What's the use of degrading to dust[]

I always wondered and couldn't find an answer yet: Why in the freakin world... Would anyone... anyone spend their loads of money into something that turns into dust...? How would ever someone with a healthy state of mind even consider breathing the spark of the idea of even putting a single cent into more than overly ridicilous expensive armour that will degrade... TO DUST.

I mean... There really isn't someone, right? I never got the idea. I understand for breaking armour so that not too many people will overload the armours with prices causing it to drop. But at least you have something permanently even though it simply requires repair at a certain point (which isn't expensive considering if you can already buy it). I just never could even spend money into something that degrades to nothing, dust, vaporise, air... whatever you may call it. Even if I had 2,147,483,647 max piles of 2,147,483,647 coins, I would never consider buying it, because it is a complete waste of cash and time.

What happens if you are in the middle of a boss battle and all of a sudden you get to fight Vorago or the Six Barrows Brother bare naked? If someone could enlight me on this situation, I might get a better idea of why... But, currently trying to solve this for myself for about half an hour already, I just can't rationalize the idea that someone would even consider this. --JorisCeoen 21:45, May 6, 2014 (UTC)

First of all, it's possible to use the armour and make enough money to cover the cost of new armour before it degrades into dust, and second, you can tell how damaged your armour is and you'd have to be quite stupid if you were going to fight Vorago or the Barrows Brothers knowing that your armour is about to break This is AzzanadraEnixus 15:25, May 7, 2014 (UTC)

I see that many people have this point of view. That there is no place for such expensive armour, if it turns into dusts after some time. I'm personally F2p and I'm not likely to purchase mem in few months, Didn't even have chance to use any equipment of such type, but there is actually reason they are degrading. Imagine if there would be lvl 90 armour that wouldnt degrade, or atleast be repairable. Then people who get these items as drops at some point will provide so many items that price will fall dramatically. If everyone has set that doesnt degrade, who would buy these items at all? Consider this armour like firearms. You always need to use bullets, but your handgun doesn't get destroyed. But there is also some grenates which are way more effective at doing harm. At some point you will value effectiveness over cost. And also its bad idea to have "Ultimate equipment" which doesnt degrade. Because then there will be less purpose in a bit weaker equipment. In my personal opinion jagex made new lvl 90 armours degrade to dust so there would be some use for torva and tetsu tier armours. Think of how prices could change just because there is better alternative of equipment that has no flaws. Armanbai 19:40, May 8, 2014 (UTC)
