Easter Egg[]

When you use the mithril bar on the key mould, your character will shout out: "Seriously? What's the point in living in a magical world when rubbing two things together doesn't solve the problem?" 137.224.227.177 10:07, June 29, 2015 (UTC)

Adamant Dragon?[]

I did not encounter an adamant dragon at all in this quest. I fought a mithril dragon upon entering the door requiring the mithril key. Did anyone else experience this? 98.14.181.129 06:35, June 30, 2015 (UTC)

I fought an addy dragon, not a mithril. Maybe it's a bug or maybe it's related to your combat level. Did you report it as a bug? Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) 07:17, June 30, 2015 (UTC)
I fought a steel dragon. It might be related to your combat level.Rafe62 (talk) 18:07, June 30, 2015 (UTC)
Maybe we should make a table that people can edit, so we can say precisely what the player will encounter. My contribution: 95 Combat, encountered an Iron Dragon. Zeta12ti (talk) 12:06, November 9, 2015 (UTC)

Dragonfire[]

In the reccomended items section, should we point out that the player will need protection from fire?RsCyan (talk) 16:45, June 30, 2015 (UTC)

Remaining Unknown Story References[]

  • "I ask you; what kind of 'ultimate' monster has a heart OUTSIDE its chest?" Possible reference to Davy Jones (Pirates of the Carribean) or to The Heartless (Kingdom Hearts).
  • "At that point someone told me that it wasn't a real murder, but an open-air performance of a play. I'll never live that one down."
  • "And then when I got outside, neither he nor the two-headed drunkard came to fight me! What cheek!" Possible reference to Hitchhiker's Guide, but too unsure.
  • "So I threw him through the translator's pulpit and held him down until they presented me with the belt of champions!"
  • "That was when he lit his pipe and told me that he'd known EXACTLY who I was from the start. He'd not needed my help to find the killer at all." Maybe Sherlock Holmes?
  • "But in the end, some sneaky coward floated under the bridge and stabbed me in the foot with a spear! I had to feign death so I didn't give my powers away."
  • "Then that scarf-wearing trickster jumped in his magic outhouse and rode away with my spare helmet!" Possibly Dr Who, but I feel like that's unlikely.
  • "But when I arrived, a minstrel and his ninja sidekick had caused them to fall in love and fly away. The concert afterwards was worth it, though."
  • "No, I tell a lie; I really can't remember the 60's after all. It was a crazy, crazy time. You're better off asking Marimbo what happened."

Anyone who would like to confirm/determine/claim these, be my guest. Spent an hour listening to his stories, for an attempt at a complete list, so if I'm missing a few, I apologize. Trunkuza (talk) 11:28, July 1, 2015 (UTC)

Subjective Difficulty[]

Suggestion: Remove or qualify the beast of burden recommendation under Apotheosis.

I found that this quest guide made the combat out to be much more challenging than it actually was. At combat level 120 I was able to defeat the Abomination wearing a full Karil's set including Karil's crossbow and plenty bolt racks (not forgetting the protective charm) and average gear for the remaining slots. As a precaution I got myself a bonfire boost and took a dose of antifire and super defence. I filled my inventory with rocktails but did not take a beast of burden. Having read up on the mechanics of the Abomination fight, most of the damage I was taking was mainly due to my inexperience (e.g. standing in damage zones). Most of the damage inflicted was environmental (quite relevant to the second phase) making a simple revolution setup more than enough for chipping away that extra bit of health. At the end of the whole fight, I had only consumed 8 rocktails in total.

tl;dr - The recommendation for an inventory and a beast of burden full of food makes the Abomination fight sound a lot more difficult than it ended up being for me. With the protective charm the damage taken is significantly less than a full inventory of food can recover, if one understands the mechanics of the fight.

What you're saying makes sense, but you also have to take into consideration other players who might be more inexperienced at combat, in general. The Abomination's attacks deal anywhere from 1500-10000 points of damage, should a player forget to equip the charm. The monster's 180-degree fireball attack alone does high burn damage, followed by the smash damages which can do about 500-2000 damage, followed by the pelting rocks, and so on. And this is only Phase One.
There are a lot of mechanics to follow, and not everyone is good at that. Also, the BoB is only suggested, and is not mandatory. However, I agree that the wording makes it look like the fight is more challenging than it is, so I'll go ahead and change the wording. Alchez 09:41, October 1, 2015 (UTC)

If you get stunned on phase 2 you are going to take a ton of damage. You will also get re-stunned if you don't get free. A yak and an inventory of rocktails is enough (just) to take the abomination out despite the stunning for maxed players with suitable gear. Rich Farmbrough, 20:12 19 December 2015 (UTC).

Dragonkin fire[]

Has anyone tried the anti-wyvern fire protection against this? Rich Farmbrough, 19:48 19 December 2015 (UTC).

No - Magic does not exist.[]

Great quest option or the greatest quest option? Of course since it just get looped back around and never commented on directly it's only funny as a self contained point of absurdity. Still made me laugh hard enough to fall out of my chair though.Joats (talk) 22:01, December 17, 2016 (UTC)

Tarshak killable by rocks[]

in as far as that sentence is meant for the quest battle, it is wrong: "Once Tarshak reaches 150 LP, he will no longer take damage from falling rocks, and you must deal the final blow yourself."

at combat level 106 it took me 4 trips to learn what i was doing and i wound up wearing full bandos and having a spirit-terrorbird with only sharks in the inventory in the end. trip 4 ended with half a load of sharks and tarshak dead just as i thought i knew what i was doing. so, yeah, killable by rocks.. 95.91.8.98 16:39, February 6, 2017 (UTC)Zantos
