Talk:Treasure Trails guide

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

Well, I've made a start on this, but it needs a LOT of work! --Eucarya 12:20, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rewards

This may be just superstition, but I believe that your chances of getting a unique item are greatly increased if you do not log out at all between the time you obtain the clue and completion of it. This may just be the way it's gone for me, so I'm not sure. --Eucarya 10:49, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Well, I've never noticed a difference, I tend to get things that aren't worth my time pretty much every time I get a scroll, but I have never had anything higher than a level 1 scroll, so I cant say anything, but I'll try and do a few without logging out, and a few where I log out at least once, I dotn know when I'll find time to do so though...Marcus Gord 16:11, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Hmm, I'm getting very (very) low drop rates of any unique items. This may just be bad luck, but here's my last clues (since the update)...

Bored with level 1s now --Eucarya 17:21, 6 December 2006 (UTC)

I've spent twice as long as it normally takes and still no clue from Guards; nevertheless, I did have one banked, which produced:
  1. 1 addy long, 39 nats, fire battlestaff. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 13:57, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
  2. 20 deaths, yew long, green dhide body, Saradomin cloak.
I had a Level 2 clue that I left in the bank for at least 5 months which produced:
  1. 1 Adamant Full Helmet (G), 1 Adamant Dagger, 1 Adamant Longsword, 1 Amulet of Power and 14 Death Runes. Chaoticar 23:22, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
  2. 6 green firelighter,s 17 law runes, 86 air runes, 1 green dragonhide chaps and 10 lobsters.

[edit] Composite bows

They are just one kind, not short comp and long comp. I have a willow comp bow and it doesn't say anything about being long or short. However, it's speed is like the longbow and has better range bonus (willow longbow and willow shortbow are +20, willow comp is +22).

[edit] Split this article?

Should we split this article in two whenever im going to edit this it says the article is so big users may have problems editing. --Whiplash 19:52, 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Press Ctrl + F and type in what your looking for that will make it easier for you.--Alex 18:43, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Finding things isn't the problem, Alex, it's the fact that certain limitations to some people means they cant see a page larger than exactly 32...somethings, whatever they are. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 19:22, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
Don't split it in two; rather, take each subsection, and make each into a subpage. Personally I'd like to see this article merged into clue scroll, but with the guide a series of clue scroll/xxxs. Hyenastetalk 19:27, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
32 kilobytes. --Whiplash 19:33, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
The actual problem is that some rather old browsers can't handle a textarea greater than 32k long, which means anyone attempting to edit the entire page with a very old browser might inadvertently wipe the bottom of the page off. Personally, I like having it in a single page, it makes things easy to find. Plus, it's unlikely that anyone wanting to edit the treasure trails guide now, even if they're using an old browser, will only edit part of a section. This guide is almost up to scratch now, and is a great advert for the wiki as a whole, because treasure trails are probably the number one used item from fan sites. --File:Smithingimg.PNG Eucarya Talk 09:04, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New coordinate added

[edit] Order

someone needs to order all the items in alphabetical order so its easier on the eyes, and easier to find items on it Woodcutter631 23:19, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Use ctrl f or cmd f on macs to find stuff. Mathwhiz90601 22:09, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Yes, it does need re-ordering maybe, but with the page being as large as it is, it's difficult to imagine people not searching it, and browsing instead. And how would you organise the co-ordinates, west to east or north to south? --Eucarya Talk 22:27, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Everything, including coordinates, should be arranged in alphabetical and numeric order. When I read a coordinate, I look at the first digit, then second, third, fourth, and then the letter for the direction. It's confusing when the list counts down for the north and then starts counting up for the south. Other fansites have them in numeric order, so it makes it easier to find missing coordinates. I'll start reordering the coords soon. Chrislee33 06:37, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

Finally done, all tables in alpha and numeric order. Chrislee33 08:02, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] co ordinate:

01 degrees 35 mins south 07degrees 28 mins east

The Green Spider island east of Yanille by 62.30.121.8 on 12:25, 23 June 2007

Added... Chrislee33 08:14, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reward

I just got a steel pickaxe and Guthix page. Lvl 1. Rich Farmbrough, 18:34 15 July 2007 (GMT). I got a zamorak page 1 and black cane only lvl 1 clue altogether got like over 800k!

[edit] Images?

I was wondering should we add images next to each item to help show the reward without clicking on each page?

