Talk:Wilderness

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

I'm gonna work on adding a map and a Points of Interest part, jsut like with the other Kingdom articles. This isn't technicall a kingdom, but I think it works. Oddlyoko

Thinking the same, but paerhaps it needs to be sliced up a bit more, as it's big.

Obviously, the members area past the high level gate is one section that can be taken on its own, but the rest could be halved or quartered to get down to areas with about as much in them as a large city - or perhaps the wilderness is the region, and each place gets a city-style mention? Ace of Risk 00:00, 12 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Mmm... Lets use this article as an overview, like the Kingdom articles, and halve the wilderness into Members and Free, and make thise liek the City articles. Individual areas of the Wilderness aren't worth individual articles. Oddlyoko 05:49, 12 Nov 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Edgeville route to Mind altar??

Huh? Can someone clarify what is meant by the reference to the Edgeville route to the Mind altar please? Shadowdancer 04:11, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

The mind altar is most often reached by players from the Falador bank. Edgeville, however, is closer (roughly 25%), although it does go to as high as level 4 wilderness. Hyenastetalk 04:35, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Thank you. Shadowdancer 04:39, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Extension

It's rather surprising that this guide is far less informative than the Wilderness article on Wikipedia, which describes quite a lot of "history" about the wilderness. In fact, would it be possible to encounter why Jagex introduce Wilderness? According to some Internet sources, in the very early days everywhere outside Lumbridge Castle allow PvP combat... Patrickov 07:40, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

That's right. You could also choose to be PK or non-PK...And duelling everywhere is still allowed to this day in RSC. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 07:51, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wilderness/wilderness

I'm not sure if it should be capitalized. Since it's a location it is, right?Sacre Fi 03:17, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

I believe that it is capitalised in-game, so that's what we use. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 08:23, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edgeville dungeon wilderness

What about the wilderness part of Edgeville dungeon? I don't see any mention for it. It's members only and have the boss of family crest quest, Chronozon. Also, it's the only way to reach Air and Earth obelisks used to make battlestaves. I think it should be added.EMG Blue 07:42, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Add it then. Don't know much about it myself. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 12:24, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
I added it, but I took it straight from Edgeville Dungeon. EMG Blue 15:02, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Where is it? I can't find it. I've looked, and I can't find it. <:( Sold to Azliq. :oChiafriend12Man-skirt, or authentic Scottish kilt? 03:45, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Go to edgeville...go to the remains of the church...go down the ladder near the coffins...follow the dungeon until you get to a gate which gives you the Wilderness warning sign when you get near it. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 08:36, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Oh, thanks. :) Sold to Azliq. :oChiafriend12Man-skirt, or authentic Scottish kilt? 14:41, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Teleport limit

What's the limit on teleports in the wilderness again? I know at some level of wilderness, like 20 or 25 or something, teleports don't work past that level. File:Eagle eye.PNG Atlantima talk trade contribs

Level 20. Sold to Azliq. :oChiafriend12Man-skirt, or authentic Scottish kilt? 22:54, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
Well, actually, if you are using some teleports, you can go up to level 30 wilderness. Can't remember which though.Arrogios 02:25, 30 November 2008 (UTC)
From article: "Items that allow teleportation to up to 30 level Wilderness: Amulet of Glory, Bracelet of combat, Necklace of skills, Pharaoh's sceptre, Grand seed pod, Ring of Life." Quests FTW! Gaz Lloyd Calcs!Awesome 18:05, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Your opinion

I've added the Bone yard in the "Other items of interests" part. Please tell me, what do you think about this and what do you think about the Bone yard article itself. Spitfire talk 17:15, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

I think it should be called other places of interest by the way... Spitfire talk 17:17, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

A question about another location in the wilderness: If you look on the world map, on the east coast in deep wilderness (north of the wildy fishing spots), there is a small peninsula with what look like walls on it. Is there any purpose to this place? I can't find a mention of it on the Wikia. The Alphy 21:24, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

It's a volcano. There's lava and stuff, and a magma-filled crater at the top with a bridge over it. You can also see a shipwreck off the coast. There isn't really anything there, except for a music track, and it is apparently unnamed. It looks neat though. Nice scenery if you want to visit it. The volcano is active, so you can see it shake and rumble and spit fireballs. troacctid 22:04, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Question

