leading to this jetty seem somewhat trampled. It seems the culprit took the cargo by boat.
  • Player: Oh, there is a nail sticking out of this rail.
  • You find some dark fibres stuck on the nail.
  • Player: These again? Someone's on a spree! I should report to Luthas.

Talking to Luthas after searching the jetty[]

  • Luthas: Hello I'm Luthas, I run the banana plantation here.
    • Talk about Meg's cases
      • Player: I think I've identified the culprit!
      • Luthas: Oh? Tell me more.
      • Player: Someone, travelling by rowing boat, has been responsible for the theft of Ned's best rope, and possibly Skippy's disappearance.
      • Player: His forfeits always happen at night. I found these fibres wedged in the tree outside of Ned's house, and these, come from the rail on the jetty.
      • Luthas: They're the same! I wonder if this has anything to do with the impressive looking ship that went past a few days ago. You might be able to see it on a clear day, moored off Crandor.
      • Player: A ship you say? This may be a clue. Thank you!
      • Luthas: No, thank you!
    • Could you offer me employment on your plantation?
      • (Non-case dialogue)
    • That customs officer is annoying isn't she?
      • (Non-case dialogue)
Congratulations! Case complete!

Progress notes[]

  • Talk to Luthas at the Karamja banana plantation.
  • Luthas reported that almost half of his banana trees have been picked overnight, and the bananas are nowhere to be found. I should check the plantation.
  • The only trees without bananas are those closest to the jetty. I found some fibres in the jetty's fence. I should report to Luthas.
  • Fibres were found on the jetty, which could imply the use of a boat. They match the ones I found during Ned's case. It is quite likely the culprit is the same person that stole Ned's rope.

The Eastern Mystery - Part 4[]

Rommik's reported some of his fabric missing. Go and talk to him in his shop in Rimmington to investigate.

Talking to Rommik[]

First time[]

  • Rommik: Would you like to buy some Crafting equipment?
    • Talk about Meg's cases
      • Player: Hello! I've been told some of your fabric has been stolen and I've come to investigate.
      • Rommik: Oh good! Let me tell you about what happened. I was sleeping in the mezzanine upstairs...
      • Player: This place has a mezzanine? Oh yes, so it does! Clever design!
      • Rommik: Yes, it's a bit hidden and my stairs are made out of crates, but anyway. I hear this almighty bang, just outside the door!
      • Rommik: I jumped out of my bed, raced down and out the door. Right outside, in the middle of the square, I found Skippy, drunk as. He was really sozzled, I can tell that he was on something steeper than his usual tipple.
      • Player: That's interesting! Skippy went missing a few days ago...
      • Rommik: Well, he was right there. He said he was trying to get some mudskupz and missed the mark. I asked him if he was OK, offered him to come inside for the night, but he looked wildly around, shouted as if he'd seen another
      • Rommik: monster, and ran off behind Hetty's.
      • Rommik: I went back to bed and thought no more of it. But that following morning, I noticed my sail-grade fabric had gone missing from the wall!
      • Player: Distraction technique. Interesting. I'll look around and investigate.
    • Let's see what you've got, then.
      • (Non-case dialogue)
    • No thanks, I've got all the crafting equipment I need.
      • (Non-case dialogue)

Before finding all clues[]

  • Rommik: Would you like to buy some Crafting equipment?
    • Talk about Meg's cases
      • Rommik: How goes it?
      • Player: The investigation is progressing. I'll come back with my conclusions once I have found enough clues.
    • Let's see what you've got, then.
      • (Non-case dialogue)
    • No thanks, I've got all the crafting equipment I need.
      • (Non-case dialogue)

Investigating the Window[]

  • Player: Ooh. It looks like whoever commited the burglary came through this window. The grass is quite trampled around here. From the tracks, it looks like they might have come from the beach.
  • Player: They must have been quite sprightly to squeeze through there.
    • If you have yet to find all clues:
      • Player: Let's look around for more clues.
    • If you have found all clues:
      • Player: I think that was the last of the clues. I should return to Rommik.

