[edit] Table of First 99s

If, within that table of first 99s, we include the first guy with all melee 99s, shouldn't we note Gearshifter being the first to reach max combat level? Ctth 06:09, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Maybe I'm just cynical...

...But I think this is just a way to admire some of the newer maxed out players.

I feel that names should not be listed, because:
1. All players deserve the right to privacy.
2. It's already irritating to hear "Darkforest this, Thehate that" and I'm sure visitors want to be spared that.
Cool Spy0 20:09, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Again, I reiterate my point that the Runescape public hiscores are public, we are only re-reporting that content. And as for admiring newer maxed out players...well, only the first to each skill is being mentioned, so there's really no glory being given to newer players especially. But is it a useless section? There's an argument for that, but I don't see the real harm in recording RS history. Endasil 04:39, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

OK, the recent influx of names being added to this list makes it clear that the list should not be there. This list was NOT intended to be our "list of admiration." Listing Zezima makes no sense because there are a whole bunch (8) of players with maxed out skills. I vote for either reverting, or deleting, this section. Please leave your comments. OK, I've cleaned up the trivia section. We should not be recording "the latest and greatest," as this changes a lot and is really not that relevant to this specific page. This page is not about hiscores. Also, I don't think we should be recording who has all maxed out skills, or the first to reach them. This is still open to discussion, but the changes have been made Endasil (Talk) @ 14:36, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Update, and Trends

Hey, I updated the table (March 4, 2007) to reflect the newest hiscores. If you're wondering the best way to do this (short of finding/building a script), I basically do a binary search in the hiscores by rank. For example, if the old value was say 1000, you could search for 1200. If all the hiscores shown then are 99, search for say 2000, and keep going until you have a screen where there are no 99s. Then search for the midpoint, 1600, then 1400, then 1200, until you close in on a page which has the split between 99/98. Take the rank of the last 99 listed, that's how many 99's there are. Of course, you could figure this all out on your own, I'm just rambling.

For those interested, I did up a quick Excel sheet comparing trends from the last set of data and the new set, and converted it to a Wiki table using this script. The second and third columns are the old and new data. The fourth column is the percentage increase in the number of 99s since the last set of data, and the last column is the difference between the increase and the average increase of 99s. Enjoy, I found it kind of interesting. If anyone wants the Excel doc, just ask, but I'm sure anyone would be able to make it on their own in less time.

Great work; I added the number of increase in the last column. It gives me a more concrete idea of which skills players are actually working on to increase their levels to 99. Chrislee33 08:12, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] quest skillcape!

you recognize all the players that have skill capes the first to get but what about the ones that have quest skillcape? i would honestly like to know how many players share the skill cape with me! 138.162.140.52 (talkcontribs) forgot to sign this comment 02:20, 19 January 2008.

Impossible. We can only tell the number of players with skill capes of achievement by looking at the Highscores. Quest points do not show up in the Highscores, therefore we cannot tell who has a quest cape of achievement.

[edit] Some Citations Would Be Excellent

I'd like to see some citations of the "Notes" on this article. Anyone game to produce 'em? Planeshifted 21:58, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Removal of "First Players" section

I fail to see where consensus was reached to remove this section from this article. It can still be found in this historic version of this page but is no longer in this article. I believe this to be a loss to this wiki.

I also fail to see how the opinion of an unnammed "admin" has any weight over any other user or how that gives anybody extra permission to delete content without discussing it.

Barring any major objections or reasonable justification for its removal, I'll put this table back into this article after giving a reasonable chance for those who want this removed to reply here on this talk page. --Robert Horning 13:58, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

I agree, there should be a consensus before any change like that is made on the article.  C Teng talk 14:27, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Yay! The section is back... I was so shocked when it was removed. Image:Baby_chameleon.gifAz TlkEdtCtrb    05:54, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
