My experience[]

I wasn't quite sure where to put this, but I figured if somebody is going to be compiling information, I should contribute. I've gotten two stones from each skill except for agility thus far. In general, I've noticed that contrary to the update's suggestion, it feels like after I get the first rock my chances to get the second rock INCREASE, and indeed I usually get them in the same inventory or withing a few of the first.

Agility - Tried Brimhaven for over 60 tickets, no luck, Werewolf course for 30k exp, still no luck.
Cooking - I tried cooking along with fishing. Didn't have any luck with lobbies (just like fishing) so used big net (bass and such) Got first rock in a load, second rock three loads later.
Construction - Stood for 15 minutes making arrows for first rock, another 15 or so after leaving for second rock.
Crafting - Got both rocks within a single load of crafting gold necklaces (no gems).
Farming - Took about 3 cycles (4 sets of fields) to get my first rock, got my second rock in that same cycle.
Fletching - Got my first rock within a load of making maple longbows (u), the second on the third or fourth.
Fishing - As mentioned above, five loads of lobbies yielded nothing, but big net fishing yielded first rock in one load and second rock a few loads later.
Firemaking - Burned through about a hundred maple logs, got both rocks in same inventory.
Herblore - Made about 150 potions over the course of the day using herbs from farming and miscellania. Not sure about exact moment for first rock, but second rock came about 20 potions later.
Hunter - Tried chins for an hour or so, no luck. Tried deadfall traps for an hour or so, no luck. Tried falconry for two hours after getting confirmation that it worked, finally got my first and second rocks within a few inventories of eachother.
Mining - Living rocks don't work, as has been confirmed. Got both rocks in a single inventory of grand tree mining (addy, mith, coal).
Smithing - Smelting gold did not work, got my first rock smelting my third load of addy (9-12th bars) and my second rock smithing those bars a few minutes later.
Thieving - I don't remember details, but it didn't take very long thieving from master farmers to get both rocks.
Woodcutting - Got both rocks within two inventories of yews in Seers village.

You don't get tickets by doing brimhaven's agility course, as you need to complete a lap to get one. Brimhaven's agility can't be completed. Dylandeklerk 17:49, March 21, 2010 (UTC)

15 weeks not 30 weeks[]

Well since there are 15 different statue parts shouldn't it take 15 weeks (or 16 including the base)? Fllour 20:15, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

No,there are 15 pairs of rocks,30 rocks total, you just can't add to the statue until you get a pair. --

21:15, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

I think that each statue piece also has a pair, making it 30.98.25.87.46 21:13, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

But you get the stand first without a pair Fllour 21:17, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

Comment - You only get one replica piece each time you complete the statue, but I'm not sure why it would take 30 weeks. Then again I have only got a single rock since I completed it once. Ryan PM 21:32, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

It would take 30 weeks because you can only complete the statue (and hence get a replica rock) once a week.--58.161.208.186 09:32, March 8, 2010 (UTC)

Construction Rocks[]

Has anyone with a workshop in their house gotten Construction rocks just by standing around? I spent 45 minutes reading books out of my bookcase, and nothing popped up. Do I have to make flatpacks? --Balton 21:23, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah I got both of mine from just standing there, in non-build mode. I got both of mine within a few minutes of entering my house on seperate visits. I probably spent about 20 minutes total waiting, but I was probably lucky. Cheese KaBob799 21:26, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the info! Wow, that's a relief. --Balton 21:32, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

The rocks only appear around the house portal. So you dont need to run up and down the floors. They appear as red dots on the mini map.--ElmerFudd893 17:34, March 6, 2010 (UTC)

Just sit by your portal and if it doesnt pop up within like 10 min. then go in and back out. thats what im doing but only got 1 so far

Strange Rock Rate with Agility Theory[]

I got some new theories on how you get the rocks, mainly agility. I also think I know the strange rock rate. The first rock seems to be 1 in 50-100, and the second is double the rate (so 100-200). It is hard to give exacts, but doing the action to get both stones 300 times is what you should expect (can be much rarer or much more common, all luck).

