i'm pretty sure they arent tradeable —24.111.164.146 (talk • contribs) forgot to sign this comment on 2007-06-26T08:55:54.
the 4.5 percent is wrong. when you cut a magic log, you get 256 xp, the 6 xp being a 2.4 percent increase. the actually xp might actually be 256.x, but it still isn't 4.5 percent. —24.231.189.131 (talk • contribs) forgot to sign this comment on 2007-12-26T19:37:12.

[edit] Equally probable - NOT
Mod Sallyd can say whatever she likes, but I've been trying to get a top for hours and I know perfectly well it's rarer than the other parts. She doesn't know what she's talking about, and I've told her so on the forums. Thezmothete 16:16, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
- A Jagex mod doesn't know about part of the game her company runs? ...okay...WWTDD? 16:18, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'm willing to stick with Mod Sallyd. Until she (or another) Jagex mod states otherwise, she has made the only official statement on the rareness of the top.

- WWTDD, have you actually tried to get a top? Gaz_Lloyd, I saw your posting; you appear to have had a grand total of eight lumberjack events. I have had over 100. You got a top quickly; that does not mean they are equally likely; it means you were lucky. Official statements be damned; her statement does not coincide with actual experience, mine or that of many other posters on that thread. Thezmothete 22:55, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
- I think those people just got a bad break. WWTDD? 22:56, 18 January 2009 (UTC)

Correct, Mod Sallyd does not know the stats. This is my current count (not counting items dropped for space):
- Lumberjack hat - 15
- Lumberjack top - 1
- Lumberjack legs - 7
- Lumberjack boots - 13
Now, I don't have a PhD in math or programming, but feel pretty secure saying that's not even close to even. (Just got the top, btw. Woot!) Mamabear47 09:02, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
[edit] NOT EQUAL!!
Just confirming that the top is rare. I have 17 Boots, 5 hats, 4 bottoms and no top! 0 tops in 26 events? yeah that's even : )
- Strange... I have a full set, and I recall getting the top first.

- Not equal. 11 boots, 4 pants, 2 hats, 1 top.
- I have collected the following so far 16 boots, 8 hats, 1 bottom, and 2 hats, excluding any boots and hats i may have dropped. The only reason I have gotten 2 tops so far is because I died and lost the set, and am currently in the process of getting a replacement top and bottom. Kyzza1 Talk 06:02, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Some scientific evidence
I've carried out an experiment to see if tops are as likely as other pieces. The results were unexpected. To summarize, the drops are not entirely random; at some point, probably once the player has gathered all four pieces, no more clothing is dropped. I'm not sure about the top. It was rare under these circumstances. That may mean it's inherently rare, but it may also mean that you're more likely to get pieces you already have, and that pieces you don't have at all are rare. Another experiment would shed light on that, and I'll probably do one at some point, but for now I'm going to go cut a lot of wood :) Thezmothete 11:26, 27 January 2009 (UTC)
- Having said that last part about the pieces being more likely if you already have them...does that mean dropping all but one of your boots will make the boots drop less likely? I think I'm going to try that, I have about 10 boots and 3 hats. I'll drop all but one and see if I get other pieces. Nuclear X2 16:55, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Trick to Getting Last Piece?
I also had a major trouble getting the last piece, being the lumberjack top (some people have trouble getting the leg piece). Then I found a post suggesting a way to get them quickly (QFC: 74-75-254-58324903, Page 2 by Powerbunny1), and the thread starter got it within 4 tries using his trick. I did it the same way, and I also got it in 3 tries (with the first 2 giving me the relatively semi-rare leg pieces). I wonder if this would apply to everyone else and may be included into the article? Red X 226 10:42, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- That technique is rubbish. If you got it after doing it then it was pure luck. I tried that method for days with nothing to show for it. The fastest way is just to take the hardest person through route 1 (easy) and just skip all combat events. When I swapped to using this methof for temple trekking i got all the pieces within a few hours. --
Mercifull (Talk) 12:39, 4 February 2009 (UTC)
- It says that topic no longer exists, could you please describe the technique? Nuclear X2 17:10, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- There is no technique. As Mercifull said, you just play the game using the easy route and skip all events until you get the lumberjack event, and then you kill the lumberjacks until you get a piece of the set. There is no "technique" to receiving a drop; it's based on luck.

- Ok I understand. Dang that got my hopes up :P Nuclear X2 18:26, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- Having read this thread, I was panicking about this being too difficult, but in 6 drops I got boots, hat, boots, hat, top then legs. It probably made no difference, but once I had three pieces, I wore them all, and the very next drop I got was the final one I needed. Anyway, my real question is: given that they are untradeable, is there any point in keeping spare pieces of this outfit, or should they just be dropped? Degsy99 17:09, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Lumberjack or Seer's Headband?
Lumberjack gives a bonus. Seers' headband 3 gives a bonus on maples. What's the better bonus? I'd say Seer's for maples, but for other? Mamabear47 09:04, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- Since the seers' headband bonus only applies to maple trees, any other tree gets a better bonus with full lumberjack (since there aren't any other bonuses to experience). The exception may be normal trees as seers' headband allows 2 or 3 logs to be cut from one tree, increasing experience rate drastically (less moving to new trees therefore less time spent moving).
Gaz Lloyd Calcs!Awesome 20:14, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- Lumberjack is better because maple trees are already horrible for training and should not be chopped in the first place. If you were chopping maples, though, which you shouldn't, then obviously a 10% boost is superior to a 2.5% boost, but as I said, you should not be training on maples. They're terrible xp and terrible cash and basically terrible everything. Same with normal logs. --troacctid 21:58, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
- A good idea to cut maples is using seers' headband AND the lumberjack top, legs and boots, giving a total of 11.6% boost, although you should cut willows or teaks for experience with the lumberjack set 2.5% boost or using the lumberjack set on yews/magic/eucalyptus trees for money.

[edit] Second set
Can anyone confirm the possibility or impossibility to get a drop when you allready have a full set in your bank or house? I've had the event two times since I've obtained the last part of my first set. Both times I've killed over a hundred undead lumberjack, but no drop. The first time I had my set in the bank, the second in my house. --Tharkon 19:40, September 22, 2009 (UTC)
