When an administrator closes a VfD where the consensus is to keep, they should insert this template at the top of the talk page for the article. This information should help to reduce repeated nominations.

For 2nd and subsequent VfD discussions, optional parameters may be used to indicate where the subsequent discussions were located at. For instance:

{{Previous vfd|Discussion 2| for the second time,}}

to both indicate that this is the second VfD (or third, fourth, etc.) and that the debate to delete this article has been brought up several times in the past.