In the FAQ, this answer was given "It’s not to do with the agility course so much as the obstacles you’re crossing. With time will come the knowledge of which bits do, and do not, give rocks." As someone mentions in my previous question about the agility stone, repetitively doing low walls DOES give the stone quickly. This leads me to believe that all CLIMBING actions give the agility stone. Weather it is over a low wall, up a slope, through a pipe, or maybe even up a fence or tree (like in gnome). The only Climbing action in werewolf is 1 slope, so that is only part that seems to trigger the stone making it much harder from it. In Dorgesh-kann I believe it is the climb through hole and the squeeze though opening that can give the stone, also making it rare. Handholds and crossing ledges may also give the stone; I'm not sure about them. The theory behind climbing is that while climbing, your hand comes across a stone that you pull off and pick up. I doubt you would find a stone while doing things like swings, ropewalks, monkey bars, balancing logs, or jumping stones, since you don't grab onto any surfaces a stone could be.

Still, using things like the low wall at start of the agility pyramid repeatedly will take a good amount of time (150-300 actions), so don't expect right away. I did like 100 werewolf laps (took like 100 minutes or more and only 1 part of course had chance) and nothing, like 7 dorgesh-kann laps (2 mins each and 4 triggers per lap) and nothing, then like 150 low walls and got both. So I think all Climb Obstacles give the agility stone, but they may be other I didn't think of. Think this theory holds any fact to it or is it just me? =P Bio 21:38, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

I got a stone jumping the stepping stones at werewolf course. --Whyareall 13:21, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

Runecrafting[]

Does dropping all your ess then picking one up at a time and cafting work? i tried it for about 15 mins got nothing and got boredFllour 23:35, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

I've been rcing for like 3 hours, about 30 mins at fire alter (no rock), 1.5 hours at ZMI (1st rock), and an hour at abyss doing nats and deaths, and only have my first rcing rock -_- --Cahoszerox 01:17, March 6, 2010 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure the chance is per-essence not per-"trip" so no that shouldn't help. Cheese KaBob799 21:48, March 6, 2010 (UTC)

For me it workd best with dropping an crafting single essences. So I am of the opinion, that its a chance per "runecraft", not per "essence". But well, im not 100% sure - the only proof, that I'm wrong would be, if there's any1 who got both rocks in 1 "cast"/"trip" -> Got the first 2 rocks at blood runes (like 5 invs) - currently doing astrals - after 10invs I got 1 rock so far.

Mod Maz confirmed on the Shattered Heart recent update post that it was indeed a chance per runecraft, but the number of people dropping essence and crafting one at a time showed that they needed to change it. The post says that the game now gives a chance per essence instead; also tracking gives hunter stones (So now you actually don't need prerequisite levels in any skill to take part) and any other tweaks they have planned can't be done until the servers reboot with the next game update. I noticed a pattern...[]

When I'm trying to get rocks i seem to get the higher leveled ones a lot faster than the lower leveled ones. I was doing falconer for hunt, mine's only level 66, and it took me nearly an hour to get, then I did fishing, 99, and it took me 5 fish to get both. Similar rates for cooking (Got 2 right after each other in a little over an inventory, 99) and agility (nearly shot my foot off after doing wildy and wearwolf for an hour, then doing pyramid for another 30 minutes) (72) Maybe the rocks are more common at higher levels than at lower ones? Just throwing a theory of mine out there. 65.89.42.202 23:52, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

  • thats not the case. i have 66 cook and 60 fish and got both of them fast. I have 99 agility and took for ever untill i went to the pyrimid and did wall climb. i have 65 hunt and falconery is taking a while Fllour 00:04, March 6, 2010 (UTC)
  • Something that I though of, mabey you get the rocks faster when you do things closer to your level. Any ideas on how to test this? 173.63.114.180 00:19, March 6, 2010 (UTC)
  • It was said on the rs forums in the weekly update FAQ (or whatever it's called, it's pinned under recent updates) that it's just as hard at higher levels. Cheese KaBob799 00:09, March 7, 2010 (UTC)
  • well when i chopped magic logs i get both of them in like 2 seconds (i think i had 77wc) but when i did fm burned like 200 willow logs (60 fm) never got until i went to mahogany and got both randomly.

Serum for Herblore?[]

Does anyone know if making Serum (Tarromin + ashes) also gives you a chance for strange rocks? Red X 226 02:29, March 6, 2010 (UTC)

Just wasted 200 tarromins and came out nothing... Red X 226 04:09, March 6, 2010 (UTC)
I can also add that I made 300 serums for nothing, and then made around 150 attack potions for both. RSN: Warthog Rhys Talk Completionist's cape... Coming soon. 22:27, March 6, 2010 (UTC)
I made just under 1,100 Serums without getting any rocks, then made combat potions and eventually got them both.

