There was a evergreen north of fally[]

When u chopped it the shadow didn't disappear. I found it and immediately sent bug report. It has been fixed by Jagex. Here's a pic: [[File:Glitchevergreen.png]]

Should I add this glitch[]

And which section is it, "Environment Glitches"?

--Penko 15:47, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I'd say environment glitches. It can always be moved later on if it should be in another category Wink Ancient talisman Oil4 Talk 16:03, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
Could u or some1 else do it for me because I'm not english, I'm finnish, so it's hard for me to do it. --Penko 17:05, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

Could some1 add this glitch?![]

I don't write well in English (seriously), so could some1 else add this shadow glitch. There is picture above.

Player names...[]

There seems to be alot of player names mentioned in the article... Black cavalier Zenihdrol Tribal top (blue) 04:08, October 31, 2009 (UTC)

A problem with removing them all is that peole could think that the player name not showing up is itself the glitch. I suppose they could be replaced with a player spoof name... http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/uu33/Psycho_Robot/Sigs%20and%20Avatars/kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar 04:13, October 31, 2009 (UTC)

Selecting Two Items At Once Glitch[]

I found out what seems to be a glitch while i was at varrock museum where i could select two items at once, giving them both white outlines. I did this by going to the digsite bit in the museum, taking a chunk of rock; then using it on a workbench and as my character was cleaning the rock sample i would click use on it again, if i did this and it crumble as i was working on it, i would go and get another rock sample and as soon as i put it in my inventory it had a white outline around it as if I had clicked use. Then i could click use on a second item in my inventory and they would both still have the white outline around them.

I'm working on uploading a screenshot but it says its in the wrong format (ive tried .png/.jpeg/.tiff)

why do we folo jagex's rules?[]

it doesnt seem like a good idea to not list unfixed glitches. foloing jagex's rules in general makes it feel like a 5 year olds encyclopedia, rather then a proper wiki. can anybody give a good reason to folo jagex's rules? i dont support going around telling people to do stuff, but not mentioning something THAT IS IMPORTANT, simply because jagex doesnt want us to doesnt seem right.

All really notable glitches are fixed by Jagex (well stop people from abusing it) so quickly that it doesn't really give much time for people to abuse it, meaning maybe a on hour wait before the info is added. Small graphics glitches are added all the time but nobody ever really bothers deleting them since they can't be abused. In a nutshell: Glitches that can be abused are quickly fixed by jagex, so they are added quickly. Nobody normally removes glitches that can't be abused because people are lazy. Move to Bug[]

Shouldn't glitches be called bugs here, because that's what Jagex calls them? User:C Teng/sig 14:53, January 24, 2010 (UTC)

Sounds good. That is the only thing that Jagex calls them, and it is always good to use Jagex terminology. Unicorn horn dust Evil Yanks talk 01:58, January 25, 2010 (UTC)
Why does it matter what JaGeX calls it? Glitch is standard terminology used by players for faults in the game. Jagex does not call cutscenes "cutscenes" but instead "instanced events", so why don't we use the same terminology? If you want to use the term "bug" from now on instead of "glitch" just because JaGeX uses it then OK, just make sure you rename the "cutscene" article to "instanced events" since we evidently must follow the ways of the almighty JaGeX....--Kkpl0x 05:13, January 25, 2010 (UTC)
I agree with Kkpl0x, there are some cases where using the name Jagex provides (in-game names for items) would be better, but this is not one of them. It'd be a lot of work for little or no gain in terms of article quality. It's a glitch, so call it a glitch. C.ChiamTalk 09:31, January 26, 2010 (UTC)
Actually, they call cutscenes, cutscenes. "Instanced event" is specifically a cutscene that is "instanced" (meaning generated away from the rest of the players).

Oppose - Glitch seems fine to me. I don't think we need to follow Jagex's standard here since it's not an official name or anything. To me, glitch sounds more professional than bug, and there is less chance for confusion since there is a Cave bug which is not a glitch about a cave, rather the name of an in-game monster. Support - If we title almost everything else exactly how Jagex does (RS:STYLE#TITLES), then why wouldn't we move it? Also, no one is going to be confused by the title being bug, it redirects straight to glitch night now. --Aburnett(Talk) 22:29, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

Why isn't this considered fraud?[]

"Jagex also offered life-time memberships to players that showed them how to do the duplication. Several players did this, but instead of a life-time membership, all they got were permanent IP bans."

Jagex offered the users a payment in the form of a lifetime membership for the service of revealing the glitch to them (presumably so they could fix it. Instead of the payment, they received nothing and were blocked from accessing the game.

In law, we call this fraud. I understand that Jagex is a British company, and i'm not familiar with British law.

Can any1 tell me why there was no consequence on Jagex's part or if, in fact, there were? Wehttambassist 00:42, January 27, 2010 (UTC)

That sentence has been removed since the only source that can be found on it is a website that is quoting off another unknown website the biased opinion of a player that was banned. The reward thing was true, but the thing about Jagex banning the player was made up by the player as a way of getting back at Jagex I think. Unicorn horn dust Evil Yanks talk 02:57, January 27, 2010 (UTC)

You don't have to believe anything I present before you, but here ya go - scroll down till 'the history' + some links below that might be interesting GOOGLE (failed) translation [1] [2] - Tokkul detail Inhaps talk 18:34, January 27, 2010 (UTC)