Investigating the Fabric rack[]

  • Player: This is where the fabric used to be. It's right next to that window. Oh, what's that on one of the nails?
  • You find some dark fibres stuck on the nail.
  • Player: They'll have clothes full of holes if they keep on getting them caught on everything like that!
    • If you have yet to find all clues:
      • Player: Let's look around for more clues.
    • If you have found all clues:
      • Player: I think that was the last of the clues. I should return to Rommik.

Investigating the Seaweed[]

  • Player: Let's see then. There are two pairs of faint human footprints here, going there and back. One was made by boots and the other by bare feet.
  • Player: There's a mark in the sand where a small boat might have beached. There are a couple of lumps of seaweed here that aren't completely dry.
  • Player: It looks like they might have been used to cover existing footprints, or to act as carpet to stop footprint appearing.
    • If you have yet to find all clues:
      • Player: Let's look around for more clues.
    • If you have found all clues:
      • Player: I think that was the last of the clues. I should return to Rommik.

Talking to Rommik[]

After finding all clues[]

  • Rommik: Would you like to buy some Crafting equipment?
    • Talk about Meg's cases
      • Player: This case has a lot of similarities with cases I investigated earlier. A mystery thief comes by boat in the dead of night and steal things, usually sneakily, but sometimes, apparently, with Skippy's help.
      • Player: In this case, you were lured outside by Skippy while his acolyte went through the window and stole the fabric. Skippy's disparition was the first case of the lot, so his involvement here is interesting.
      • Player: I've found these fibres on the nails on the wall, and they match those I found during previous cases. The items stolen so far include food and nautical supplies.
      • Player: Sadly, I can't do more right now, but don't worry. I will find them and bring them to justice.
      • Rommik: Nautical supplies? I wonder if that ship that moored off Crandor has something to do with it. Anyhow, looks like you've got the case well in hand!
    • Let's see what you've got, then.
      • (Non-case dialogue)
    • No thanks, I've got all the crafting equipment I need.
      • (Non-case dialogue)
Congratulations! Case complete!

Progress notes[]

  • Talk to Rommik in his shop to the south-west of Rimmington
  • Rommik explained that he heard a noise in the night, when he went out he saw Skippy and his explosives, but when he went back in his fabric had vanished. I should look around for some clues.
  • I have found one clue. There might be more if I look around inside and outside Rommik's shop.
  • I have found another clue. There might be more if I look around inside and outside Rommik's shop.
  • I have found one last clue. I should return to Rommik with my conclusions.
  • I found some familiar black fibres on the peg inside the shop, the grass trampled outside and some suspiciously placed seaweed trying to cover footsteps to where a rowing boat might have beached. Skippy was involved, most likely as an accomplice.

The Eastern Mystery - Part 5[]

Thurgo's steel nails have been stolen. Go and talk to Thurgo south of Port Sarim to investigate.

Talking to Thurgo[]

First time[]

  • Talk about Meg's cases
    • Player: Hello! I've been told your steel nails have gone missing and I've come to investigate.
    • Thurgo: Ah, yes. I have a bag of these I keep under my bed for odd jobs and repairs. I never go away, so whoever stole them must have been very skilled!
    • Player: Would there be no chance of anybody getting to them?
    • Thurgo: Not while I'm awake, no, and I only really sleep in my bed.
    • Thurgo: Ok, yesterday this adventurer brought me a redberry pie, and I did have a nap in my hammock afterwards, but I would be surprised if they'd gotten in my hut without waking me up.
    • Player: I'll investigate. This kind of happenings doesn't surprise me anymore.
  • Talk about something else
    • (Non-case dialogue)

Before finding all clues[]

  • Talk about Meg's cases
    • Thurgo: Any progress?
    • Player: Working on it! I'll come back with my conclusions once I have found enough clues.
  • Talk about something else
    • (Non-case dialogue)

Investigating the Window[]

  • Player: This looks like the window they came through when coming for the nails. I wonder if...
  • You find some dark fibres stuck on a splinter in the window frame.
  • Player: Yes, here they are. Same culprit again. This has got to stop.
    • If you have yet to find all clues:
      • Player: Let's look around for more clues.
    • If you have found all clues:
      • Player: I think that was the last of the clues. I should return to Thurgo.

