An anonymous poster inserted a statement alleging that people were buying up maple logs in advance of a soon-to-be-released update that would use them "extensively," and that prices were expected to "soar" as a result. I find nothing on Runescape mentioning such an update, and the current GE price of the item is flat-to-dropping. I believe this was an attempt to plant false information in the Wiki in order to manipulate the price of maple logs on the GE. If someone has different information and wishes to post a link to the information on the Runescape site supporting this claim, I'll be glad to apologize. However, if the claim is made again without some evidence to support it, I'm going to report it as vandalism.

So from 45-99 firemaking:
Almost 2x the amount of willows
Willows 18gp Maples 36gp Maples 135xp Willows 67.5xp
Maples .26667gp/xp Willows .2666667gp/xp
Same cost, MAPLES ARE BETTER
Maple logs will probably fluctuate to up to 38 each. The speed will still be worth the 2 extra gp/log. That would only be .28gp/xp
Anyway, this would cost ~3460K

- Same cost per experience point, yes, which comes down to the same thing. Sorry, using proper units is a peeve of mine... Looks like maples are lots faster than willows, you're right! :D 126.96.36.199 08:09, 17 February 2009 (UTC)
What units would you like me to use? I was about to do f2p cooking next. Only taking into account Tuna, Lobsters, & Swordfish all from the GE buying & selling at market price.

Fming Exp?EditWhy doesn't this page list the requirement to burn maple logs? It needs the info....--

As I've been leveling up, I seem to gain more firemaking exp when using maple logs on bonfines. I read somewhere that maple bonfire exp depends on your level, I think this needs to be added to the page. 188.8.131.52 01:06, March 17, 2013 (UTC)VColdAir
Rising Price Edit
Anyone know why the price has been rising so rapidly the past month? Dux bell0rum 18:08, March 20, 2011 (UTC)
"The 1st February 2011 free trade update caused the amount of bots to increase, in turn causing the efficiency of gathering logs to decrease per player. This sudden decrease of supply increased the price of maple logs to over 90 coins."
I can appreciate that someone tried to explain a price increase in the wake of the free trade update, but this is frighteningly incorrect. As a rule, if a resource is botted heavily, the supply always goes up. I'm not sure myself, but I would guess that demand for maple logs (for fletching) increased even faster than the supply.
The table below is the materials obtained, based on 1000 samples of maple logs disassembled.
I just dissembled 5,000 maple logs and got the following results.
I have junk chance reduction 2. For a level 45 item that takes the junk chance from 50.5% to 49%. So from my test the base junk chance for maple logs is 47%. I believe 5,000 logs is a good sample size so I'm going to change the value on the main page. Hoppingmad9 (talk) 19:52, May 15, 2016 (UTC )
- EDIT: I won't change it yet as this would require changing the whole dissembly template but this does need discussing. Hoppingmad9 (talk) 20:02, May 15, 2016 (UTC)
- 5000 isn't good enough. But please see User:Gaz Lloyd/Disassembly. We're not adding individual rates per item. We're doing it by category. MolMan 20:03, May 15, 2016 (UTC)
- Will do. Thanks! Hoppingmad9 (talk) 20:12, May 15, 2016 (UTC)
