Grandmaster[]

82.3.215.88 12:03, December 29, 2012 (UTC) Post evolution of combat....

The Pests in the second room are larger that stated in this guide.  The Spinner is lvl 100.  Also the Spinner does not have the weakness to Air Spells shown in the Spinner entry on this site.  I found magic (lvl 86) ineffective against it.  So I used melee, starting with the Shifter. Combat lvl 170.

Didn't they say this storyline will have no grandmasters? 75.174.233.39 16:26, October 1, 2010 (UTC)

Hey all, I'd like to say that Jagex never stated that there will be no Grandmasters in the void storyline...the exact postbag quote was this: "The pieces are black and white; like good mysteries they come in fours. But the game is void; there are no Grandmasters here"

This is obviously a reference to the Conquest minigame released some time ago; "the pieces are black and white" refers to the fact that one team is white and one team is black, similar to chess. "but the game is void" refers to its relation to the Void Knights. "there are no Grandmasters here" is there to point out that although it is similar to chess it IS not chess (Grandmaster being the highest international rank one can achieve when playing chess). "like good mysteries they come in fours" may be a reference to the fact that we got 3 quests+1 minigame. I think it all makes sense this way...people just took the word "Grandmaster" as a too straightforward hint about difficulty...and the chaos elemental NEVER gives so straightforward hints.

In view of this, I think the part of the article that states that Jagex said there won't be any Void Grandmaster quests should be deleted Avenger2981 09:00, October 3, 2010 (UTC)Avenger2981

I'm going to clean this up a bit, if that's alright. Formatting and grammar-wise. EDIT: Went ahead and did it. There are some left, I'm sure. Go ahead and revise it further. Lol.(Ryanzorz)

Stat Boosts[]

I was wondering what stats can be boosted (I know Magic can't) I'm particularly curious as whether Construction can be boosted or not. http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/4531/59149730.png ›Racer Of All‹  ·Talk·HiSc 10:11, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

-Can Crafting be boosted too?

I don't have an account, so someone else will need to update the main article. Smithing cannot be boosted, I was 69 using a dwarven stout to boost to 70 and it would not allow me to start the quest.

What about summoning and firemaking? --Tsukaji 08:29, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

So you can't boost smithing, what about crafting and construction? HxC Ferret 16:12, October 7, 2010 (UTC)

Gravestone[]

When you die against the queen you respawn at your normal point. Your gravestone is outside the portal that leads to the queen. However you can talk to Sir Tiffy Cashien in Falador park and he will teleport you to the portal so you can retrieve your items.86.151.215.168 15:15, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

Choice as to who dies?[]

What happens if you choose Korasi to live at the point you get the option?

I choose Jessika, Korasi was instantly killed by the drones, Jessica then closed the portal by clearing away to goo or something, she didn't help any further.

Did anyone choose Korasi?

Appearently she does not fight along with you. I heard your choice only affects the colour of elite void top you get. black for korasi and white for jessika.

--- I saved Korasi; it's true that she doesn't fight with you as she's injured, so really all that changes is a little conversation.   Smithing icon highscores  Faiylen  talk   21:21, October 6, 2010 (UTC)

I also saved Korasi. She doesn't help you at all due to the fact that she blew up the goo, and was injured. I guess the same happened to Jessika. As for the black for Korasi and white for Jessika, I got gray. I think the elite armor looks pretty cool, dispite being a failed step-up from regular void. The only problem with it I can see is the white not matching the gloves/helms (cept ranger). Gray looks kind of nice with all... They should make it all be transferable to elite, not just body/legs.

I saved Jessika. Korasi is instantly killed by the drones while my character untied jessika's bonds, she then appears to blow something up on the left side that causes the portal to shut down. I got a white elite chest :) Eat ham2 17:12, October 7, 2010 (UTC)Eat ham2

I just wanted to say that something needs to be done about people editing this guide to say "You can beat it with 10 rocktails and a bronze dagger if you're zezima like me", because this guide is NOT intended to showcase only elite methods/content, as many low leveled players read it. If you're going to be editing this in, clearly label it as an alternate strategy for high levels. Don't edit out the previous one for god sakes.

Exactly. That's what discussion pages are for. And yes, you can beat her with 10 Rocktailand a Bronze dagger, if you're TheLastWordSword like me. --Sw0rd1933 17:51, October 10, 2010 (UTC)

Question[]

Does Daquarius play a role in the quest? I haven't done it yet, but I'm wondering since the "hidden spoilers message" Jagex released mentioned him.

Yes he does, not a major role but hes there. I think his dialogue is particularly funny, had me laughing =)

Decisions through the series[]

How is the armour affected by your decisions?

Personally i got the grey 'justicar' top through:

  • tricking the pub owner
  • killing the first guard
  • saving the workers *
  • setting the pest free
  • saving jessika
  • letting void knights deal with grayzag *

From the dialogue it seems i made 2 choices that the void knight agreed with, how many 'correct' choices/what combinations gets you the other armours?

It is my impression that if you make all morally good choices, i.e. let everyone live, you will get white.