Investigating the Footprints or Seaweed[]

  • Player: Well well! One pair of faint human footprints here, going there and back, wearing boots. The same boots as for Rommik's case.
  • Player: There's a mark in the sand where a small boat might have beached. Here's some seaweed again that was dragged on the beach to hide the footprints.
  • Player: The footprints lead from the sea to the back window of the hut.
    • If you have yet to find all clues:
      • Player: Let's look around for more clues.
    • If you have found all clues:
      • Player: I think that was the last of the clues. I should return to Thurgo.

Talking to Thurgo[]

After finding all clues[]

  • Talk about Meg's cases
    • Player: I've completed my investigation for now. I found some faint footsteps in the sand, partially hidden by seaweed, leading from the sea to your back window. Stuck in the wood there, I found these fibres.
    • Thurgo: Incredible! While I was there?
    • Player: Yes. This is by no means an isolated incident, though. There has been a spate of thefts, and every time the culprit, wearing something made of these fibres, comes in by boat, then sneaks to perform the theft.
    • Player: From a few of the cases, we suspect he made an accomplice of Skippy, who is possibly providing him with some local intel. One of the clues seem to indicate that the culprit is not from here.
    • Thurgo: By boat? I've seen a little rowing boat going around at night a few times recently, with one or two people in it. I wonder if it's related to that ship I saw heading north the other day.
    • Player: Oh! Rommik mentioned that ship as well, but not the rowing boat! If the ship is at sea, I'll have to catch them in the act.
    • Thurgo: I'm sure you'll get them. I tell you what, I'll keep an eye out, and I'll tell Meg if the ship makes a move. Thank you!
  • Talk about something else
    • (Non-case dialogue)
Congratulations! Case complete!

Progress notes[]

  • Talk to Thurgo by his hut north of Mudskipper point.
  • Thurgo said he keeps his nails under his bed but he did have a nap in his hammock yesterday. I should investigate the hut's surroundings for clues.
  • I have found a clue around the house. I should look for another.
  • I have found all the clues. I should return to Thurgo with my conclusions.
  • I found some familiar black fibres on the frame of the window at the back of the hut, and booted footprints as well as suspiciously placed seaweed trying to cover them, leading to the sea. Thurgo said he saw a rowing boat going to and from a large ship off the coast. It's a clue.

The Eastern Mystery - Part 6[]

Some sheep have gone missing near the Makeover Mage. Go and talk to the Makeover Mage, south-west of Falador, to investigate.

Talking to the Makeover Mage[]

First time[]

  • Talk about Meg's cases
    • Player: Hello! I've been sent to investigate the disparition of some sheep?
    • Makeover Mage: Indeed! I keep some friendly sheep outside the door, I find the baa-ing relaxing. Also, the wool comes in handy for wardrobe changes.
    • Makeover Mage: However this morning, a lot of the flock has vanished and the rest is very sleepy.
    • Makeover Mage: I didn't hear anything of what happened, but maybe Iconis, who lives in the tent opposite, might have heard more?
    • Player: Don't worry, I'll investigate.
  • Talk about something else
    • (Non-case dialogue)

Before finding all clues[]

  • Talk about Meg's cases
    • Makeover Mage: Any news?
    • Player: I'm still workin[sic] gon[sic] the investigation! I'll come back with my conclusions once I have found enough clues.
  • Talk about something else
    • (Non-case dialogue)

Investigating the Highwayman mask/ the Hankerchief before talking to Iconis[]

  • Player: I probably shouldn't be poking at that yet.