The first one is copied off another page which it doesn't specify. You main, latvian source stole it word for word off your last source. I couldn't find it saying anywhere that Jagex betrayed the thater that told them about it. The only other source that you have would be very biased due to (apparently) being written by someone who was banned by Jagex. That page was quoted off another website (why the quotation marks are there) which it doesn't mention... Finally, if Jagex did stab a player in the back, then why would they have made a news post about it, highlighting the fact?? There is only one very (very) dodgy source supporting what you said happened, so I think it would be a bit premature to start full-out accusing Jagex of entrapment. Unicorn horn dust Evil Yanks talk 05:29, January 28, 2010 (UTC)
What they probably did was give the account lifetime membership, then ban it 10 seconds after, that would be a way jagex could get around it if that person was telling the truth. DMalfoy 11:47, June 8, 2010 (UTC)

Cannon glitch and red 0[]

if you setup a cannon on a corner of the steps at the gx, the cannon will float! add this glich. Also, if you use a drag dagger special attack, and both attacks hit, but the first attack kills the thing, the second will appear as a red hitsplat as if it was damage, but the number would be 0

no more geckos for me glitch[]

My pet gecko ran away :( but i cant catch another is this the punishment for not feeding it? It's unfair.

Definately not a glitch. If you do not feed a pet, it will be starving, and run away to find food. For something like this, checking the Runescape Knowledge Base first is the smart thing to do. Bloody Llama 15:33, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

Protected Glitch[]

I protected glitch from being edited by ip and brand new users. It seems easiest to explain it through the advantages/ disadvantages of leaving the page unprotected:

Disadvantages[]

  • New users can fix spelling
  • Might upload a png version of a glitch image

Advantages[]

  • High traffic page, being the 89th most visited page
  • No other fansites would have a page like this, so this should be where we excel
  • Of the 50 most recent edits to the page:
    • 11 are vandalism
    • 10 are adding glitches that should have been added to a subpage
    • 23 are cleaning up other users contributions to the page
    • 6 are constructive edits
  • A large majority of the vandalism was by ips, adding glitches by day old accounts, cleaning up and constructive evits by a mix of new and old accounts.
  • By protecting, it encourages accounts to place the glitches where glitches are meant to be placed.

Unicorn horn dust Evil Yanks talk 06:20, March 24, 2010 (UTC)

Support - When an article is protected, I assume its talk page is not. If this is the case, I don't see why the IP/new users can't post the glitch on the talk page. Wiki has many users; I'm sure there would be people that would go over the article and correct spelling/grammar. In addition, I agree that older players would have to experience to not vandalize, add the glitches in the correct categories, etc. If this is where we excel, why not excel even more? Other fansites don't have this problem because only authorized people have permission to edit the page, this is our weak point. One could argue that this is our strong point, as a diverse enviroment of people are allowed to add information; however, the facts are against us- 42% (Vandalism and misplaced additions) of the 50 most recent edits are rather negative, 46% (Cleaning) are positive overall, but would be done by anyone speaking English; and the remaining 12% (Constructive edits) are positive. Thanks. Onuasdad 22:10, May 17, 2010 (UTC)

Dungeoneering Anti-Dragon shield glitch[]

My friend somehow got a dungeoneering version of the anti-dragon sheild outside of the game and can trade it. It could be because of the rollback and appearntly the shields got glitched, should this be added to glitches or something?

I have a picture...but I dont know how to add it....

Massive RC xp[]

Uh should i add this. when me and my freind where getting our dungennering lvs up we found out u can do runecrafting and in 45 seconds we both had lv 35 runecarfting!
While we were doing it there was this big system update that logged evryone out when i logged back in my runecrafting was lv 5 again! Then i did dungennering again and i could only get my runecrafting up to 7 or 8! I guess this means some dumb person told Jagex and fixed it! Stupid!!!  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.96.228.84 (talk) on 20:04, May 2, 2010.

Yes, there was such a glitch, but Jagex did a 30 minute rollback to the point where this glitch first showed itself, because getting 100 xp per rune isn't very fair to those who trained it properly, now is it? Tokkul detail Inhaps talk 21:22, May 2, 2010 (UTC)
It was worse even than that. Previously, players could enter a dungeon, sell everything there, buy rune essence, craft runes for 2kish exp in a minute, then leave the dungeon, and repeat. So, Jagex meant to divide the exp by 5. Take fire runes - previously 7xp per 10 ess, meant to go down to 1.4 per 10. Instead, this ended up as 14000 per 10, meaning the 1k or so ess you could buy upon entering the dungeon would give 2.8M exp. Because that's totally fair.

They didn't even make an update; just pulled the plug on the servers, cutting everyone off, and made a rollback to the precise moment the glitch was added. Took 2 hours to rollback and update... Dungeoneering-icon Deathslayer Fishing-icon 21:50, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

Someone with ability to change..[]

on the world 111 section, this line of text really annys me, "This bug remained on RuneScape for about an hour and was fixed immediately after it became known to Jagex. The repercussions of this glitch are still being felt today, as some of those banned and/or killed owned rare items such as partyhats and other Discontinued rare items. The removal of the players meant the rare items were deleted also." The reason so being that it would have had little to no effect on the price of rares, so i ask it is removed please. DMalfoy 11:53, June 8, 2010 (UTC)

Also please edit the last part, it reads " player couldn't log out of the game not to the lobby either a few servers also went down the same day" please change it to "when players tried to log out theyd recieve the message"lost connection, attempting to re-estyablish" when trying to log out to the lobby. This glitch is still unresolved Edogrey 16:09, June 14, 2010 (UTC)

Hmmmm... if you see something that needs fixing, feel free to do it yourself. I will look at it too.
