Here are all of the glitches associated to The Great Orb Project minigame:

[edit] Gameplay

[edit] Barriers

A player utilises the Barrier Glitch to devious ends
  • A glitch would let players set an infinite number of barriers instead of just one. This happened when a player clicked somewhere and then clicks the barrier wand. (Note that by using this glitch it is possible to create barriers adjacent to the altar or the exit portal, where normally it is not possible.)
  • Another glitch has been observed, in which both the players and the orbs are unable to pass through certain gaps between the standing stones surrounding the altars. This may be due to the effect of barriers created in previous games, and has not yet been corrected.
  • Runecrafters not playing the game used to be able to destroy the barriers. This has now been corrected with the non-players only being able to pass through barriers.
  • There is also a glitch where, when everyone except one person has gone through the exit portal and the teams are unbalanced, everyone that went through the exit portal is booted out of the game, leaving the one person left behind in the game to play by him/herself.
Accessing closed areas
  • A glitch lets players move through walls by clicking the "pass through" option on barriers near walls.
  • A glitch also exists when a player in high detail with ground textures turned on can remove flowers (on the nature alter) and flames (found surrounding the fire alter) when one uses a barrier on them and removes it.
  • There is a glitch where you are able to take objects (and the interface) where ever you want.(working as of December 16th 2009)
A player takes the interface of the GOP to Varrock.

[edit] Scores

  • From 8 June 2009 to 9 July 2009, the two members altars were counted in a game's scores on a free world, which gave all players in those games an extra 20 tokens having "lost" those altars.
  • Up to 9 June 2009, the scores of the Air altar were copied to the Mind altar, regardless of which team actually won this latter altar.
  • There was a glitch (which was noticed in F2P) where if a player was inactive in 1 out of the 6 rounds, and the final score ended up being 3-3, the inactive player would be rewarded as if the final score was 4-2 in favor of the player, without interfering with other player's scores. Other players' rewards were unaffected.

[edit] Other

  • If a player exits the game after a round has finished but before entering the next altar, anyone who has already stepped through the portal will be kicked out of the game, and anyone who has not will continue playing alone.
  • There is no time penalty for exiting the game immediately before it starts, but it sometimes causes the game to start with uneven teams, or with less than the required 4 players. This technique is utilized by experienced players and they often manipulate the number of people joining a game to give an unfair advantage to a friendly party joining the game.
  • A glitch exists when a player uses a skillcape emote continuously as the portal allowing entry to a newly started game opens. Players can constantly perform the emote and rejoin the game upon whichever alter they wish. If A player were to join just before the mind altar the air altar would be played twice instead, after which players would go to the water altar. This glitch has now been fixed.

[edit] Graphics

  • When a player on either team wins the round and has items which do not allow all the rune essence won in the round to fit in their inventory, the remaining essence is dropped on the ground to be picked up when there is room. When this happens while standing in a barricade, the essence does not end up at the players feet but above his head. When the player moves outside of the barricade, the essence appears to float in the air.
  • Another glitch occurs when a player makes a barrier above the flames in the Fire altar (or on any other ground objects, such as on flowers in the Nature altar) and removes the barrier, this removes the object (for example fire, flowers, etc.).
Barrier glitch
  • Certain players' characters standing in a barrier would disappear leaving only the hat and the wand.

[edit] Other

  • There is also a glitch where logging out in Runecrafting altars outside of the minigame will cause the player to be sent to the Runecrafting Guild. The cause of this is unknown, but it appears that it's directly related to the minigame.
  • A glitch exists where players can not buy more stackable items (such as teleport tablets) when they have a full inventory, but with that item in it too. One is forced to create another inventory space to buy more.
