I'm curious how mining granite and sandstone for training only works at high levels, when you can mine granite when you are level 45 and sandstone when you are only 35. Wrathanet 21:33, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

I think it's because, at those levels, mining sandstone and granite would be very slow, providing very slow experience. Butterman62 (talk) 21:36, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

further, the higher level you are, the greater amount of heavier granite and sandstone you recieve, although that is a secondary cause, the primary being that of speed. It is like iron is inefficient for fast exp before you start "one hitting" iron regularly. --Tortilliachp 04:44, December 25, 2009 (UTC)

Living Rock caverns Edit

first impressions are that gold mining here is very good xp and decent money, I got around 40k xp per hour with a rune pick at 85 mining, can anyone confirm the xp rate? 217.44.200.246 19:23, September 18, 2009 (UTC)

values of 40-65k xp per hour were the claimed values given to me on world 84 while mining there, depending on mining level, use of familiar and use of the dragon pickaxe or not. --Tortilliachp 04:44, December 25, 2009 (UTC)

What happened to the mining for exp section? Edit

I see nothing about crossmining granite/sandstone anymore, and it now says gold is the best exp past 75. Not concentrated veins mind you, but just plain gold. This is wildly inaccurate information.

I'd rehaul it, but I don't have recent figures on the exp rates for concentrated veins at lower levels (80 to ~90) so I'm not sure when it would be beneficial to switch to them, from iron/quarry mining. Mouse Keys Edit

Under the 65-80 "Mining for Experience" heading it says "Power mining Granite at the Granite Quarry results in fast experience per hour ranging up to 60k per hour with Mouse keys, and to as low as 40k per hour dropping Granite."

This gives no explanation as to what Mouse Keys are, or how they benefit you. I know what mouse keys are myself, but I don't see how they can help me to get faster experience. Could anyone who knows what this technique is, add it please? 92.11.154.125 12:34, April 2, 2010 (UTC)

It's basically a way to train a skill AFK, (which would be against Jagex rules), but can also be used to save yourself from mouse-clicking and repetitive motion damage, even if you're right there at the keyboard. That it may actually be faster XP than using the mouse is a bonus. --208.83.126.102 15:58, July 7, 2010 (UTC)

That section alone seems to be inaccurate or based on level 80. At level 69, I can only get an average of 565 exp a minute, which is ~34k an hour. Dsctatom 06:30, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

Penance Horn + Varrock armour Edit

I just tryed it and you realy get double xp for both rocks, mined by the special effect of the varrock armour. F.ex I got 380xp from 1 addy rock, and 200xp from 1 coal rock (when mined 2 rocks at once, while wilding the penance master horn). Regards - Col

use skill necklace to craft guild Edit

That's it really.

Use the skill necklaces to teleport to the Crafting guild. They are faster and less fiddly than balloon travel *remember yr brown apron! Use duel ring for baking at Moblising Armies as usual.

Skill necklaces teles to cook guild (close to varrock, ge ), fish guild (close to farm patch ) craft guild and mining guild ( close-ish ) to Falador east bank.

Skill necklaces are a truly useful thing!

Gem Mining? Edit

Some of my clanmates think Gem mining, especially in the resource dungeon, is faster and more profitable than gold mining. There is zero information on this page about gem mining which can be really useful for people cross training skills as well. Might be helpful to add a section on it.
