I removed this, as it seems pointless to me to have it in. The player still has to do the same stuff to get the shield pieces. Unless I misunderstood it, it's not needed here. --Richard1990 22:21, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

A lot of players do it that way (unless Jagex have now blocked it), as it avoids having to trust the other player to hand over the certificate. When each player gets two of their shield halves, and then swaps one so they each have a pair, nobody can be let down. Often, Shield of Arrav partners will not do it the "official" way. This method is described at Sal's Realm of Runescape Ace of Risk 19:34, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

It is possible, cos i have done it. What you have to do is take the half shield to the King, then go to the guy in the Museum. Trade one half of the certificate for the other that your friend has, then use one on the other, then claim your reward from the king. I think ill put this edit in now... It's really confusing, but doable. I need some clarification, though.

I was able to first talk to the king, then "use" the shield half on the curator (click on the half shield to highlight it, then click on the curator and use the shield on him), and he gave me two half certificates. I then traded one of the half certificates with my friend and he traded one of his half certificates with me. I then put the certificate halves together by clicking "use" on one of them and using it to the other. I then took the full certificate to the King for 600gp (my friend got 600gp also). 5/25/09

One person has to join one gang and the other needs to join the other gang. Once you get the key for the Phoenix weapon store room, give it to your friend who is trying to join the other gang. He will have to go up the ladder, and kill the Phoenix weaponmaster (your conscience won't let you kill him yourself and I couldn't figure out how to ) and take the crossbows off the ground. He'll be able to turn in the crossbows and then get the other half of the shield. 5/25/09

Black Arm vs. Pheonix Edit

"Being a member of the Phoenix gang... requires you to defeat combat level 23 personality in close combat" - No, this is incorrect. A Pheonix Gang member cannot even attempt to fight the Weaponsmaster. Members of the Black Arm Gang need to do this. "The Black Arm gang is recommended if a player has lower combat levels" - I am confused about how it is easier for low leveled players to join the Black Arm Gang. If you join the Pheonix Gang, you need to kill Johnny the Beard, at Level 2.
