At Seers' Village Courthouse, after King's Ransom Edit

If the player has rewards to be collected from a successful trial:

  • Clerk: Well, hello. I'm glad you stopped by, I have a reward for you from the last case you completed. You'll need to collect it before you can do any more cases.
  • Player: Great!

Otherwise:

  • Court summons.
    • If a case is active:
      • Clerk: How's the current case going?
        • Player: It's going fine.
          • Clerk: That's good to hear.
        • Player: It's not going so well
          • Clerk: Well, make sure to research your case. Check the filing cabinet for details of your case.
        • Player: I'd like some more information
        • Player: I'd like to give up the case.
        • Clerk: Hmm, too bad. Well, I'll take all those files off you. You can try again later, if you like.
          • (Removes court documents and court summons, removes active case)
    • If the player has a court summons but no active case:
      • Clerk: Would you like to defend or prosecute?
        • Defend.
          • Clerk: Look in the filing cabinet by my desk for more details on your case. When you feel prepared, use the stairs to enter the courtroom.
          • (Activates the case)
        • Prosecute.
          • (Same as above)
    • Otherwise:
      • Clerk: Sorry, I can't give you any more cases. If we have need of you we'll get in touch by sending a court summons.
      • Player: How will I get the summons?
      • Clerk: We have ways. You might find one while fishing, completing treasure trails, fighting monsters, or pickpocketing. Although, if you're pickpocketing, I don't want to know about it!
      • Player: Okay, I'll keep an eye out.
  • Court procedures
    • Player: I'd like to ask about court procedures.
    • Clerk: Well, ask away. Hopefully I can help.
      • Player:Could you just run me through the whole process again?
        • Clerk: I can, if you pay attention this time!
        • Clerk: If you have received a court summons, or would like to do a simple case, speak to me and I'll get you squared away.
        • Clerk: Once you have an active case, look in the filing cabinet next to my desk. In there, you'll find all the case reports and extra materials you'll need. Make sure you read through them before you start your investigation.
        • Clerk: Some cases will require you to track down witnesses and suspects to conduct interviews. Check your case report to find out if you need to do this.
        • Clerk: Finally, some cases will require you to investigate the crime scene. You'll get a viewing orb with your case reports if you need to do this.
        • Player: Wow, that's going to be a lot of work!
        • Clerk: That's not even the half of it!
        • Clerk: Having investigated your case, you'll be ready for the trial. Head downstairs into the courtroom to begin.
        • Clerk: Present your physical evidence, call witnesses to make statements, and present your arguments clearly.
        • Clerk: Once you feel confident that you have made your case, summarise it to the Jury. I'd recommend trying to find a member of the Jury who looks sympathetic to your case. Then the Jury will pronounce their verdict.
        • Player: Yikes, what have I got myself into?
        • Clerk: Oh, don't worry about it too much. There's no time limit on how long it takes you to complete a case and we'll reward you well for your hard work.
      • Player: Where can I find people involved in the case?
        • Clerk: Defendants are held here, in the jail cells. You can speak to them at any time.
        • Clerk: Witnesses are quite often still at their places of residence; your case report should indicate where.
      • Player: How do I get information about the case?
        • Clerk: I'd start by looking in the filing cabinet next to me. All the case reports are in there. Once you have your reports, read through them to familiarise yourself with the case.
        • Clerk: Sometimes a report will recommend interviewing witnesses or suspects. Defendants are held here, in the jail cells. You can speak to them any time.
        • Clerk: Witnesses are quite often still at their places of residence; your case report should indicate where.
        • Player: Okay, I'll get started.
      • Player: Actually, I don't have any questions.
        • Clerk: Well, I'll speak to you later.
  • Check cases.
    • Player: I'd like to see which cases I've completed.
    • Clerk: Hmm, let's take a look.
    • (Opens court history interface)
  • Nothing.
