A Tectonic mask is a magic helm made from tectonic energy dropped by Vorago. The mask requires 90 Defence to equip and is a part of Tectonic armour set. It can be made by combining a stone of binding with 14 tectonic energy, requiring 91 Runecrafting and giving 500 experience. They are tradeable until worn and cannot be repaired. Attempting to wear it will give a warning that as soon as they are equipped they become untradeable. After about 60,000 hits the item degrades into dust.
Losing the Tectonic mask by being killed in the Wilderness will result in a fraction of the original tectonic energy being dropped on death, based on how degraded it was, rounded down. For example, if the mask had 52% of its charges remaining, 7 tectonic energy would be dropped on death. This can be used to refund most of the cost of the mask, although the stones of binding are not returned.