[edit] hey

Can someone put this clue scroll up for me? i can't edit for some reason. File:cluescroll76.png

You almost had it, just missed using the symbol | at the beginning. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Table for more info about tables. Chrislee33 18:56, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The Breakup

I have a mid-range desktop, and editing this article is killing it. I've split the clues into a separate page because of that. Hopefully this will help readers with older computers. May be coloured blue in the near future.earth(t)

I don't like the change. I can't search quickly to find clues now. If it can't be put back into one article, then it should be grouped in larger chunks, with picture clues, coords, and puzzle boxes in one article, and verbal clues in a second article. Mamabear47 02:40, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

I also do not like the change as I cannot just do a quick search without having to go to a page for each type of clue I get.--image:Quest point cape.gif Bigm2793Talkimage:Quest point cape.gif00:14, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

There are the Challenge Scrolls? Ack! Can we put this back the way it was, including all the data, please!?! Mamabear47 00:27, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

I also really don't care for the new version of this guide. The old one all you had to do was ctrl+f for the clue. maybe we could keep this page, but include a link to one that was set up by the old standards? 14:42, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Low bandwidth?

I was under the impression that we already had a low bandwidth version of the guide... Why has this one been changed? Artwich 17:21, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

I have a 56kps connection and all of pictures on this guild (despite how usefull they are)really slow down my connection. Is there are non-picture version of this guide or one with pictures optional? Noble fauf 22:46, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Try here: Treasure Trails guide - lag reduced. Quests FTW! Gaz Lloyd Calcs!Awesome 22:49, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Capitalisation

Someone capatalize the g in guide.

76.91.36.48 03:32, 4 July 2008 (UTC)NightElfArcher

It cannot be done. Treasure Trails Guide is a separate article - the choice between the full article and the broken up version. Quests FTW! Gaz Lloyd Calcs!Awesome 11:37, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Puzzle boxes?

Is anybody else only seeing 2/3 of the troll and none of the other two puzzle boxes? I see that they're still there, but I am unable to see any of the pictures. >.< KarlisA.pngKarlisB.pngKarlisC.png 23:34, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

In-game or in the article? I get roughly equal distrobution of them in-game... If its the article, you probably need to clear your cache, or something like that. Quests FTW! Gaz Lloyd Calcs!Awesome 09:09, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] help

come to the evil ledge, yew know yew want to. try not to get stung.

wtf does this mean?

Dig near the nettles in the yew trees in Edgeville. Sir Revan125 12:56, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Duplicate clues

I was doing a lvl 3 trail and got the same clue twice in a row. WHich was nice. (Crate search in lumber yard)

I didn't think that'd be possible... worth a mention anywhere? Armcie 14:37, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

I've had several clues twice in a row - one of them was speaking to Hazelmere (he on;y says blah, lol). Another one is I've had the co-ordinate 20.33 N 15.48 E (west side of Chaos Temple) many times, sometimes twice in a trail. Annoying, since its in level 38 wilderness with not fast and reliable transport nearby.
Duplicate clues do happen, just not very often. Quests FTW! Gaz Lloyd Calcs!Awesome 16:36, 10 August 200

1 step east of the southern yew tree in edgeville

Got the same clue three times in a row with a level 1 clue scroll. You had to search the crate in the varrock castle. --Preferences not set right, see Template:Signatures/yourusername. 14:33, November 9, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] West Ardougne clue scroll

There were two entries for the same "Maps with X's and buildings" scroll located in West Ardougne. I got rid of the older version, but the updated version (after the graphics update) could probably use a better quality image. It looks...off, somehow.--nekobawt 22:59, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] No wild or Coordinates?

I recently obtained a level 3 scroll from aviansie. I was expected a coordinate scroll but I never had one. Im sure this is level 3 scroll because I had 1 puzzle box. Does this happen rarely? My loot was law runes, Black dragon body, Rune long, 10 blue firelighter, 13 white firelighter. Powers38 TalkSaradomin godswordI'm stalking your talk page, beware. 13:01, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

You don't always get coords clues just like you don't always get a puzzle box. -- Mercifull Image:Uk serv.PNG (Talk) 13:26, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Changing 01 etc. coords to 1

In the game it doesn't say "01 minutes north" for example, it omits the 0, so shouldn't the wiki do the same? It would make coordinates easier to find also. PikachuMayhem 17:46, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Uh, actually, the game DOES say "01 minutes north"...--nekobawt 05:04, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Please fix

Can someone please put this article back the way it was? It is a pain in the ass now having trying to find my clue scroll.--image:Quest point cape.gif Bigm2793Talkimage:Quest point cape.gif14:37, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

I agree I don't want to go to several pages. If I wanted that I would just use Tip.it... But I prefer to use Wikia because it's better information. But speed is also nice FerrelShadow 16:00, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Try this. 18:32, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
It might be a pain to go to several different pages, true, but 72 KB for one page is beyond ridiculous. WWTDD? 18:33, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Rofl

I got a clue telling me to "Search the crates in the in East Ardougne's General Store", then got a clue telling me to "Search the crates in a shop in Taverly", then got from those crates "Search the crates in a shop in Taverly" then again got "Search the crates in East Ardougne's General Store." Rofl. What a coincidence. 24.18.41.38 09:14, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Degrees

I am pretty sure 1 degree=32 squares, not 60 squares (therefore, one square is 1.875 minutes). Minutes are rounded down.
