Changes to tone

Removing ess mining was not the "only way to earn money" as a F2Per. Yes, introducing pure essence did kill off a significant source of revenue for F2Pers, and it also killed off a whole lot of 'bots who earned money from selling ess as well. But it wasn't as huge of a problem as was indicated here.
In addition, all rune essence in all member accounts was converted to pure essence when the switch happened. The only people significantly affected financially in the switch were people with F2P accounts (including former members) that had accumlulated significant quantities of normal rune essence with the intention of selling to markets, or use if they reactivated their accounts. IMHO, Jagex should have simply substituted all ess in all worlds and accounts with pure essence when the switch occured, but that is a political opinion and not something appropriate on this page. --Robert Horning 16:50, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- I agree this would have been the fair way to do it... but Jagex don't think a lot before releasing their updates, they think after (in fact, they ask their members to think for them), so it's OK when changes can be modified (like the GE and unbalanced trade), but it's a pity when they can't (like these essences).

Pure ess for F2P? Edit
I've ended my P2P yesterday, and I noticed that unlike the previous times I was F2P, pure essence doesn't appear as "member object" anymore, but as "pure essence"... maybe a hidden update towards putting back some kind of pure ess mining for F2P ? (I tried mining some, I still got "normal" rune ess).

- Pure essence can only be obtained on members servers, though the object itself isn't members only. It's a bit like trimmed armour. --Drummer (speak) 18:45, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Price Edit
October 2007 - I bought 10 000 pure essence → 750 000
Macro's gone
April 2008 - I bought 10 000 pure essence → 1 610 000
Make use of Summoning, Beast of Burden, rune pouches.
You could sell them in the GE for a price drop..

Time taken to mine pure essence Edit
I've cleaned up the section on how long it takes to mine 1k pure essence, but I'm not sure if the time given (50.8 seconds per 28 essence) includes time for banking. Could someone please clarify this? immibis 06:05, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
- It is unlikely to include time for banking because of the different range of factors such as your own distance from mining the ess to the exit portal, which mining location you are at, what your agility is (run) etc. -- Mercifull (Talk) 10:04, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
Just checked, it's about 111.66 seconds to mine and bank pure essence.
Low level players only Edit
It seems like the article's authors are quite stuck on the idea only low levels mine pure ess. I see level 90s+ mining pure ess more than anyone below 50. Dsctatom 14:38, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

level 100+ mining pure ess Edit
I would have to agree with Mercifull on how this articles authors are targeting this on the subject that Low levels mine pure ess. High levels mine pure ess because it's a quick and easy way to earn money really fast in RS. When i used to be a F2P (i became a member about a week ago), i also saw level 100 freebies mining rune ess. So basically if you mine rune or pure ess, ur not a noob

Runes Craftable Edit
I dont know what the answer here is, but i think there should be mention of what runes you need pure essence to craft, or at what level it becomes useful..
Prices: The price of essence is dropping like crazy due to the fact that theres too much of it. Think about it, 200,000 people on a day, 2,000 or more people mining it for a while, = LOTS OF EXTRA ESSENCE. Offer and demand, lots of essence, nobody wants, little essence EVERYBODY wants.
Connotations Edit
The word "claimed" tends to imply that what is being stated is not actually believed by the person stating it. While Jagex might have been proven wrong (not uncommon), there's no reason to think they did not actually believe the reasons they were giving at the time. No ulterior motive warranting the use of "claimed" is suggested in the paragraph, so I am taking the liberty of changing that to the more neutral "stated".

my mining and banking time is average 1 minute and 25 seconds. o yea and my mining lvl is 63 just fyi.
Anyone know if the speed changes for mining between Rune, and Dragon Picks?

In case anyone hasnt noticed, several refences to pure essence have been changed to huge numbers. Fix plz! =) (they may already have been at the time you are reading this.)

Botters Edit
Adding a section on how to stop people from botting pure essence is pointless and stupid. Noone would come to this page looking for help on how to stop maybe 3 or 4 botters, this page is for information on the item called Pure Essence. The section on botting contains irrelevant information that noone wants to read, not to mention almost certainly outdated and ineffective tips. I say we remove it.

pure essense
recently i noted yesterday that pure essense is avalaible to f2f players! but idont know if u could mine it or not
- It's tradable on f2p worlds, but they can't mine it. I'm not sure if they can craft it...
