Terror dog

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

Terror dogs are found at the end of Tarn's Lair. Players can access them very quickly by utilising the teleport to Tarn's Lair on the slayer ring, assuming that the player has spent 75 points on a ring or 300 points on unlocking the ability to craft these rings. They are the only monster that drop Granite helmets, making this the only way to get one besides trading with another player or getting them as a drop on a PvP world. They can be killed at level 40 Slayer. Although they are in a multi-combat area, the Dwarf Multicannon cannot be used here. Tarn's Lair quickly drains prayer (much faster than barrows) so it is best to plan on not using prayer. As such, high level armour (perhaps Guthan's) and food is recommended. The spell Bones to Peaches is also useful for food. It is also useful to use a halberd and trap them.

Terror dogs drop blue charms often, about one in every 6-9 kills. Other than that, they appear to have very similar drops to Green Dragons.

Terror dogs do not count toward fulfilling a Slayer task for dogs.

[edit] Strategy

Fighting terrors dogs (mostly done for slayer tasks) can be a difficult and very annoying task, however by standing in the far crevices can allow you to only have to fight one enemy at a time and more importantly only 1 level 100 terror dog at a time. Standing with your back in the middle of the far wall of the crevice forces the terror dogs to line-up for attack.

When entering Tarn's room head straight into one of the crevices, ideally the north-eastern or the north-western one as this is where a level 100 terror dog spawns. Initially you may have to fight a few of the larger level 110 dogs as they will follow you and continue to attack you.

It is advisable to carry monkfish or higher healing food to lengthen stays and also to carry dragonhide armour or prayer potions for crossing the pillars. The skeleton mages can hit hard on metal armour if that is what you are wearing.