Talking to Iconis[]

  • Talk about Meg's cases
    • Player: Hello there, I'm investigating the disappearance of some sheep and would like to know if you've seen or heard anything.
    • Iconis: Ah, I have actually. I was struggling to sleep in the tent last night, because Mr Imp in there was snoring. First I heard a bit of unusual splashing and creaking.
    • Iconis: Then a bit later I heard someone shout 'Stand and deliver!', before I heard a whack and a thump. I really felt sorry for the victim of the highwayman. Then there was a bit of huffing and puffing but I finally felt sleepy and
    • Iconis: dozed off.
    • Player: Thank you very much for your testimony.
  • Talk about something else.
    • (Non-case dialogue)

Investigating the Highwayman mask[]

  • Player: Is that... A highwayman mask? Does this mean the highwayman didn't in fact incapacitate the thief, but it was the other way around?
  • Player: Interesting.
    • If you have yet to find all clues:
      • Player: Let's look around for more clues.
    • If you have found all clues:
      • Player: I think that was the last of the clues. I should return to the Make-over Mage.

Investigating the Hankerchief[]

  • Player: There's a hankerchief here close to the sheep. A pungent sweet smell emanates from it.
  • Player: My head's aching and I'm feeling sleepy...
    • If you have yet to find all clues:
      • Player: Let's look around for more clues.
    • If you have found all clues:
      • Player: I think that was the last of the clues. I should return to the Make-over Mage.

Investigating the Tracks[]

  • Player: There are some tracks here. It looks like someone, probably unconscious, was dragged away towards the shore. Over there, I can see a dent where a boat would have been pulled ashore.
    • If you have yet to find all clues:
      • Player: Let's look around for more clues.
    • If you have found all clues:
      • Player: I think that was the last of the clues. I should return to the Make-over Mage.

Talking to the Makeover Mage[]

After finding all clues[]

  • Talk about Meg's cases
    • Player: It turns out the sheep isn't the only disappearance! The highwayman that usually lurks around the area has also been kidnapped.
    • Makeover Mage: Kidnapped?
    • Player: Yes. Iconis heard him try to rob someone, then someone being knocked over, but I found a mask and a set of tracks that indicate he was the victim.
    • Player: He was dragged to the shore where he was taken away by boat. The sheep, on the other hand, were put to sleep with this hankerchief soaked in some sort of sleeping potion.
    • Makeover Mage: But, who would do such a thing?
    • Player: I've got one main suspect who dwells on the ship moored off the coast. They have performed a spate of theft, usually for nautical supplies or food. The highwayman is an exception.
    • Player: My only way to catch the culprit is to catch them in the act, so I have to try and anticipate their next move.
    • Makeover Mage: Good luck with that. I hope you can save the sheep!
  • Talk about something else.
    • (Non-case dialogue)
Congratulations! Case complete!

Progress notes[]

  • Talk to the Makeover Mage, south-west of Falador, to investigate.
  • The Makeover Mage told me his/her sheep has gone missing in the night, but he/she didn't hear anything. I should talk to Iconis to see if he heard something.
  • Iconis told me he heard splashing and creaking, then the highwayman attacking someone, then a whack and a thud. He felt sorry for the highwayman's victim. I should look for clues around the scene.
  • I found a clue. I should look for some more.
  • I found a second clue. There is probably more to find before I can draw conclusions.
  • I found all three clues! I should return to the Makeover Mage to explain what happened.
  • The robber came by rowing boat with intention of taking sheep by drugging them when they were interrupted by a highwayman, which they knocked out and dragged to the boat. They then drugged the sheep and took it away by boat, most likely to the ship moored off the coast.

The Eastern Mystery - Part 7[]

Anja and Hengel have gone missing from their house in Rimmington. Go and investigate the biggest house in the north-east corner of Rimmington.

Investigating the Big Bed[]

  • If you have not yet started Player-owned Ports:
    • Player: Nice bed... Oh! There's a single gold coin under there! It's not a normal coin. It features the same unusual star-shaped design as the coin I found at the site of Skippy’s disappearance.
      • (Continues below)
  • If you have started Player-owned Ports:
    • Nice bed... Oh! There's a single gold coin under there! It's not a normal coin. It's a 'chime', the Wushanko currency, just like the one I found at the site of Skippy's disappearance.
      • (Continues below)
  • Player: It looks like it's been dropped there. There's no sign of scuffle, though. Were they... Bribed into leaving willingly?

