The Thorny snail is a level 13 Summoning familiar. It is summoned using a Thorny snail pouch. It can be used for the following things:Ranged Exp
- Combat: it is level 26 and can hit up to 4. Additionally, its Slime Spray scroll can deal a max of 8 damage, which is a big jump from the lower levelled familiars.
- Beast of Burden: it is the weakest Beast of Burden, side from the level 25 Clay being class one, with a combat level of 25 and only one beast of burden slot. The Thorny Snail can only carry 3 items for a player. As a result, it is seldom used, even by low levelled players.

Thorny snail pouch is made by using a Summoning pouch on a Summoning obelisk with 9 spirit shards, a gold charm and a raw thin snail in the inventory. Making the pouch earns 12.6 experience points. Using the pouch to summon a Thorny snail gains 0.2 experience points, and costs 2 Summoning points.

- A hermit crab is a crab with a somewhat thorny shell. The examine info implies that the thorny snail is like a hermit crab in that it also has a decidedly thorny shell.
