Talk:Ring of forging

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape

Dodgy rings from G.E? I just bought 108 of these rings, to smoth 15,000 Iron Bars, and well, the first ring I used has melted after 57 bars made, not the 140 this page suggests. Are you sure for definate that buying them resets them to 140, or does the G.E issue dodgy forging rings?

A second ring has yielded 140 uses, so I think they're fine now. But they were all bought from G.E. Sorry, hope I'm doing this right, this is my first discussion page.

Every player have their own 140, 140, 140 system from each ring of forging they use. If you buy a ring of forging from the G.E and never ever have used one before, you will have 140 uses with it even tough the previous owner may have used it maybe 65 times. This now means that next time he use a ring of forging, it will last 140 minus 65 times (75). If you've used a ring of forging before and stopped used it in the middle of the 140 uses, you will stuck on that number of uses, lets say 47 uses. This means that the next time you use ANY ring of forging, it will only let you make 140 minus 47 100% iron bars (93).

my ring gives me 140 uses, not 56. Why is this?

[edit] Bug/glitch with ring-switching

If you smet 139 iron ores with a ring of forging, then hi-alch your ring before it breaks (the amount obtained is 1,215 coins), you may only smelt one ore with the next ring before it breaks. I'm guessing that unlike teleportation jewellery, the ring's code is attached to an internal counter set to how many ores you smelted with a ring, regardless of how new the ring was.