Searching a Bookcase[]

  • Player: From the dust on the bookcase, it looks like a couple of books have been taken. The other drawers are empty, like they took their personal effects with them.
    • If you have not yet started Player-owned Ports:
      • Player: So, it looks like they left the place willingly, taking some possessions with them but no weapons, possibly bribed by someone with access to a strange currency.
        • (Continues below)
    • If you have started Player-owned Ports:
      • Player: So, it looks like they left the place willingly, taking some possessions with them but no weapons, possibly bribed by someone with a connection to the Eastern lands.
        • (Continues below)
  • Player: I have no doubt this is the result of the same person responsible for Skippy's disappearance. The missing clothes and possessions and the coin seem to indicate he also got Anja and Hengel to join him by recruiting them.
Congratulations! Case complete!

Progress notes[]

  • I need to investigate the upstairs of the biggest house in the north-east corner of Rimmington.
  • I've found a clue. I should look for some more.
  • I've found all the clues. They seem to indicate Anja and Hengel have been recruited by our serial robber and stealth master extraordinaire.

The Eastern Mystery - Part 8[]

A Trader Crewmember has gone missing in Karamja. Go and talk to the other Trader Crewmember on the north-east pier of Karamja.

Talking to the Trader Crewmember[]

First time[]

  • Talk about Meg's cases
    • Player: Hello! I'm here to investigate the disappearance of a Trader Crewmember?
    • Trader Crewmember: Ye-yes... Stephanie... She's gone. You've got to help me find her!
    • Player: Could you tell me about what happened?
    • Trader Crewmember: It was our night off. I invited her for a drink or three at Zambo's. He's got a good range of spirits!
    • Trader Crewmember: We had a fine evening, and then she said she was heading back. I said I'd finish my glass and join her, but I kind of fell asleep. When Zambo woke me up, she'd gone, but she wasn't at the ship.
    • Trader Crewmember: The man that sometimes hangs around there had gone also. I hope he didn't prey on a poor defenceless lady! Maybe the customs official saw something?
  • Talk about something else
    • (Non-case dialogue)

Before talking to the Customs Officer[]

  • Talk about Meg's cases
    • Trader Crewmember: Any signs of Stephanie?
    • Player: Not yet. I'll get back as soon as I know something.
  • Talk about something else
    • (Non-case dialogue)

Talking to the Customs Officer[]

  • Customs Officer: Can I help you?
    • Talk about Meg's cases
      • Player: Hello! I'm here to investigate the disappearance of a female Trader Crewmember called Stephanie. Apparently she vanished the other night.
      • Customs Officer: Oh yes, I did see her the other night.
      • Player: Can you please tell me what you saw in details?
      • Customs Officer: Early in the evening, she and her colleague went down to Zambo's for a drink. They stayed there a while.
      • Customs Officer: While they were away, a little rowing boat came and ran aground just to the north. A man came out of it and started chatting with Alban.
      • Player: Alban?
      • Customs Officer: Yes, he's a local who usually hangs around here. They talked for a while when the crewmember came back alone. She was a bit unsteady on her feet, tripped and fell. She seemed a bit hurt.
      • Customs Officer: Both men rushed to get her, then they chatted some more and boarded the little boat with her. Then they rowed off and never came back.
      • Customs Officer: I wasn't too worried about them at first, but it's been a little while and they still haven't come back. I hope they're all ok.
      • Player: Could you describe the man in the boat to me?
      • Customs Officer: Well it was dark and he was wearing dark clothes, so I didn't see much. He seemed light-skinned, with a beard, darkish hair, but there was not much else about him.
      • Player: Did he look foreign?
      • Customs Officer: Not really. He looked like the sort of guys you might find in a Port Sarim bar. His clothes were not in a style I recognise, but that doesn't mean much. Like I say, I wasn't suspicious.
      • Player: Thank you very much, that was very helpful. I should return to the Crewmember.
    • Can I journey on this ship?
      • (Non-case dialogue)
    • Does Karamja have unusual customs then?
      • (Non-case dialogue)