These results aren't out of the ordinary, though. I personally did nearly 500 attack potions before my first rock. Thingummywut00:02, March 7, 2010 (UTC) Yeh I doubt that serums give rocks, but I got lucky making super strength potions and got the rocks relatively quickly. Coelacanth0794 22:34, March 9, 2010 (UTC)

Extreme Potions?[]

Just wondering if its possible or if anyones actually gotten a rock from making extreme pots--Scott 0888 22:21, March 6, 2010 (UTC)

Since the Knowledge Base says to combine unf. with secondaries only I'm guessing it won't work. Red X 226 02:31, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

Farming[]

Farming is my last stone. is there any way to get this without having to wait for my crops liek planting than digging out?

Don't think so. You just have to be doing farm runs when you're getting other rocks. I have a protecting patch over each pair of allotments and plant all herbs, then bind my nature amulet to the herb patch planted last and wear it. (And that I'm actually farming all the herbs I can get for the bonus XP weekend.) Red X 226 02:34, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

Chances not based on level[]

"Would it be possible to be able to get the stones faster if you're 99 in that skill already?"

We believe that this would be making things easier for those at a higher level, which we’ve seen a lot of rants about! Therefore, we will not be doing this, thus keeping it the same for everyone! So, any theories on the level having to do with probability are unlikely. However, as was quoted above, certain activities are more likely to yield a stone, so a higher level may allow more effective ways to gain a stone. Vlastne 00:04, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

Statue reward[]

Is there a reward for completing the statue each time? Aside from the culmination of experience from building it. Vlastne 01:58, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

See Replica statue piece. You can get one of them once per week, so this would imply that it'll take at least 30 weeks to obtain a full replica statue. Red X 226 02:37, March 7, 2010 (UTC)
I meant more, each time (out of the thirty for the whole replica statue) do you get any extra experience or something of the like. Vlastne 03:29, March 7, 2010 (UTC)
I don't think so, besides the xp each pair already offered. Red X 226 05:29, March 17, 2010 (UTC)

Many actions[]

I see a few comments "Doesn't work with method X - did 250" (or 500). They are probably correct because someone else would have done it, but they are not guaranteed, it took about 500 gold smelts to get one. Rich Farmbrough, 05:48 7 March 2010 (GMT).

No I was just going to accumulate them, but it shows you can do over 1000 of an activity and not get the second rock. Rich Farmbrough, 19:27 7 March 2010 (GMT).

Do feel free to add... Someone got a stone (1) when I was at the Ouriana altar with them. Rich Farmbrough, 22:41 7 March 2010 (GMT).

I did blood runes with the essence dropping tactic - took me 3invs to get both rocks... So seems like it depends on the action of binding runes rather than on the amount of essences used. GL 2 all.

Fastest Ways, Gold, and Speculation[]

Few things. First, farming hops is a great way to get stones since you can get 10-20 per patch (at least for barely). Also, Gold amulets work just as good as rings for me, so may just want to sat Gold Jewelry. Second, can only confirm is smelting gives the rock? I smelted a lot and am assuming it doesn't. Normal ore isn't a very good description of what gives (assuming only Bronze, Iron, Steel, Mithril, Adamant, and Rune). Last, I'm not sure if one replica per rebuild and needing 30 weeks should be listed yet. It may be true, but no one has even rebuilt a second time. For all we know, we get 2 replica parts the second rebuild or some other increase for multiple rebuilds. I think listing that it will take 30 rebuilds/weeks is a bit too much speculation and should be better listed as unconfirmed. Bio 17:21, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

  • Well I think you should add your experiences to the article, I think hops would indeed be very fast. But i do not agree that it's overspeculating to say that it will take 30 weeks, at this moment it's pretty safe to assume that it will, so until proven otherwise I think it should stay in there. BelovedNL 18:19, March 7, 2010 (UTC)
Yes I can confirm smelting gold ore works, 700+ for me. I crafted gold necklaces mainly, 172 I happen to remember. Farming: I picked up on the first allotment, just gathering watermelons. Woodcutting I did Ape Atoll teaks, quite quick, maybe 150. Fletching was mainly maple longs, 403. Cooking I futzed around with cakes in my POH ,then cooked trout at Burthorpe, 137 of them. Firemaking I was burning everything in sight, I think yews , oaks and trees by Varrock gate. Mining pure essence, first few loads. Construction - I was using my house as a portal so I just hung around for a minute a few times - three to be exact. Thieving I tried a few guards and heroes then went to the master farmer and Martin in Draynor - maybe 20 or 30 picks? Smithing I can't remember... [smelting is smithing - doh!] RC and the rest I'm working on. Rich Farmbrough, 20:54 7 March 2010 (GMT).

