Req/Stats Edit

I hear it's 5 years MEMBERSHIP, not just account age. Someone's math on how old their account was may have been wrong however.

Stats are +5 all defensive on cape, hood has no stats.

0.4 kg on hood and ca-e, 0.8 together

Buy from Hans in Lumbridge's court thing, the teleport/respawn location

PS: Emote can be "broken" with a yoyo (perhaps other objects too). All it does is have the V go on it's own, and it does what it normally does, but you're not on it and don't fall.

Glitch discovery and p2p clarification Edit

For documentation purposes, Btsharp was the first to discover the turning emote glitch.

Also this cape is p2p only, as stated in the official release: http://services.runescape.com/m=news/capes-of-distinction

Can't get my cape. Edit

Account is from October 2004 and I cannot get my cape. I am here in Lumbridge with 7~ other people who cannot get their cape either. Yet I see others with the cape. I have the 50k, I've been a member for 6 years. Sent a complaint to Jagex. Tried all chat options with Hans. Help!!~~!~

There is no bug. If your account has existed for 5 years or more, talk to hans and select the last option in chat. If you can't get it, your account has not existed for 5 years or more.

The Scythe in my bank says otherwise......

Why it's members only Edit

I think this cape is members only for the very simple reason that all skillcapes are members only. For example, they said people with level 99 woodcutting would be able to get a woodcutting cape, but still it's mem-only. Now the same happens with the vet cape. They say people with an account of 5 years + can get the cape, but still it's mem-only. Simple. JOEYTJE50 TALK 15:37, May 4, 2011 (UTC)

There would not be such an uproar if the f2p community was not led on to believe it was f2p. If they just simply let them know it would be p2p, people would not be as upset. However, they states that all players with accounts 5 years old would get it. Many players took this as an insult thinking that f2p are now no longer considered players. Also, Jagex allowed them to vote as well in the polls, giving them the idea that it would be available to them. Usually when the words "all players" popped up in previous announcements, f2p was given the content. Otherwise, it is assumed to be p2p, and in addition, large portions of announcements for upcoming updates would put in the word "members" at some point in the text. Despite their claims that it was intended to be p2p from the beginninng, I very much doubt it is true considering there were 3 points before the release that suggested the cape would be f2p (which never happens). Yeah, I'm not sure what to think about this. I haven't been F2P for nearly 5 years but that was definitely a low blow. They says they were planning for it to be P2P from the beginning, but then why have F2P vote on content they can't enjoy? Ridiculous...

The open poll, the use of "all players", and the number of other capes launching gave a very strong impression that the Veterans cape would be the token F2P "taster" of the collection. This is bad PR. Ace of Risk 21:51, May 4, 2011 (UTC)

Eurogamer caught attention of this e-drama and asked the Vice President of Runescape to respond.

As many pointed out, Jagex could've scored a PR victory but they didn't. Moreover, Runescape's Vice President Daniel Clough went on to say "Jagex is not about scoring PR victories; Jagex is about making great content," which shows a shift in Jagex's policies regarding how they handle player communities.

Typical Jagex brush-off answers.

i still cant claim my veteran cape, my account is at least 6 years old but it says i still need 400 days to claim it, im thinking the 5 years only starts counting when the first time you become member, or exist on highscores or some other factors. many other old players, including my older friend, cannot claim their cape.

No that's not the case. I got my cape and my account is about 5 and a half years old. And the first time i became member my account was already atleast 2 and a half years old.

Drop only 30k Edit