Talking to the Trader Crewmember[]

After talking to the Customs Officer[]

  • Talk about Meg's cases
    • Player: My investigation indicates that your colleague may have been abducted.
    • Trader Crewmember: Noooo! I never got the guts to tell her I fancied her! Was it that man?
    • Player: I don't believe so, no. I believe the suspect to be someone responsible for a spate of thefts and disparitions.
    • Player: They always turn at the scene by rowing boat and leave the same way. Now the clues indicates that most people boarded his boat willingly.
    • Player: The customs officer reported seeing that small rowing boat coming ashore and the man in it discussing with the local. When Stephanie came by, she fell and hurt herself, and the boat man invited Stephanie on board. The local
    • Player: went to see if she was ok, and ended up accompanying her on board.
    • Player: I believe that the culprit lives on a ship moored off the coast of Rimmington, and that's probably where Stephanie is now.
      • If you have not yet started Player-owned Ports:
        • Player: Clues from previous similar cases indicates that this man comes from a place using this currency and might be recruiting people to join him, maybe as a crew.
        • Trader Crewmember: That’s a Chime! The currency of the Eastern lands! We’ve got to stop him before he takes her there!
          • (Continues below)
      • If you have started Player-owned Ports:
        • Player: Clues from previous similar cases indicates that this man comes from the Eastern Lands and might be recruiting people to join him, maybe as a crew.
        • Trader Crewmember: The Eastern lands? We've got to stop him before he takes her there!
          • (Continues below)
    • Player: I cannot reach the ship at present, it is armoured, but if he starts boarding people, he's probably going to set sail soon. My goal is to get him when that happens.
    • Trader Crewmember: Best of luck! Please save Stephanie!
  • Talk about something else
    • (Non-case dialogue)
Congratulations! Case complete!

Progress notes[]

  • Talk to the Trader Crewmember on the north-east Karamja pier.
  • The crewmember told me how a night out ended up in his colleague vanishing. I should ask the customs officer if she's seen anything.
  • The customs officer described the crewmember and a local man both leaving willingly, by boat, with an individual dressed in dark clothes. I should return to the Crewmember.
  • Our mystery rower has convinced two more people to join him. He doesn't look foreign but does dress in dark clothes in an unfamiliar fashion. He will probably sail off soon.

The Eastern Mystery - Part 9[]

Thurgo sends word that a suspicious looking ship is moving from its mooring near Crandor towards Karamja. Go and investigate the ship to the north-east of Karamja.

Talking to The Iron Link[]

  • Player: Hey, you! Stop! I have a few questions to ask you!
  • The Iron Link: Well met, friend! I'm Jed. How can I help you today?
  • Player: I'm investigating a spate of thefts and disparitions, and all the clues point to you being the culprit!
  • The Iron Link: Oh I see. This seems a bit premature, don't you think? We hardly know each other!
  • The Iron Link: Let me tell you what. Are you on your own? Would you like to join me on the ship for a chat?
  • Player: No, thank you. I don't know what your deal is, but I do not trust you.
  • The Iron Link: As you wish. So what am I accused of stealing, then?
  • Player: The list is long. Nautical supplies, food, sheep, and even people!
  • The Iron Link: Listen, this is a big misuderstanding[sic]. I did invite a few people to join me for a life-changing trip across the seas to my homeland. But thieving? No. You have no proof.
  • Sheep: Baa!
  • Player: Ahem... We'll see about that. How about this. If all these people came willingly, why don't you let them come up and tell me themselves?
  • The Iron Link: We've worked all night to get ready to set sail, these pour souls are having a sleep. I was just popping here to see if anybody else was interested in joining us for a trip of a lifetime to the famed Eastern lands!
  • The Iron Link: It seems obvious to me that nobody else feels like jumping at the chance, so I'll just get going! It was a pleasure meeting you!
  • Player: Wait!
  • Trader Crewmember: HEY! HELP! PLEASE HELP US!
  • Anja: HELP!
  • The Iron Link: Shut it you!
  • The Iron Link: I guess the cat's out of the bag. Heh, oh well. I really must be going now!
  • Zambo: Oh no you don't, scum!
  • Zambo throws a lit torch at the ship, and parts of the ship catch fire.
  • The Iron Link: Gee, that escalated quickly. Fine, you win this time. But don't think this is the end! I, the Iron Link, will have my revenge.
  • The Iron Link dives into the water off the opposite side of the ship; screen fades out and in
  • You and Zambo climb aboard and rescue the victims just in time. The boat sinks.
  • Player: Wow, I've never seen a boat sink that quickly! I guess the large amount of metal on the hull didn't help. I should check everybody's ok.