It took me like 1hr to get both rocks by pickpocketing the master farmer... Anyway, for crafting i used ruby necklaces: 1st rock after 3, 2nd rock after 9 (not invs! pieces!) - so extremely lucky/fast. Mining workd great with essence: only 2 invs... Smithing: Bronze throwing knifes - 4invs for both rocks.Fishing monks: 1 inv - 2 rocks; .

Firemaking Rocks[]

I've burned through nearly 700 logs. Most of them were Maple, some yews, some oaks. I haven't gotten any rocks, yet, for this skill. I started it using a Pyrelord, FM Gloves, and Ring of Fire. I suspect one of these may have prevented me getting the rocks. I discontinued using the PL and continued with the Ring and Gloves at about 500 logs burned. Two hundred later and still no rocks. I've heard from others that they got their rocks within two or three loads.

In summary, I don't recommend using any of these three when going after the rocks. They seem to hurt your chances.

~Templar Kin

Try not fming with the pyrelord, I personally used ring of fire the first time and got the rocks after 20 Maples, using normal tinderbox.65.89.42.202 23:12, March 8, 2010 (UTC)

I used both ring and gloves and got mine within maybe 200-300 willows. Cheese KaBob799 06:40, March 9, 2010 (UTC)

It's just the chances of every players. Try using more maple logs, but I used 50 logs. The chances are random, but I don't think your level or Flame Gloves/Ring of Fire affects it.Spined helm Spineweilder Firemaking cape23:34, March 13, 2010 (UTC)

While wearing the ring of fire and flame gloves, I got the first rock with my first maple log (lucky Smile) and I got my second rock within the next two or three loads of maple logs. User:Lil diriz 77/Signatures 07:41, March 17, 2010 (UTC)

My strategy was to take a hatchet to an area with a lot of different trees (Seers Village) and cut all sorts of different logs (yews, maples, willows, oak, regular logs) filling up my inventory with a variety of logs. Then burning all the different logs. It seemed to get me my woodcutting and firemaking rocks quickly. Inferno adze Uncledano Sign | POH | Hiscores Construction 12:50, March 18, 2010 (UTC)

Anybody know when the "Next week" starts for this event?[]

Since Shattered Heart seems to be a weekly event, does anyone know when the "Week" for Shattered Heart starts? I know it's already on its second week, i'm over halfway into my second statue. Also, does anyone know if Ape Atoll can get stones? I spammed agility pyramid for my last one but I actually need agility experience...65.89.42.202 23:20, March 8, 2010 (UTC)

level drain helps?[]

I've used the blizzard to drain my levels , then potions to bring them up to the minimum required for the task i want to try. i do seem to get both rocks faster in some tasks when i do this, for example, making leather gloves got me both stones in a couple inventories worth of gloves.

i also seem to get faster rocks from my very high levelled skills, and my crafting is very high, so i'm not sure if i'm just imagining it

2nd Statue Rewards.[]

Seeing as this update was released on Wednesday, and it has been a week since this happened, has anybody yet been able to confirm that doing multiple statues give extra rewards (not the same reward over and over again, but improved rewards in each build)? I was lazy and so made my statue on Saturday, so it would be extremely nice to know if this is actually true or not. Woodcut. cape (t) EdTehMan Talk 03:18, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

  • You might already have found out, but adding pieces to the POH statue doesn't give any reward. BelovedNL 12:13, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
  • No, not THAT. I meant as if building multiple statues gave succeeding, better rewards per build. Say, the second statue would have given a 5k xp lamp, and the next would have given a 10k. This would have made sense, as having no other reward other than a replica statue for seven and a half months would have been a little boring, but based on the reactions for the second week of this, I don't believe this is true. I still have not found out for myself though, seeing as I still have to wait for 2 more days to do this. Woodcut. cape (t) EdTehMan Talk 02:16, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

Gold ore smithing BUG[]

I've discovered that i was unable to get rocks while smelting gold ore with a full inventory, I've smelted for 360k exp and didn't get a single rock. Until i get a random that forced me to deposit some bars and i got my first rock, this got me wondering so i decided to leave one spot open in my inventory the next few runs; I got my second rock within 2 more loads.