If you kill everyone, lie to the bartender etc. you will get black, and anything in between will be grey.

I made every choice a "lawful good" character would make and got the white top.

Individual puzzles[]

The solution posted for the first part of the weight puzzle (switching labels) does not match the solution I had. Is it likely that this part of the puzzle is randomly generated and varies from player to player? From lightest to heaviest, I had 3-5-2-6-4.

Weight Puzzle[]

Part Two (how to put weights on the scales). There's actually 6 possible solutions for the top scale (and only 1 solution for the bottom scale).

  • 2-6-4-3
  • 3-4-6-2
  • 3-5-3-4 (this is the one that worked for me)
  • 4-3-5-3
  • 4-4-2-5
  • 5-2-4-4

The Ambush[]

I can not really agree with the statement in the guide that the pest fight as they do in pest control, i think it's a tad innaccurate basically. I have discussed this will multiple people who say the pests (specifically the brawler) are a lot tougher here then in pest control. The brawler seemed to attack faster and harder during the quest than it ever has in pest control in my opinion (also the examine text for the brawler was different). I just think it might need to be changed so people won't think they can fight them without much preparation, or someone look into it at least. 24.211.141.239 04:41, October 14, 2010 (UTC)

I agree, from memory the brawler attacked once per tick, and it was surprisingly hard to hit given its combat level. Stewbasic 23:44, October 14, 2010 (UTC)
True, true. All four pests seem to have had some gimmick. The spinner healed pests, not portals. The torcher protected from range. The brawler could attack awfully often. The shifter could switch spots with other pests. And, well, they also had some ability of disabling running. Minnakht 23:41, February 15, 2011 (UTC)

Overexaggerating?[]

The quest guide recommends taking brews. Well, I, for one, did the quest as soon as I could, with minimum requirements - at the time, I had 78 attack, strength and constitution, and 75 defence. All I took was some Torag's armour, dragon defender, dragon boots - such stuff, nothing special. I took two prayer potions and 38 cavefish, 12 of which were held by my terrorbird, and had a sip of a super set before setting off from Falador. I had three cavefish left after being done with the fight. It really isn't that hard, don't scare the players, will you?

An useful tip for the quest - as soon as the first archer walks into place, an Elite Defiler will appear. Attack it and you'll draw its attention. Trap the Defiler behind the Queen by running to her opposite side. Some time later, a second Defiler will appear - get its attention too. This is very much like TzTok-Jad's healers - once you hit them once, they forget their original purpose and just try to kill you. If you keep two Defilers alive, no more will spawn. When they're both trapped on one side of the Queen and run to her other side, they'll be completely harmless and you'll be free to melee the queen while all eight archers are safe, sound and shooting at the drones. Seeing as without all archers in place, they won't be able to force the drones away, take your time at the beginning of the fight and deal with the Defiler. Minnakht 23:51, February 15, 2011 (UTC)

Not too bad[]

It really wasn't too bad. Only took 2 tries, and one was just to learn the ropes. But I did have a terrorbird full of brews. And if you have curses, sap warrior helps! --Law rune Mac5130 Fire rune 22:49, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah I just won the fight on my first try... I agree it's not too bad. I used a tortoise full of brews (and super restores), later on I used a spirit kyatt and ambush scrolls. I used curses as well (but I used Leech Defence). I had lots of potions left in the end. The Pest Queen is definitely a lot easier than Jad! Runerune239 14:36, April 16, 2011 (UTC)
I did it at level 96 combat on my first go, wearing proselyte with a super set, couple pray potions and and inventory and terrorbird full of shark.
So basically 96 combat with addy armour and shark. I wasn't even planning on killing it, wanted to see what it was like before I wasted brews.
Guide is definitely exaggerated. It says 100+ cb reccommended but with brews a level 80 could do it easily.

Imp Catcher?[]

so what happens if you decide to kill wizard grayzag and you haven't done imp catcher?

Imp catcher doesn't specifically require you to speak with Grayzag. Just Mizgog. Just because Grayzag is dead doesn't mean his imps are too :P

Anyways, Imp Catcher is required to complete Quiet Before the Swarm. 17:36, August 16, 2011 (UTC) Onij

How to kill the queen with minimum combat stats & 84 Herblore[]

I'm going to edit the article with this info. Hopefully there will be no edit war, but what I took was simpler than what the article has, and (as I said) I have the minimum stats to wield the sword and do the quest.

My stats are Attack 79, Strength 78, Defence 78, Prayer 85.
My inventory was: 4 Restore specials (4), 2 prayer potions (4), the rest rocktail, with one empty space to receive Korasi's sword
My BoB was: a terrorbird filled with rocktail
My armour was: Neit helm, black d'hide body, Verac's skirt, dragon boots, glory, barrows gloves, Ardougne cloak, blessed spirit shield

I used one prayer (4) completely and didn't touch the other one. I used three restore special (4) completely and 1 dose of a 4th. I had 8 rocktail left.

The point of all this is:

You don't need Sara brews or super restores.
You don't need a tortoise.
You could probably substitute dragon legs for Verac's skirt.
You do need 84 Herblore, which can be boosted, to make the Restore spec potions.