Talking to Zambo[]

  • Player: Thank you! That was admirable timing! And what a good shot! You got the sails on the first attempt!
  • Zambo: I was trying to throw it at his face...
  • Player: Oh!
  • Zambo: I hate losers like this guy harassing my customers. I don't have too many these days, the last thing I need is someone taking the ones I still have.
  • Player: Well anyway. Thank you for your help!
  • Zambo: I better go back to my shop. These poor souls might want a pick me up after all this!
  • Screen fades out and in. Zambo is back in his tavern.

Talking to Anja/Hengel[]

First time[]

  • Anja/Hengel: Oh, thank you for saving us!
  • Player: What happened to you?
  • Anja: He came to visit one night, saying he had the opportunity of a lifetime trip to the Eastern Lands.
  • Hengel: We'd grown quite weary of our life in Rimmington. He showed us gold, lots of gold. It sounded tempting.
  • Anja: He even told us we weren't the only ones coming. It'd be fun. The Eastern Lands did sound amazing.
  • Hengel: We'd never really had a holiday, so we thought, what the heck, let's do it!
  • Anja: But once on the boat, he quickly overpowered us and locked us in.
  • Hengel: I think his intention was to sell us as slaves in his homeland! But by then it was too late, we were prisoners!
  • Anja: I don't want to know what would have happened if you hadn't saved us!

Afterward[]

  • Player: I've already talked to them.
    • Chat again?
      • Yes
        • (Same as above)
      • No

Talking to the Highwayman[]

First time[]

  • Highwayman: Stand and deliver!
  • Player: Really? I save your life and you're trying to mug me?
  • Highwayman: It was a dark time, but I've got to move on and put it behind me. I need the confidence, you see.
  • Player: At least don't go mugging these people, they're traumatised enough. Do we have a deal?
  • Highwayman: Ok, deal.

Afterward[]

  • Player: I've already talked to him.
    • Chat again?
      • Yes
        • (Same as above)
      • No

Talking to the Man/Trader Crewmember[]

First time[]

  • (If you initiate the conversion by speaking to the Trader)
    • Trader Crewmember: Thank you for getting us out of there!
    • (Continues below)
  • (If you initiate the conversation by talking to the Man)
    • Man: Thank you, friend. That was quite the pickle you got us out of.
    • (Continues below)
  • Player: What happened to you?
  • Man: I was having a rest the other night when this guy in a rowing boat came to chat.
  • Man: He said he was from the Eastern lands, and he was looking for people interested in making a new life there.
  • Man: He explained he went there and became rich, and could offer me a job on his ship. I wasn't really interested.
  • Man: But then this lady comes down the path, trips on a rock and falls. Her hand is bleeding and she doesn't look in a good state.
  • Man: The guy tells her he's got a doctor on board his ship who'll take care of her. I didn't trust him to be true to his word, so I went along with them.
  • Man: He was cracking jokes the whole trip back, but once there, he put me in irons and threw me in the hold the minute I'd helped the lady aboard.
  • Trader Crewmember: I honestly can't remember any of this! When I woke up I was in the hold with a bad headache and bound in chains. Only later did I hear your voice, and screamed.