Hey I wanted to ask if a member die, would they drop there member items they have equiped in a nonmeber world, and would other non members be able to pick them up? DeaddeaddeadMore death...or is there?Maybe

  • No...I've died in wildy with mem items...they disappear Atlandy 21:10, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

all right then thx for telling me. DeaddeaddeadMore death...or is there?Maybe

[edit] New Update of Wilderness

Please add in some information about the new added monsters (Revernals), Clan War, Bounty Hunter et cetera. Many thanks. I have redirected some graphics and maps. Please add in textual update. -| § Ξδραγωναιτε §|- 14:59, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Please help find a way to upload the following wildy whole map onto Wiki.... the size is too large. http://webo.com.hk/download.php?real_fn=wilderness.png&md5_time=368798f3fcba51ea2a49b27966835672f42291981031456441&file_ext=png -| § Ξδραγωναιτε §|- 15:08, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Added some new data and removed most out of date data Ltr96 Rocks

So many pages that need to be edited now thanks to the update..

I added some info on revenants, hope it helps.

[edit] PvP

I should probably know this by now, but is it still possible to attack other players in the wilderness? I always assumed that it was, but it just wasn't as popular anymore because of the updates.  C Teng talk 13:40, 18 January 2008 (UTC)

Players can only attack other players in Clan Wars and Bounty Huneter. Sold to Azliq. :oChiafriend12Man-skirt, or authentic Scottish kilt? 20:29, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
That is so stupid! How does that at all eliminate macroers?  C Teng talk 23:19, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
It eliminates the macroers by making it impossible to sell gold, running the gold selling companies out of business (or at least away from RuneScape), thus stopping the creation, and general logging in, of the bots. Sold to Azliq. :oChiafriend12Man-skirt, or authentic Scottish kilt? 01:49, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
How does that make it impossible to sell gold? Killing people doesn't have to do with RWT, does it?  C Teng talk 02:19, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
It does, actually. Because of the trade updates, the only way to transfer bought gold was to PK the seller, and the buyers gets all but three coins of his purchase. Sold to Azliq. :oChiafriend12Man-skirt, or authentic Scottish kilt? 02:22, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] History

I think we should add a little more history to this Artcle Maybe like a timeline of the wilderness.Cowboy2 19:10, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Cowboy2

Good Idea

[edit] The "Ruins Peninsula"

Should we mention the Peninsula by the Demonic Ruins? I know it shouldnt have an article or anything big, but atleast a mention here and there. It has these unique characteristics:

  • No Monsters
  • Revenants dont go there
  • Has a Cape Seller

In other words, its a nice safespot, and I know ALOT of people who love it there.

What peninsula? The volcano? Revs do go there, I've been attacked there. troacctid 02:24, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Not the volcano, its like, that Free To Play Ruins thing south of that volcano, just go into the Wilderness, keep going till to hit the Members Gate, and walk east of the Demonic Ruins, youll see it....

They are both more together (or at least enough so and short enough), so it makes sense to. I'm surprised it's already lacking, though it is hard to name. tobylaneTalk 21:35, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] The North

I don't want to stand alone here, but does anyone else think that the North that's always referred to by the Mahjarrats is the Wilderness? Or possibly even the members-only gated area? Maybe Kolodion, the Mage Arena overlord, is giving them asylum and a place to regroup and train on the god mages inside. Not to sound overtheatrical, but maybe the Chaos Elemental has some connection to the Balance Elemental (i.e. opposites, so maybe the BE (balance elemental) favors Guthix and the "good guys" and the Chaos Elemental is the opposite. Jekyll and Hyde, kind of. Any comments?

The seeable Wildy ends at the ocean. Something else on the other end of that ocean is the north, another area that may or may not still count as wilderness. To the west is probably too cold/troll-y for these people who often come from the desert.

[edit] The north volcano

I've never notice tha a volcano was there. Can smeone tell me want's this volcano used for?? When u're there there're earthquakes, and there's a bridge. What is this location??

[edit] A question

There's an extraordinarily shiny place just west of stealing creation; level 14 wilderness. Does anyone know what that place is? Revs dont seem to go there I think this should be mentioned...
