Weakness[]

i have been killing them for quite some time now, and i think that crush attacks are better then slash attacks on them, am i right? or am i completely wrong?

I agree with you. Killing them with crush is effective mostly because crush weapons have high strength bonuses. A barrelchest anchor is very effective. I advise killing them with heavy weaponry, godswords if you have one. Stabbing them is a bad idea overall.

Kuradal stated that crush would be good to use against them, not qualifying it with a particular type (there is a discrepency among. This possible error may come from the popular slashing weapons that people use.ledzepmtg in most reference frames 01:13, June 18, 2010 (UTC)

I am not sure if this is an isolated instance or not, but I have been killing them with Guthans. I have been killing the strikers with crush for a while and I had only recently reverted to slash after a trek through Daemonheim. I found that I hit higher and more often with slash than crush on the strikers, but I have yet to test it on the protectors. Let me test it on another striker now, then a protector... I am noticing higher hits. One moment... It's difficult to say, I do tend to hit more on slash. I'll leave it to someone else to make the decision. Levy Wilson 17:35, August 1, 2010 (UTC)

If you have a chaotic rapier by all means use it here, it is just as if not more effective than whip/ss when using stab.14:28, December 17, 2010 (UTC)

Hitting through prayer??[]

It is very unlikely this monster can hit through prayer. It is more likely this is caused by a prayer glitch.-- Ruderion (Talk) Farming cape (t) 15:20, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

I removed the dispute tag and the sentence ragrding that. Dude just has to be faster on turning pray on.--Degenret01 13:45, December 4, 2009 (UTC)

smash emm[]

i have been smashing a lont time and i tend to hit more than slash.you can hit emm fore good numbers but the ss def smash

ops soz i foregot to sign it --92.41.129.88 13:10, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

It makes sense, seeing as how rocks would be more vulnerable to crushing attacks than slashing/stabbing. ASATO MA SAD GAMAYA 13:12, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

yer but i dont no y but slash is as good as smash --92.41.129.88 13:14, November 8, 2009 (UTC)

stab seems best there chaotic rapier pwns

I don't know where you get the idea that stab or slash are more effective than crush against these monsters. Living rocks are weakest to crush, and Kuradal even says so when she gives advice. Remember that a monster's weakness is, by definition, the type of attack it has the lowest defence against. Therefore, the primary weakness is crush. The secondary weakness may be slash, but that has not been proven. Living rocks might be weaker to range or mage than they are to slash. For now, let's leave the weakness at crush only. The problem is the lack of a quality crush weapon. The Zamorakian Spear has a Crush bonus of 65 and a Strength bonus of 75 where as a combo of Vine Whip and Dragon Defender have a Slash bonus of 110 and a Strength bonus of 90. I used these two weapons given there respective gear level, weapon speed, and ease of aquisition. Given a outfit of Bandos, Dragon Boots, Soul Wars cape and Culinaromancer's Gloves 10 that ends up 87 crush and 103 Strength versus 132 Slash and 118 Strength. So while it may be that these are weak to crush, the bonuses given by gear may actually make the LRCs easier to kill using a different fighting style. This is why people tend to say it's more effective to go with a whip than with a crush weapon. That's also not counting in factors like the players actual Attack and Strengh levels are. If your natually low on Attack then you may see a larger difference than someone who is +90 Attack. Like always YMMV. Quest Darrik Ash US serv HS ALDarklight detail 18:52, May 28, 2012 (UTC)

Rare Drop Table[]

I don't think this is valid for this monster. I don't recall ever receiving a rare drop from strikers (or other living rock creatures.) I've been wrong before, though.... Sanctumanon 10:24, August 13, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah I've never received an effigy off them either. The drop tables are wrong for sure.

I can confirm for a fact that they drop ancient effigies. Suppa chuppa Talk 04:19, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
Porbably not needed but I can confirm that too :)! Deadlyaznboy 22:02, January 16, 2012 (UTC)

Since I don't know how to do it, I'll leave this here:

Killing strikers, as well as protectors, gives 605 combined experience now. 100 goes to slayer, 305 goes to the offensive style you were using, and 200 goes to life points.

So, just killed one, and he dropped bones.  No one else was anywhere near, and his corpse did not stick around to be mined.  Hasn't happened again.

Glitch, perhaps? http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/blaze_fire12/RuneScape%20Wiki%20Images/Blaze_fire.pnghttp://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg244/blaze_fire12/RuneScape%20Wiki%20Images/12.png 04:21, February 25, 2013 (UTC)
