[edit] Seperate

Should each rule have it's own page? I would prefer that. --Richard1990 00:10, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

nah. --X1011 23:49, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Bug abuse and macroing should have their own pages. Macroing and bug abuse has a big history. Rohtul Xel 20:35, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rule update info

I just updated Rules 7 and 9 in the guide to include the changes Jagex made to them. I also corrected a few spacing and boldfacing issues within the article to make it a bit more presentable. Would you like a pair of Ch1$lled Socks on your To1$sted Toes? 01:14, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Boyfriend/Girlfriend

I remeber talking to a staff mod several months ago about having a boyfriend/girlfriend and he said it was fine aslong as you kept it clean --Mrs Skilly 06:56, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

You're just not allowed to ask for one. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 07:27, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Examples Page

Would there be any call for a similar but seperate page to this which would list the rules along with examples of what would qualify as breaking each rule and what wouldn't? I would be happy to make one. Wralmex 19:48, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

It would be difficult since the public set of rules is pretty general about things, so there wouldn't be much to put on the page. I do like the idea though :P turtlecar1tvy0.gifRendovaturtlecar1tcopyiu3.gif 01:03, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Reporting

may only report once every 60 seconds, attempt more may result in custom support abuse,

loadingit0.giftalk

Or maybe just a little black message in your chatbox lol turtlecar1tvy0.gifRendovaturtlecar1tcopyiu3.gif 04:43, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Yup. That little bugger has, well, bugged me many times. 22px?Chiafriend12Steel-toes are sooo yesterday. 04:58, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

can report 2 players within 60 seconds time frame, as long as offences are not the same rule' broken, or a single person twice for different rules, although this isn't verified yet, just asked a player moderator loadingit0.giftalk

You see Phamtom, I was a player mod for over a year and Chisfriend is currently a moderator, and we're saying that since it's not possible to report more than once in 60 seconds, it's not against the rules. It's like claiming it's against the rules to use the hokey-pokey emote; it's not possible in the first place, so it's not against the rules. Now, as for reporting someone ~needlessly~, especially more than once (over, obviously, more than 60 seconds), that's customer support abuse. turtlecar1tvy0.gifRendovaturtlecar1tcopyiu3.gif 20:12, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

I thought mods had special reporting powers (is that confidential? soz X_X). FTWinston! talk Image:Salve amulet.PNG 23:58, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

I wouldn't know, I'm not a mod ;) turtlecar1tvy0.gifRendovaturtlecar1tcopyiu3.gif 00:05, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

From what I know (ie: what my source deemed was not confidential), mods can

  • right click on either text or the avatar of a player to report them for abuse (so their right click menu would read "walk here/trade/follow/report abuse"
  • report unlimited amounts per minute
  • apply a 48 hour mute to their reports

I think this is what you mean by special reporting powers? Mjc3 05:23, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] If I type Lyrics of A Song

Will that constitute chatbox flooding or advertising?122.53.90.203 11:55, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Neither. Don't worry about it :) turtlecar1tvy0.gifRendovaturtlecar1tcopyiu3.gif 03:21, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Abusive language

can people get reported if they say 'ur mum' or 'ya mum' in a 'bagging' way? Getunreal96 04:12, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

No, 'ur mum' or 'ya mum' alone is not offencive. Dr5ag2on1 04:14, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

== So uh. Who reads this then? ==Does JaGex even read them?' It is not our intention to set player-limits on what they trade. It is a player's own responsibility to make sure that they are paying a good price for an item. '- Rule 2. 83.166.175.41 15:33, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Rule 11

Anyone know if it is ok to ask for a player's time zone (GMT)? ex. player1: What is your time zone? --King x treme 03:27, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Personal details are considered to include full name, email addresses, instant messenger screen names/contact details, telephone numbers, your home/school address or age. I would say no, there is nothing harmful that can come from asking another player for their timezone.
P.S. Timezones are evil and should be abolished. Especially Daylight Savings Time (DST). Dtm142 00:05, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
Time zones are fine. As I recall, you can get right down to the county, although you'd want to make certain the context isn't malicious at all. And remember that if you are reported, even in private chat, everything you've said 1. in private with the reporting person, 2. in any and all clan chats, and 3. in all public, regardless to whether or not the reporter has seen it all; it will all show up in a report. I personally wouldn't get more specific than states or countries, although when asked ingame where I was from I would usually just say I'm from the Los Angeles area. :P turtlecar1tvy0.gifRendovaturtlecar1tcopyiu3.gif 20:40, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] On "offensive language" (#1) and reports...

I assume this means not just swear words, but general flaming as well. In this case this should definitely be mentioned in the page.

For example, earlier today I was in experiment cave and some arrogant level 100-something jerk commanded me to change worlds, whereupon I replied "make me". He told me to come to duel arena (I was level 72 at the time) and I made a few remarks about what I like to call level racism or "levelism" for short.

He then proceeded to call me "nerd" and "geek" several times, mostly, I suspect, because I, in contrast to him, did not write like a drunk 4-year-old. Would that be covered under rule 1 in a report?

Also- are reports actually handled by Jagex staff and/or mods? I've heard a rumor that reports are just counted and a player gets warned at #X, temp-banned at #Y and perm-banned at #Z...

Robhol 20:34, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

That would not be considered offensive language. The best thing to do in that scenario would be to use the ignore list and/or switch worlds. Jagex staff do read the abuse reports and the evidence to decide on the appropriate punishment. They do not simply count the reports, as players would be incorrectly banned if someone abused the report feature. Dtm142 21:06, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] wtf

Can things like wtf and ffs be reported because they are bad words or can onley being offencive and sexual things be reported?--Godpower49 22:21, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

I doubt it. Even if they can, I wouldn't advice against doing so; it's very commom and Jagex never do anything about it.--Pig HouseInane Ramblings 18:13, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Offensive Names?

What happens if a person has an offensive (Rasict) username? --King x treme 00:57, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

I think can be banned for the name, though i don't think it happens often. I remember somebody on the forums once complaining about how their level 106 (this was years ago. It was a very high level then) got banned because of the name. I don't know if they were telling the truth or not. File:Groundunicornhorn.PNG Evil Yanks talk 07:40, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] 3rd party software illegal again?

seems the revised rules make 3rd party software against the rules again and the pages for the guidelines on whats safe were removed67.191.93.216 20:20, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Merchanting clans

Where does it say that merchanting clans are against the rules? File:Disk of returning.PNG Revenant Hunter File:Disk of returning.PNG 13:56, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
