Tangle Vine

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

Tangle Vines would cover the ground as a random event.

The Tangle Vine is a former random event that caused much panic when spotted. The minute it started to appear some players ran, which was a big mistake. If a player ran while standing on the vines, they would slowly sap the player's Hitpoints.

The Tangle Vine's appearance is the same as the marshy plant from the Jungle Potion quest, where you search it and obtain Snake Weed. It is located South-West of the Tai Bwo Wannai Village. It is also similar in appearance to a stage of growing watermelons, when you grow them in any allotment patch.

In some jungle-like areas (such as Karamja), it was hard to tell if the Tangle Vine appeared, and some players would walk while standing on it without noticing it. Many people died and lost their items due to the Tangle Vine. Some players would tell others to run, and if they did, they would slowly die, and the person would take their items. This would be in breach of rule 2 of the Rules of RuneScape. The Tangle Vine is the only random event to spread out and affect more than one person.

[edit] Removal of the Tangle Vine

Following massive amounts of criticism and feedback from players, Jagex removed the Tangle Vine.

[edit] POH Tangle Vine

With the release of the Construction skill came the return of the Tangle Vine. The Tangle Vine reappeared as a trap that could be created for a dungeon in a player-owned house. Building a tangle vine costs 100,000 coins and grants 316 construction experience.

When a player stands above the trap, it will grab the player making them stay still for about 5 seconds, during which other players and monsters in the dungeon can attack them. Higher agility levels help players to avoid the trap.
