AcknowledgementsEdit

  • Megalodon99 was helpful by putting up a sandbox for all missing quest walkthroughs and in creating the initial quest summary.
  • Eucarya was instrumental in learning me the art of map making. Without maps the walkthrough would be much less clear.
  • Whiplash tricked me into doing the quest and pointed out that the ghost battle wasnt easy. Spend some time analysing why some players have more difficulty than others.
  • The remaining text, errors and oversights are all mine. I'll be adding more images in the next few days. --Miw 00:42, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

To doEdit

  • upload trackmaps
  • upload quest complete image
  • upload miscellaneous quest pictures
  • improve the text in cave level 4

--Miw 00:54, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

DoneEdit

Completed the upload of images and a final review of the text. Cant think of more to add to the walkthrough. It has the linear action list to complete the quest as well as some text to help players to correct some plausible mistakes. --Miw 10:52, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

More recommeded itemsEdit

You are going through Morytana swamps, right? Some druid pouches would be of use if you have comepleted Nature Spirit. With those you won't have to worry about ghasts rotting your food, but they are not necassary... --66.188.230.197 01:40, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Items needed?Edit

I just beat this quest, and I didn't need a ball of wool? 220.253.86.141 10:18, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Too many cart track pictures? Edit

Not sure we need all 3 pictures of the cart track map layout... I've left them all in anyway.

Regarding above question, I've mentioned that the wool is only recommended.

On a side note I hate the boss of this quest, it is much harder than "combat 95" suggests! Minish Man 21:31, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

boss fight Edit

I tried fighting the boss once using ranged and i got owned (my ranged is 52, yes i know its low). the constant dmg from the flying pickaxes was too much (might have also been that his first teleport was in a corner that was too far away from my position) and i had to bail. any suggestions? My mage is 62 btw Death reap 17:56, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Seer's Headband Edit

With the update to the Seer's Headband the come with a built in light source can you use this to go through the caves?(Airhead91 20:40, 19 February 2009 (UTC))

  • er...you don't need a light source...Avispar 14:40, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
The cave is only illuminated with the fungus. no other light source works. (Haunted Mine was released before darkness was invented.) JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 17:39, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

What is so hard about this?? Edit

Seriously, I beat the boss so easily and I'm combat 97..... I barely needed any food for the fight and it took about 90 seconds >_> It's nothing compared to the boss in Contact! where you have to fight the boss who has high defence while being slaughtered on all three points of the combat triangle by its minions. Avispar 14:41, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Are you kidding me? The boss in Contact! is so easy. Just wear Black d'hide armour with a weapon that can stab (Zamorakian Spear, etc.). In this case, I used a Leaf-Bladed Sword and a Super Attack Potion. I took minimal damage with Protect from Melee and I killed the boss in around 30 seconds. This boss is very difficult. Some moron also edited the boss guide so it read that the mine cart did rapid 4's when it really did rapid 70-90's.

Good to know...i am level 106 and am on my to do it right now.

The part about only getting one hit in isn't true. On the first attack I was able to land a dragon dagger special and then stab him again before he moved. Then once his health was down to somewhere around half, he stood in one spot long enough for me to whip him to death.

the boss from contact is MUCH easier then this.does the giant scarab have minions ?

Pfeh Edit

I went down there with only a D Scimitar, Seers Headband 2 and an inventoryful of monkfish, being 79 combat level.

And I now am a proud owner of 19 Salve Amulets.

What you wrote there about difficulty is a load of paranoia, LIES and such.

Boss is a lot easier than the guide suggests, beat at level 89 with no food and 70 combat stats. 217.44.13.210

Helm of Neitiznot, Rune plater body/legs and kite,D scim,6 sharks, protect from range,67 Atk, 70 str, 55 def. I didn't beat it with too much trouble so i doubt a 90 main with full invent of food would have a hard time.--Moneypony 01:10, October 3, 2009 (UTC)

I've been down there at least 5 times with different set ups, and I have died/teled at last second every single time. Either there's a knack to this I'm not getting, or you guys are showing off. Since no guide, anywhere, has any mention of a knack ... ;) This boss is definitely not to be underestimated! If you guys could give a little more detail about *how* you defeated the boss, rather than doing the macho comparison thing and calling everyone else noobs, I'm sure the readers of this guide would appreciate it. How to get the Salve ammy back after u lose it Edit

Do you just go through the mine like normal to get the salve ammy back if you lost yours?

Suggested Combat Levels? Edit

I've noticed with a number of quests that people keep mentioning having very high combat levels, high-level equipment, and such. How many people are really level 90+ before they complete this quest? I'm going to do it at 87 and I've already completed over 130 quests. It seems like it would make a lot more sense to make recommendations for lower-leveled players. The higher-leveled ones should already know what to do and know how much they need to take care of strong enemies. The level 60's aren't going to have any idea how difficult (or not) the bosses are because everyone is talking about level 90's fighting them. NathanW197 22:39, August 2, 2010 (UTC)

Small update requestedEdit

Completed the quest awhile back, it wasn't really much trouble for me. (level 97 combat). However, I know a lot of people who did for some reason. Even some 100+ people I knew were having difficulty with it (most of them were using Dragon daggers/whips/Dragon scims).

Therefore I wanted to make a small change to the guide. During my battle with the boss, I noticed it was extremely weak to Crumble Undead (I was maging, and tried it). It did 100+ damage to the boss every time, and I think mentioning it would dramatically help those who are having trouble finishing this quest because of the boss.

Just some small changes to the boss section mentioning it. Anyone object?

Feel free to make the change, Crimsonis. If you find that something on the wiki is incorrect or could be improved, you're welcome to update it. Maybe just add it as a dot point. Cheers, KandarinSmall.png Chicken7 >talk 05:36, February 26, 2011 (UTC)
Done. Added it as a dot note, and as a recommendation on the info box.

"Im having a bit of trouble with the track I have it matched the same way as in the picture but the cart still doesnt make it to the exit any advice is greatly appriceated please reply"

I think the setting for track/lever E is inncorrect. Using the same setup, with only level E changed, I succeeded.

Boss FightEdit

For those still having trouble with the boss fight, if you simply don't want to leave and have run out of food and hp you can always take a step outside of the door and rest until you have enough hp to take him down.

Cart TrackEdit

I have tried both of the "correct" lever pullings, and the cart always sinks. Always. Any suggestions? :S