Can anyone confirm this? BelovedNL 09:09, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

Well I did get a rock from gold ore after about 1.5k bars, but it was my first inventory so I had open spots from where my varrock armor and goldsmithing gloves where. You should be able to get the rock with a full inventory of gold though, and if not it should be fixed soon. I really want to know how varrock armor smelting rock. Does it exclude double smelts or will it destroy both bars since done at same time? Bio 14:51, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

I just tried this. 5 loads of 28 gold ore, I got no rocks. Another 5 loads of 27 gold ore, I got both rocks.Greg bernath 01:23, March 25, 2010 (UTC)

Looking on the bright side...[]

These darn rocks are just too hard to get. I'm going to wait for someone else to tell me if there is a big reward. I get the feeling you just get to make the same statue over and over and over again at your house. There isn't necessarily some pot of gold at the end of this rainbow. Does anybody know if Jagex has promised some huge prize beyond the bonus xp you get for each rock? --Balton 18:05, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

As far as I know they haven't promised any reward, the statue might just be for showing off. Considering that it takes over half a year to get I bet most people would be really annoyed if it gave a good prize, espeically since they might not even start until they find out about the reward. I guess it's possible that theres a final reward but if there is it's probably something tiny. Cheese KaBob799 21:09, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

Farming Rock -> Sweetcorn?![]

Hey ppl - im actually doing the statue the 2nd time. The last rocks missing are the farming rocks... Well i already planted like 60 sweetcorn + 20 toadflax and got no rocks by now... Is there a significant difference between the chance of getting a rock while harvesting sweetcorn to other vegetables? I remember, last time I used onions and got the 2 stones within 3 or 4 runs. Any1 else got the same problems with sweetcorn or am i just not that lucky this time?

update of 15.03.2010[]

jagex changed some part of this content with the update of 15.03.2010. so what has changed?

  • various stones where achievable faster with the method to do the action one by one instead of using make-x option. has this been fixed?
  • the agility description now hints that completition of courses yields the stones. so is it worth to try the barb course instead of the low wall of the agility pyramid again?

I don't know about the make-x (though you can runecraft as you normally would without having to craft one essence at a time now), but it's very much worth it to just do laps at the best agility course you can use. I personally wasted 50 minutes at the agility pyramid low wall without a single rock, then went to extended barbarian course and got both rocks for about 15 laps. What about crafting? Would using 3 hides at a time be just as fast as 1 hide? --Madmarkx 20:35, March 20, 2010 (UTC)

Crafting Tiaras[]

If you make tiaras using a furnace, can you receive a rock?

  • i know you cant reciv\eve them while super heating becaus its mai and magic no a skill that gives them
  • Well since tiara's are made from silver and only gold jewellery gets you strange rocks, im afraid you can't get them. BelovedNL 13:40, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
Steady on: the KB says "include the following" not "only the following" unless it has been changed? Rich Farmbrough, 12:28 24 March 2010 (GMT).

23 March 2010 update[]

I don't see how you could have had two house statues? Rich Farmbrough, 12:28 24 March 2010 (GMT).

  • You could of had two studies, just like myself, one for an eagle lecturn and the other for a demon lecturn. RSN: Warthog Rhys Talk Completionist's cape... Coming soon. 23:21, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

I was making iron knives and got the message one had changed to a strange rock. The rock was on the floor. Anyone else seen this? I think its because it was in the first batch of 5 of an inv (4 showed afterwards) and the slot is not free because you still have 4 knives in place of the bar. Rich Farmbrough, 23:14 27 March 2010 (GMT).

I've been doing things that take three bars, but will try this one the next statue.--Degenret01 06:33, April 1, 2010 (UTC)
Fail test, sorry. I got the rocks midway through inventories. I'll keep doing this type of item though.--Degenret01 03:57, April 8, 2010 (UTC)

Finally, confirmed for you. Actually I did bolts but same thing right? Got it with first bar on 3rd load and there it was at my feet since I still had 9 bolts inventory taking the slot up.--Degenret01 10:45, April 18, 2010 (UTC)

Same thing just happened to me, got rock on first bar when making iron knives, rock was at my feet and only 4 knives in inventory.

Note comes up that something has happened to one of the knives just like when rock replaces a bow when fletching but in this case the rock is on the ground. Iamthem3tal