Until the drones are dead, just keep the defilers off the rangers and keep the queen from using her special. After the drones are dead, keep hitting her with the Korasi special, even when you don't have to stop her from using her special. Make sure you always have enough spec bar left to stop her special. Remember that you can only drink Restore spec once every 30 seconds. --User:Saftzie/Signature 01:50, September 2, 2011 (UTC)

84 Herblore is in no way a minimum stat. That takes considerable time and/or money to get. I reworded the title to reflect more specifically that it is minimum combat stats and 84 Herblore. I can not even boost my Herblore that high, yet I have the "minimum stats". Having 4 Restore specials (4) would make this an entirely different fight. Warp9pnt9 11:30, October 18, 2011 (UTC)

Void Pests[]

I teleported out of the pest fight after killing the spinner and shifter. I didn't log out and when I returned I didn't have to kill them again. Captain Gilroy gave me their security blocks because I didn't pick them up. I think the wording about the fight needs to be adjusted accordingly.

Trap Defilers behind boxes with Beast of Burden?[]

This was next to impossible, as the Spirit Terrorbird just stands in the way, not allowing the Defiler to get close enough for a quick run around the boxes. One may get trapped behind the box, but the other will wander back out into the main fight area. This idiotic suggestion just cost me an 10 Sara brews, Spirit kyatt pouch, and 150 Ambush scrolls, as I died and you lose everything in the BoB, something not mentioned in the article, for those who have as yet, never had to use a BoB for any boss fight. I think it is much better to try to trap them around the back of the Queen, or just not use a BoB at all and get a high enough level, or use cheaper food, or just about anything, but not try to trap anything while you have a BoB jamming up your path. Warp9pnt9 11:17, October 18, 2011 (UTC)

barehanded queen slaughter[]

How do you get Korasai's Sword again? I'm in front of the Queen's cavern, and I haven't got a sword. I think that I will use harsh language, but a sword would be much preferable, don't you think? JAGZIMA 21:43, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

Ok, I got it, but it was looking bad there for a minute. Thanks for the moral support. JAGZIMA 21:43, December 21, 2011 (UTC)

Pretty easy[]

Defeating the Pest Queen was fairly easy once I had a handle on the defilers. I wore black d'hides top and bottom, dboots, Neit helm, DFS, glory ammy, and Korasai's sword. I had a tortoise w/ rocktails, and 7 pray pots, 2 Super Defences, and one each of super strength and attack. Back in a minute. JAGZIMA 14:49, December 28, 2011 (UTC)

Not as hard as it sounds[]

I killed the Queen on my second attempt, with these stats: 80 Attack, 85 Strength, 75 Defence, 70 Prayer and 83 Constitution. I used Torag's, Dragon boots, Barrows gloves (Culinaromancer's gloves 10), Glory, Dragon defender and my Woodcutting cape. I decided to use a Combat potion, 3 Prayer potions and 23 Rocktail (1 space to get the sword). I had a Terrorbird with 12 more Rocktail as backup.

For my strategy, I attacked the Defilers as they came out, then ran to the other side of the queen as per distracting Jad's healers, and this worked fine. No more Defilers spawn if there are 2 already alive. This meant that 8 archers came out pretty quickly, and I could focus on the Queen the whole time. I was on dangerously low spec % by the end of the fight, and twice I just recovered 15% in time to spec her, so if you have 84 Herblore I'd really recommend taking Spec restores. I ended up with 5 Rocktail left over, as well as 1 Prayer potion (4) and a (2).

All in all, the fight was much easier than I'd expected, once I distracted the Defilers. People with the minimum required stats could do this fairly easily, although they will need all the food they can carry. Solarfall 02:34, February 23, 2012 (UTC)

Evolution Of Combat[]

As you are all aware the Evolution of Combat has changed the entire combat system. And with the removal of special attacks comes the problem of how to beat the queen without the special attack from Korasi's Sword. Well, luckily I have the answer. Every time the Pest Queen goes to look up to charge her special, hit her with one of the stun abilities like Backhand, itll damage her and halt the attack. Also as said already to keep the defilers off the archers so they can attack the drones to stop her healing.

TonyBest100 (talk) 12:26, November 21, 2012 (UTC)

I can confirm that this works, sometimes she even took ~1000-2500 damage when I kicked her. However, I had to *nearly* kill the queen about 10 times before she finally went down.. She kept on healing to full health every time I went to kill the defilers.. Wth?! Eventually I had every single AI alive and managed to bring her down fast enough before she could respawn the defilers. But right at the last seconds she managed to spawn one in, thankfully I managed to get some good hits to bring her down before I had to go and kill it. I really don't think it's working as intended at the moment... Got 80-81 melee stats and dragon armor. I only used a combat potion + bunyip and about half an inventory of sharks, plus about 100 prayer points for some minimal magic protection to save some sharks. All the healing from using a shield makes it very survivable, even though I basically killed her 10 times in a row (sick!).  If you know why she heals like crazy like that even with all AI's in place, please post it here...
