Shirtless manEdit

  • Player: Hello!
  • Player: What are you doing here?
  • Gambler: Trying to win my shirt back. I lost it last night in a silly bet.
  • Player: Well I hope your luck improves. I doubt it can get any worse.
  • Gambler: Well I've little left to lose, maybe some more hair and my trousers.
  • Player: I really think you should try to hold on to them.
  • Player: So how do these rat pits work?
  • Gambler: Things work simply in the Ardougne ratpits.
  • Gambler: If you have a kitten and at least 100 coins you can challenge someone else who also has a kitten and some spare change.
  • Player: That sounds simple enough so far.
  • Gambler: You then agree on a wager. It's rumoured that some ratcatchers can talk to their own cats and give them tactics to aid them.
  • Player: So then how do you win the challenge?
  • Gambler: I was just getting to that. Both the gamblers' cats are placed inside of the fenced off area, and whoever kills 5 rats first wins.
    • Player: That sounds vile and cruel.
      • Gambler: It's a cruel world and the pits are no exception.
      • Gambler: Every day guards are killed for no better reason than to sate the bloodlust of some despicable adventurer.
        • Player: One more thing...
          • [returns to responses]
        • Player: Thanks for your help.
    • Player: It sounds a little dangerous for my cat.
      • Gambler: I agree. Cats have been known to be killed in fights.
      • Player: Oh how terrible. Is there nothing you can do to save your cat?
      • Gambler: Of course there is, you can instruct it to be cautious, and it will leave once it feels as if it is in danger.
      • Player: Oh that sounds quite wise.
      • Gambler: That depends on how you value your cat.
      • Player: Sorry, I don't follow.
      • Gambler: Well if your cat dies or it runs away you lose.
      • Gambler: So the longer it stays in the fight the better chance you have of winning.
        • Player: One more thing...
          • [returns to responses]
        • Player: Thanks for your help.
    • Player: Wow that sounds like fun!
      • Gambler: I don't know about that.
      • Gambler: One thing I know though is that it's a quick way to make and lose money.
        • Player: One more thing...
          • [returns to responses]
        • Player: Thanks for your help.
    • Player: Is there a limit to how much you can bet?
      • Gambler: Hmmm...let me see. If I'm not mistaken, you can currently bet up to a maximum of [number] coins.
      • Player: That sounds like a silly amount of money to bet on a cat fight.
      • Gambler: You'd be surprised what some people would be willing to bet.
      • Gambler: There is a minimum bet of 100 coins too.
        • Player: One more thing...
          • [returns to responses]
        • Player: Thanks for your help.
    • Player: Can I challenge you and your cat?
      • Gambler: No, not now, we don't really bet with outsiders.
      • Player: But I'm not an outsider, am I not inside in[sic] the pits now?
      • Gambler: I don't know, maybe once you've done something to win over my trust.
      • Player: Can it be bought?
      • Gambler: What?
      • Player: Your trust.
      • Gambler: No. Regular townsfolk don't like us, which leads us to distrust them and anyone else.
        • Player: One more thing...
          • [returns to responses]
        • Player: Thanks for your help.

Woman with beretEdit

  • Player: Hello!
  • Player: What are you doing here?
  • Gambler: Having fun. It's such a blast I've already won 5 thousand gold coins today, my cat just keeps winning.
  • Player: So how do these rat pits work?
  • Gambler: The Port Sarim pits are quite fussy, no lazy cats allowed in here.
  • Player: Lazy cats?
  • Gambler: You know if you neglect a wily cat, it gets fat and lazy, well they're not allowed to fight in here, only wily cats.
  • Player: That sounds simple enough so far.
  • Gambler: You then agree on a wager. It's rumoured that some ratcatchers can talk to their own cats and give them tactics to aid them.
  • Player: So then how do you win the challenge?

Man with leather bodyEdit

  • Player: Good day.
  • Gambler: What's so good about it?
  • Player: What's eating you.
  • Gambler: I'm ruined, all because of that stupid cat! It has ruined me.
  • Gambler: Why did it have to get itself killed? Why?
  • Player: *Aside* I think I should leave him alone. He seems a little upset right now.

Woman with ripped trousersEdit

  • Player: Hello!
  • Player: What are you up to?
  • Gambler: Trying to win back some money.
  • Player: Is it going well?
  • Gambler: In every bet there is a fool and a thief and I'm beginning to think that I'm not much of a thief.
  • Player: So how do these rat pits work?
  • Gambler: It's simple.
  • Gambler: In Varrock if you have a grown cat and a couple of coins you can challenge someone else who also has a grown cat and some spare change.
  • Player: That sounds simple enough so far.
  • Gambler: You then agree on a wager. It's rumoured that some ratcatchers can talk to their own cats and give them tactics to aid them.

Woman in dressEdit

  • Player: Hello!
  • Player: What are you doing?
  • Gambler: Nothing much. Just keeping myself occupied, placing a couple of wagers here and there.
  • Player: Are you winning?
  • Gambler: Yes in the sense that I'm not as bored as I was and no in terms of the number of coins in my purse.
  • Player: So how do these rat pits work?
  • Gambler: Things work simply in the Ardougne ratpits.