Afterward[]

  • Player: I've already talked to them.
    • Chat again?
      • Yes
        • (Same as above)
      • No

Talking to Skippy[]

First time[]

  • Player: I've been following the Iron Link's cases since he started, and I know you were involved in quite a few of them. What happened?
  • Skippy: I was drunk one evening when I saw this well dressed man in a rowing boat. He flashed some riches at me, promised me a better life far away and told me he could make all my nightmares go away.
  • Skippy: All I had to do was help him out. He was friendly, smooth-talking, I was too drunk to know better, so I went with him. His ship was scary looking, but he said it was necessary to make the journey safely.
  • Skippy: He told me the ship was a bit damaged, and he needed supplies to fix them.
  • Skippy: I directed him to where he'd be able to find the supplies. At first I thought he was buying them, but then he told me they wouldn't accept his currency, so he had to be a bit creative.
  • Skippy: I distracted Rommik. I carried crates of bananas. I even agreed to help carrying some sheep. I started getting squirmish when we were ambushed by a highwayman and Jed trounced him.
  • Skippy: He was hurt, so Jed suggested taking him back to the ship to be healed and brought to justice. Once there he clamped him in irons. Why would he have irons? I-I started asking questions...
  • Skippy: But he got angry, overpowered me, chained me and threw me in the hold with the highwayman. From then on, he just kept bringing more and more people, it just hit home. He's a slaver.
  • Skippy: I shouldn't have believed him. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. I even lost my shoe!
  • Player: Listen, we all make mistakes. What matters is that you're safe. I've even got your shoe!
  • Skippy: Thank you! I think I might have a little drink at Zambo's then head back.

Afterward[]

  • Player: I've already talked to him.
    • Chat again?
      • Yes
        • (Same as above)
      • No

After speaking to all of the victims[]

  • Player: That's all of them checked over. The Iron Link, this Jed, is a slaver from the Eastern lands who was luring people onto his ship. We manage to save his victims, but he escaped. Hopefully I will catch him one day.
Congratulations! Case complete!

Progress notes[]

  • I need to investigate Thurgo's report of a ship to the north-east of Karamja.
  • I have confronted the culprit, a man called Jed or the Iron Link, on his ship near north-east Karamja. At first he denied any wrongdoing, but his talking to me caused his prisoners to call for help. With Zambo's help, we made him flee and freed all the prisoners. I should check on them.
  • I have checked on people pertaining to 1 case. I should check on 4 more.
  • I have checked on people pertaining to 2 cases. I should check on 3 more.
  • I have checked on people pertaining to 3 cases. I should check on 2 more.
  • I have checked on people pertaining to 4 cases. I should check on 1 more.
  • I have checked on everybody. Jed had been luring people on his ship using false pretence, then emprisoning them with view to sell them as slaves in his homeland.

The Eastern Mystery - Part 10[]

Trader Stan reports theft of a ship. Go and talk to Trader Stan in Port Sarim to investigate.

Talking to Trader Stan[]

  • Talk about Meg's cases
    • Player: I've been informed that one of your ships was stolen?
    • Trader Stan: Yes, a chartered ship had just arrived and we were performing a crew change, when the ship just left all by itself.
    • Player: All by itself?
    • Trader Stan: I may be exaggerating. A rather soggy individual was on deck, having thrown the gangplank at us. He was mostly dressed in dark clothes, no sleeves...
    • Player: A beard, looking rather smug?
    • Trader Stan: You've met him?
    • Player: Yes. He's a slaver from the Eastern Lands, who came to lure people to join him under false pretence only to bind them in irons in his ship.
    • Player: We saved his victims and destroyed his ship, but he escaped. And now with a new ship to his name, he'll probably be heading back home to the Eastern Lands.
    • Player: Until I can get there myself, I guess your ship is lost. But I'll catch him and bring him to justice.
    • Trader Stan: Thank you. Tell me if you ever get news of my ship.
  • Talk about something else
    • (Non-case dialogue)
Congratulations! Case complete!

Progress Notes[]

  • Talk to Trader Stan on the Port Sarim docks.
  • Stan told me his ship was stolen by a soggy dark-clothed individual. The description matches Jed, the Iron Link. That ship is now most likely bound towards the Eastern lands, with little hope of being recovered.
