Reason: After tools have been delivered
You can discuss this issue on the talk page or edit this page to improve it.

Before the tools have been delivered[]

  • Darla: Would you look at that?
  • Player: Look at what?
  • Darla: Why this chest that I've found - buried right here in Falador all along. My research had led me here but I never expected to actually find it.
  • Player: Why don't you get it out then?
  • Darla: It's stuck! I'm waiting on some tools to be delivered here so we can start extracting it from the ground - a young woman named Alice is funding the excavation. The tools should arrive here in [number] day(s). Once they're here feel free to come back and help with the excavation.

During the lost sword of King Raddallin event[]

Initial dialogue[]

  • Darla: Goodness me, can you believe it? After all this time it was buried right here in Falador and we never even knew.
  • Player: What are you talking about?
  • Darla: You don't know? Praise be to Saradomin, we think we've discovered the lost sword of King Raddallin, the first King of Asgarnia! I've been tracking this treasure for years but had never expected to find it so close to home. We can't open the chest yet but we're asking for adventurers' help to recover and open it. So..are you ready to help us? I'm sure they'll[sic] be a reward in it for you and plenty of skills to train while we uncover this treasure.
    • Goes to the options in the section below.

Subsequent dialogue[]

  • Darla: Welcome back and thank you for your continued help recovering the lost sword of King Raddallin.
    • What skills do I need to use today?
      • Day 1
      • Darla:
      • Day 2
      • Darla: Looks like we cultivated the area a little too well! Use your Woodcutting skills to chop the tree down or use your Herblore skills to poison it.
      • Day 3
      • Darla: The chest was damaged in the fall from cutting down the tree, it looks like we also triggered some defence mechanisms. We'll need your Construction skills to build a podium and Prayer to sanctify the chest.
      • Day 4
      • Darla: Looks like the chest has more protection than just the lock. You'll need to use your Divination and Runecrafting skills to break the protections on the chest.
      • Day 5
      • Darla: All that stands in our way now is opening the chest. I recommend using Strength and trying to brute force it, or any Thieving knowledge you have to jimmy the lock.
    • How much progress have we made?
      • Goes to event image of progress shown with description.
    • Are there any rewards I can claim?
      • If there are none.
      • Darla: You don't have any rewards to claim at the moment.
      • If there are rewards.
      • Darla: Looks like you had some unclaimed rewards, I've added them to your inventory!
    • Can I buy some more tools?
      • Darla: I can sell you 10 small tool packs and 10 large tool packs. Once you've used them I can't get any more I'm afraid so use them carefully.
      • Goes to Tool Shop to spend Loyalty Points.
    • Ask more about the lost sword.
      • What's going on here?
        • Darla: We think we've discovered the lost sword of King Raddallin, the first King of Asgarnia! Thanks to my friend Alice for funding the excavation we now have the tools needed to recover the chest from the ground. Each day I can give you some basic tools that can be used to help recover the chest. Use them to help us get closer to opening it up!
        • You can win golden tools from Treasure Hunter if you wish to contribute more to recovering the chest.
        • Darla: The more we pull together as a community, the more I will reward you for helping me out.
      • What do I get out of this?
        • Darla: Rumour has it that King Raddallin buried a number of his treasures in secret places around the time of the Wizards' Tower burning as he was worried about the chance of a civil war breaking out. The reward that is probably of most interest to you is one of his Raddallin's swords, not much is known about it, but it is said to radiate the power it contains. You'll be able to train several skills each day while recovering the chest and I'll also offer out additional rewards to everyone that helps as we get closer to opening the chest. There are rumours that the chest may also contain some of King Raddallin's personal journals which I'm more interested in discovering and will return with me to Varrock.
      • Who are you?
        • Darla: My name is Darla, and working with Varrock museum I've been recording the history of Falador for over two decades. My research in recent years has turned to finding out more about King Raddallin; he's always been an interesting figure but as we've uncovered new information it has altered the direction of our search. Recent documents have mentioned that Raddallin may have had a closer relationship than we have been laid to believe with Lord Valzin, the founder of the Kinshra. The accusation is laughable, of course, but if this chest is truly from this time period we could uncover new information that is of much interest to us. I'm here to overlook this project and make sure that anything recovered is correctly preserved.
      • Goodbye.
        • Darla: Take care!

Giving her the letter from King Raddallin[]

  • You hand over the letter and Darla begins to read it.
  • Darla: Th-this can't be right! We knew Raddallin and Valzin were associates at the beginning of his reign but this suggests that even at the end they were still friends. This just can't be! The people of Falador, the White Knights, none of them are ready to hear this... This will change history, and who knows what will happen next. Just look at the fighting that's happening right now. If we allow the Black Knights to be legitimised then this whole region could fall into a new civil war.
    • I think you're right.
      • Darla: Yes, yes, thank you for agreeing with me. It goes against everything I stand for but I feel this letter must be preserved and kept private until we can be sure people are ready to hear this.
    • That's not your place to decide.
      • Darla: And it's your place instead? To risk hundreds of lives for some heroic vision of the world? I'm sorry but in this case I feel this letter must be preserved and kept private until we can be sure people are ready to hear this.
  • Darla: I thank you for your assistance in recovering these items. Feel free to keep the sword, maybe it's best that it stays lost for the peace of Falador. Thank you for all your help!
  • Darla hands over a large prismatic lamp in return for the letter. She hands you a copy of the letter in her own handwriting.

Giving her the tools left over[]

  • Darla: Thank you for all your help! You have tools left over that I'll take off your hands. For each tool I'll give you a lesson in a skill of your choice.

Claiming rewards (ironman accounts)[]

  • Darla: As an ironman[sic], I'm unable to give you the rewards I'm afraid. It looks like you're doing well on your own!

After the event and without tools before handing in the letter[]

  • Darla: Thank you for all your help!

Darla talking overhead about the chest[]

Day 1[]

  • Could this really be the treasure I've spent all these years looking for?
  • Let's work together to get this chest out of the ground!
  • We need to use our Mining and Farming skills to get this chest out!

Day 2[]

  • I said get the chest out the ground, not grow a massive tree! Honestly...
  • We need to use our Woodcutting and Herblore skills to get this chest down!
  • Why did I think I could trust adventurers to help me with this? A tree, I mean really!

Day 3[]

  • It's in the ground again? We're back where we started!
  • Strange, it looks like we've triggered some magical defences...
  • We need to use our Prayer and Construction skills to stabilise the chest!

Day 4[]

  • I think I'd have better luck coordinating penguins, then[sic] you adventurers!
  • More spells on the chest? What was Raddallin up to?
  • We need to use our Runecrafting and Divination skills to break the wards!

Day 5[]

  • We're nearly there! Come on adventurers, we can do this together[sic]
  • We're so close to recovering the lost sword!
  • We need to use our Strength and Thieving skills to get this chest open!
