Thorny snail chathead

The thorny snail is a level 13 Summoning familiar. It is summoned using a thorny snail pouch. It can be used for Ranged experience. The thorny snail has a combat level of 16 and can hit up to 172. It only uses melee up close and will use ranged attacks when away from the target. Additionally, its Slime Spray scroll can deal bonus damage.

The snail can also serve as a Beast of Burden that can carry up to 3 items. However it is the lowest level beast of burden apart from the class one clay being, the cub worldbearer and the little worldbearer. As a result it is seldom used.

One advantage of training with thorny snails or creating the pouches is that once the quest Nature Spirit is completed, all ingredients needed are all in the same area, providing you bring enough gold charms. Spirit shards and pouches may be bought from the Nature Grotto's wishing well, thin snail may be obtained from killing myre blamish snail and ochre blamish snail south of the Grotto.

Trivia[]

  • A hermit crab is a crab which lives in the cast-off shells of snails or other shellfish. The examine info therefore implies that the thorny snail is actually a slug residing in a snail's shell. This may also be a reference to the summoning ingredient being a shell-less snail body, and when it is summoned it has a new shell.
  • If you are wearing a snelm of any kind, it will tell you that you are wearing the spine of his dead relatives as a hat.
