Third-Age Dye detail

Third-Age Dye can only be obtained from elite and master Treasure Trails, and from the Giant Oyster. All tier 90 and 92 power armour and weapons (excluding defenders) can be dyed with it, provided that the item in question is not already dyed.

Once the dye is applied to an item, that item becomes untradeable, and the dye cannot be removed by any means.

When added to armour, it renders the armour repairable by using the raw materials to replenish charges. The repair mechanics of dyed weapons remain unchanged.

A Q&A livestream on 22 September 2015 revealed that 209 Third-Age Dyes have been obtained at that point. It was also said that there are four players who have received two dyes each.[1] In another Q&A Livestream on 2 March 2016, it was revealed that 331 Third-Age Dyes have ever been obtained.[2]

The drop chance of Third-Age Dye is approximately 1/50,960 per reward spot from elite clues. As elite clues have an average of 5 rewards, the per-clue chance of receiving at least one Third-Age Dye from an elite clue is approximately 1/10,192 (0.009811%). For a more detailed breakdown of drop mechanics and calculations, see Treasure Trails/Rewards.
